Judy Garland was the last person to get John Dillinger autograph inside the movie theater: The Biograph. The leading stars were Myrna Loy and Clark Gable in the film Manhattan Melodrama. That was the last entertainment of public enemy No 1. Thank you CCC for this good movie!

They didn't cover the part where Dillinger was arrested in Tucson by a local cop and was sent back in custody. He then escaped from jail again.
They did finally catch him outside the theater, but it's cute that the show failed to mention how they let him escape only a short time before that and then they had to hunt him down.

Although this crime “melo-drammer” takes place in 1934, there are lots of 1940s cars and women’s outfits. Low budget all the way but quite fascinating.

Not only that (I'm a vintage car guy too) if you look at the 2 women 1:20-2:21, they're totally 1957. Actually the man with the woman in the dark dress has the mid-late 50's look also; it's just not as obvious as it is with the women.

Those are also some very distinctly Los Angeles street signs (Beverly and 38th) in 'Sioux Falls' at 34:26 .

@@-oiiio-3993 Not surprised. I haven't gotten that far into it yet; too much to watch with the 1/6 Hearings, but I'll look for that. It's sloppiness/laziness where they didn't care at the time or didn't think the viewers would care. I saw another '57 film 'Baby Face Nelson' that although makes it clear it takes place in 1933, I can totally tell it's from '57 in subtle and not so subtle ways. It had to have been higher budget though, as it starred Mickey Rooney and Carolyn Jones!

@@-oiiio-3993 That makes sense, with Lucy at the helm overseeing everything. One movie that went the extra mile(s) in authenticity was 'Paper Moon' by Peter Bogdanovich, one of my favorite directors. Except for obviously knowing the stars were from '73 and a few (not too bad) cuss words were in it, it looked, sounded and seemed like it really was made in 1934. He had to stand his ground to have it made in b & w, but prevailed in large part to his 'Last Picture Show' success 2 years earlier. But no, there was no seeing it as a '73 film not far under the surface. Not at all.
