Thanks so much for making these videos. I was really intimidated by the idea of doing fork seals for the first time, but your videos made the process easy. I wasn't expecting to need a special tool to seat the seals, so I ended up using the old seal to drive the new one in place. I cut it with a hack saw to put it around the fork, but given my time back, i would've put the old one on before the new one, and then cut it off after the new one was seated.
Thanks very much for the video, I'm trying understand between your vid and some online descriptions, it seems you didn't remove the damper rod and I'm trying to understand why the other guy said that it's necessary 🤔😭
If you want to get 100% of the old oil out you would have to remove the damper. Otherwise I don't believe there's any need to remove it, unless you were going to install some gold valves in it.
The one question that springs to my mind is how on earth do you keep you bike so clean??? I have seen brand new demonstration bikes with discoloration on the abs ring,but on your bike it looks brand new and never been outside? I admire how you look after your bike. I wished I was able to keep my bike that clean or do you use something that I'm not aware of? I like the methodical way you do things and thank you for the excellent video😁
Thanks Scott, well one thing is that living in the desert, it has never been in the rain so that helps, but I do keep it wiped down frequently. I use WD40 on a rag for any greasy stuff like chain lube. Honda polish for the rest of it.
@@VStromGarage thank you for replying, just a quick question, can you use (car)brake cleaner on motorcycle calipers instead of the dedicated motorcycle brake cleaner because the car stuff is soo much cheaper than the motorcycle one.i have tried googling for a answer but can't find it anywhere cheers
Está bien, pero tienes algún fallo en el montaje, el aceite se mide con el cartucho comprimido, o sea, en su posición más baja, veo que después de meter el muelle, vuelves a sacar aceite, eso no se hace, por otra parte, es bueno sacar el cartucho para limpiarlo totalmente, yo me fabricado con un vaso de carraca de 24 y un tubo uno, también un compresor de muelle y un tirador del émbolo del cartucho te facilita mucho el trabajo y son fáciles de hacer, por lo demás, muy bien explicado, todo esto te lo digo con ánimo de ayudar, para nada es una crítica, un saludo ✌️
I over filled it to be able to remove the oil to the correct measurements of the service manual, which is 120mm from the top with the spring removed and outer tube compressed. How is this incorrect?

@@scottvstrom I have always used regular brake cleaner and haven't had any problems, just be careful around seals and rubber parts.

got them on ebay. copies of the acerbis vision hand guards.

I haven't done one on this one yet, I don't have the computer to lock out the Idle speed controller.
