You have discovered Sabaton (your pronounciation was correct). This is a Swedish power metal band who sing about military history. This song tells the story of Bismarck, the greatest German battle ship ever built in the second world war. The British took it down as it was a serious threat for the whole British nation. You might want to check out the episode about Bismarck on Sabaton’s second channel, called Sabaton History. On this channel they have short 15 minute documentaries which explain the story behind the song. There is an episode for each and every song in the Sabaton catalogue. For your next reaction, there are tons of songs to choose from. I noticed the suggestion for No Bullets Fly, which is a great song that tells a very touching story. Make sure to use the animated Story video. Have fun!
There were two battleships Bismarck class, the Bismarck and the Tirpitz. The Bismarck was sunk by the Germans Navy, rather than allowing it to be captured in May 1941, and the Tirpitz was modified several times during WW II, until it was around 2000 tons heavier than the Bismark. The Tirpitz was sunk by an air attack in November 1944. For comparison the Bismarck was 49,200 tons, the Turpitz was 51,800 tons. Both were lighter than the 6 Iowa Class battleships that the US Navy had in WW II. All of them were dwarfed by the nearly 72000 ton Japanese battleship Yamato. In comparison modern Aircraft Carriers displace around 100,000 tons.
When you say things like "The British took it down..." you should probably mention that the Bismarck sunk the HMS Hood (which was the pride of the British Navy) to start the British Hunt .
This vid was released 1 year after the last survivor of the Bismarck died. He is represented by the 19 year old survivor in the vid. His son is the fishing boat skipper, hence the memorial wall in the office and the compass...
Bismarck was the ship being sunk. The German navy's flagship, hunted down and destroyed by the UK during ww2. Bismarck had earlier destroyed the UK ship HMS Hood and the destruction of Hood spurred a relentless pursuit by the Royal Navy involving dozens of warships. Two days later, heading for occupied France to effect repairs, Bismarck was attacked by 16 Fairey Swordfish biplane torpedo bombers from the aircraft carrier HMS Ark Royal; one scored a hit that rendered the battleship's steering gear inoperable. In her final battle the following morning, the already-crippled Bismarck was engaged by two British battleships and two heavy cruisers, and sustained incapacitating damage and heavy loss of life. The ship was scuttled to prevent her being boarded by the British, and to allow the ship to be abandoned so as to limit further casualties. Most experts agree that the battle damage would have caused her to sink eventually.

They actually scuttled a 51000 ton mountain of sinking, flaming scrap metal. All guns silenced, her superstructure devastated, her command staff obliterated, internally aflame from end to end, her stern and port gunwales already underwater and hundreds of her crew already in the water behind her.... All the scuttling did was to sink her a few minutes earlier than was already happening. Such a pity you weren't there personally to experience the HORRIFIC beating she took off the superior battleships of the Royal Navy. In the world of boxing the crew's scuttling efforts are what is known as "throwing in the towel", submission of a boxer when he has been punched senseless by a more powerful opponent.
These guys sing about military history world wide, emphasizing the valor, sacrifice and courage of the people caught up in the conflict itself. They rarely let personal opinion into the music but there are a couple I can think of, if you explore this band further you will see it. I would suggest seeking out the animated music video for the song 'Night Witches', it is a good tune and the backstory is amazing. Enjoy!

Hi Randy, never thought I'd see Sabaton on your channel. Great reaction and I'm glad you liked it, they're one of my favourite bands and the live shows are phenomenal !
The Bismarck was the biggest battleship Germany had ever built, even to this day. In 1941 it was sent to sink merchant ships, east of Britain, to cut off their supply lines and thus to starve them and force them to surrender. After a battle, in which Bismarck sank the HMS Hood, basically the star of the Royal Navy, killing all but 3 people of her crew. After that happened, the Prime Minister of Britain, Winston Churchill ordered the Bismarck to be sunk, whatever it takes, basically sending the entire Royal Navy after it. In May 1941, Bismarck was finally sunk, this is shown in the music video. The video was released about a year after the last survivor of the Bismarck died. Also, the Kriegsmarine was the German navy at the time.

Sabaton as a rule are cool with people reacting to their material and have been known to share reactions on their socials and sending songs early to their fave reactors.
If you enjoy Sabaton, they have a channel on UA-cam they run called Sabaton History, where they go over the history of each song they make as most of their songs are about historical battles. I would recommend Attack of the Dead Men.
Sabaton is a power metal band from Falund, Sweden. Their songs's about war and about the people, about the suffering, about heroism. You should really make a reaction video about their songs "Ballad of Bull", "Inmate 4859" and "Final Solution". I love Sabaton and A7X. My two fav bands.

The mere existence of the Bismarck put pear into the hearts of the allies. An was considered a high priority target. It's a very interesting story, but if you can, find it from a neutral perspective. The word "ton" was spelled correctly. It refers to the imperial measurement of the time. Tonne is a metric unit. What I love about Sabaton is their tendency to pay tribute to acts of war. Not to glorify war, but to honour the people involved in any given subject. This is one of my favourites. Another very high ranking song/video highly recommend is "No Bullets Fly". Very touching very moving giving an honest account of an amazing set if circumstances. (Have a tissue standing by. It's that good)

Bismarck class includes Tirpitz and a third that was not build. Bismarck was sunk by her own crew to prevent the ship falling into the enemy hands. The allies did NOT sink Bismarck, they investigated the wreck and noted only two penetration through the hull and they were all way above the water line where the armor were weaker and all the torpedo walls were undamaged even after taking some direct torpedo hits to the hull, but the torpedo walls were undamaged so the torpedoes did no damage other than the rudder that caused Bismarck to only travel in a circle. They knew they could not escape because they could not repair the rudder on the sea and while the "#¤"¤" ins"#¤ bombardment of Bismark did not sink her, it did take out crew members and caused chaos for the sailors that was onboard, must have been hell on earth having that many ships bombard you and they decided to sink it other than surrender the ship to enemy hands.

@Better Every Day The Bismarck was not sank but rather scuttled by a skeleton crew of hardcore loyal officers to the Admiral of the Kreigsmarine (German for Navy). It is possible that it was scuttled due to the fact that it carried an Enigma Machine (although the British had already cracked the code at that time, and captured one, hence the new model with an extra level of encryption). Or, as it was known that the Admiral was well known to defy Hitler multiple times, that he just took it out (against hitler's orders, hitler had one of his famous conniptions about him even taking it out of port). That he intentionally took it out to destroy it. He ordered everyone who did not wish to remain behind to help with the planting and detonation of the charges of the bottom plates (which every large ship has for scuttling purposes). So that leads to thoughts that maybe he just didn't want Hitler to have the thing to begin with, was done with the war and knew he was a dead man for his defiance to the third Reich to begin with. No torpedo pierced it's hulls. It could not have been sank. Not saying that enough long term bombardment couldn't do it.. But it took nearly the entire Atlantic fleet just to put it into submission with a lucky torpedo hit to the rudder by a Swordfish plane... (The planes you saw in the video). Heck, even Rommel hated Hitler. It was a keep your friends close and your enemies closer situation for Rommel... Why Rommel has respect to this day despite what he did to France.
Rambings of a borderline delusional above. Bismarck's crew scuttled a 51000 ton mountain of sinking, flaming scrap metal. All guns silenced, her superstructure devastated, her command staff obliterated, internally aflame from end to end, her stern and port gunwales already underwater and hundreds of her crew already in the water behind her.... All the scuttling did was to sink her a few minutes earlier than was already happening.
Well I came late to this party. WELCOME TO THE SABATON ARMY! The guy sailing the boat they were on is the son of one of the few survivors of the sinking. I won't get into too much since it looked like others have made similar comments. But I'm married to a marine historian. So I know about Bismarck and his sister ship Turpiz. They were the battleships the British and the US could NOT let into the Atlantic. So the British went after it and sunk it after he sunk the pride of the British. The HMS Ark Royal cornered and crippled the ship using Swordfish bomber planes. The Commander of Bismark ordered the ship scuttled because he could NOT let this ship fall into the enemies hands. The sad part of the story is that the Ark Royal and 2 other British ships moved in to help with the rescue of survivors. They had to leave most of them behind because U Boats were coming in. The U Boats didn't pick up any survivors. One of the British battleships came in 24 hours later to rescue whomever was left.
Bizmark and it's sister ship the tirpitz were the largest and most powerful warships used by Germany in the second world war they are only surpassed by the imperial Japanese navy battleships Yamato and musashi

Only 300 + survived before being rescued out 2000 +sailors
If you wanna hear another song about a ship, check out "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald" by Gordon Lightfoot. Have tissues nearby, because the story is very tragic.
If you like historical events, then you should listen to more of Sabaton.
lol my son made a joke when we watched this..."Im happy u didnt name me as Randy dad" and what can i say? u dont name a chlild randy unless u want it to be bullied. Part from the name joke, i really like the reactions u make.
My name didn't help (I was bullied for a variety of stuff). Some of the boys in my class sharpied my sports card to make me a dude, and renamed me 'Randall'... and they called me that off and on for years. Yay....🤣🤣
My grandfather was a gunner on HMS Rodney....
Around 2000 German sailors perished with the Bismarck.

Sabaton is best im Sabaton BIG fan
3:28 yes it is
