Wow! Thank you so very much for this!
I’m currently going research on both cities, and with your help, I’d easily conclude on which city to settle in!
Thanks a lot for this video!

Hey! In my opinion it is. However you need to treat it similarly to Paris, you need to be careful with your bags, things do get stolen there, you do get catcalled and you do need to watch out. It's still a city and not a small town where you can trust that nobody will steal your bags. I've known of some people who's drinks were spiked, phones/jewellery stolen, etc. And there are areas more south where I did not feel so comfortable. Most of the people are friendly though and I had no issues personally, so just be careful.

thank you for your great video! as you are from brussels I guess you spoke french there - how would you say are the cities for internationals?

Hi! Thanks for your message, so I’m not a native French speaker as I’m from Antwerp (we speak Dutch there). In my opinion you can definitely get by using English, I do recommend learning the basics to understand a bit more about the culture and to say please etc. in French as they like it when you make an effort. Both cities are international, eg Bordeaux has many international students. All my friends who didn’t speak English (almost all of them) enjoyed their time there thoroughly.
I don’t think you’ll have any issues except the occasional grumpy Frenchman who doesn’t speak English or once in a while a fully French menu (I recommend using Google maps)

Hey Emilie, thank you for the video! I was recently accepted into two Master's one in Nanterre and one in Pessac near Bordeaux. I was wondering if you have any idea about Pessac, if it is perhaps less safe than Bordeaux or just the same. Thank you :))

That is awesome! Whatever you choose you'll have a great time. Not sure about how Pessac is unfortunately. Good luck!
