The only videos that I get so excited to get a notification for!! Thanks so much for sharing your journey and experience, you're making a true difference in the throwing community!! Keep up the good work and can't wait to watch you compete 2021!!
I learnt so much about the carry of the disc around the circle, then the 'pop' on release. I've got a competition on Sunday and practice tomorrow, so will work on it then and hopefully transfer that to Sunday!!
Great to see you back! I have missed your videos. How are you adjusting your plans, re 2021? I'm a masters thrower, and was training for the world championships in Toronto . . . now delayed a year. Interesting times!
Awesome video! I’m not sure if you talked or posted about this, but if you want to help work on staying connected with the discus, maybe try drills with a broom? It helps a lot because everything is connected. Like I said, I’m not sure if you talked about it yet. Also, what rim weight are the discs you throw?
Steve Arnold yeah I’ve done stuff with broom sticks in the past. Right now I just need a lot of reps with the discus but it might be a good idea to throw in a few drills with the broom stick before fulls, especially when learning. good call. My discs are ~75-80% rim weight I’d guess.
Life of JY dang. If they are that actual rim weight, then you might want to try something a little higher. I mean, with the progress you are making, it might not be a bad idea to at least try out some higher end rim weights. They don’t even have to be really high. But that’s up to you.
Is your body completely vertical at release when you're on top of your block leg while the discus is rising at about a 40 degree angle? Or is your upper body actually also angled back at the same angle as the discus? Thanks!
nph0119 I’d say it’s not completely vertical because your block leg needs to be in front of you a bit to stop momentum and stay balanced. but it feels like it’s completely vertical during the throw to me. The discus works a steeper angle around the body and the body mostly feels like a vertical post it’s working around.
@@LifeofJY Ok thanks and Happy Canada Day! I've only recently seen it coached by other coaches where the arm travels at a steep angle compared to the upper body at release. I guess I always thought the strongest position was leaning back, not in a reverse "C" though, and the arm stayed in line with the chest like a fly vs a weaker incline fly position using more pec muscle rather than shoulder.
Lars Arvid Nilsen been messing around with some things out of the back but low out of the back isn’t bad if I use it to get the discus high to the middle. But if it gets low and behind then I’m in trouble

Dropping the disc A bit low in the back ?

Are you going to try to make the olympics in shot put
Possibly. Going to get back to lifting this week and will see how the body feels in the coming weeks and if I want to give the shot a try again.
