    Awesome, I have a 2006 CRV that was gifted to me from my Mom. It’s got 272,xxx miles and I had this issue pop up a couple days ago after it sat for a couple moths. This will be a huge help for diagnosing it. Thank you! FWIW I’m trying an oil change and the oe filter before I trouble shoot it. Read the Honda tsb that said aftermarket filters can potentially cause this issue and I recently changed filter brands.

    Nice video!
    For what it’s worth for others who experience “limp mode” - check engine light, vsa light, warning light combo. My ‘07 crv went into limp mode, turned it off for 5 minutes, checked oil (ok), turned it on and only the check engine light was illuminated - fully operational to get you where you’re going to work on it.
    Had the code read and it was the code in the video. Replaced the vtec unit (annoying place to work) and had no problems - until about 4 months later. Same limp mode every few months now. I disconnect the battery in each instance and the problem goes away for a few months. If I find someone with the diagnostic tool in the video, I’ll check the signal for the vtec unit.
    More recently, I’m starting to have low oil pressure indicated when I decelerate. I’m assuming my oil is too thin for bearing tolerance now that the mileage is >200k. But next step is vtec troubleshooting.

    Awesome video. On our 2006 Accord I am getting P2649. I verified the voltage to the blue black wires at the oil pressure sensor is 12v and I do have ground at the other wire. Unfortunately my scanner won't check the coil side connector. On the coil side I get 3.3V on the green yellow wire and have ground on the black wire. Confused.........

    Hey CHarles, when chking the 12volts to battery, there is a drain on the voltage....starts to drop. Starts out at about 10 then slowly drops while multimeter connected to plug (probing the blueblk wire on switch plug not sensor plug) Any suggestions? Do I now have to find the drain on voltage, like a wire grounding? grrrrrr

    What is the scanner that you're using to check the signal from each part? All I have right now is the basic $50 code reader that plugs in underneath the steering wheel. What would you recommend that I get to be able to see exactly what parts are talking to the ECU like that?

    • @CharlesAndCars
      @CharlesAndCars  3 роки тому +2

      That's an autel ms906bt. Hard to recommend a specific scanner. The higher end scanners are not worth the cost for most people as they won't use it enough to justify the cost.

    Very helpful, but I checked my connector at oil pressure switch and I didn’t have power going to it? I just used test light,not voltmeter. I figure if I have voltage it would light but nothing. I checked gr side (yellow/gr) and i did have a good ground. Any suggestions on the power side. I looked for fuse for it and nothing. What would be best approach to why I have no power there with ign on/engine off

    • @CharlesAndCars
      @CharlesAndCars  4 роки тому +1

      You would need to use a wiring diagram and determine the routing of the power. Possibly there's a fuse for it that might be bad, or a wiring issue.

    • @CharlesAndCars

      Really hard to say. Look at the overall condition/cleanliness inside the valve cover and get the oil pressure checked. You might have low oil pressure. Just bought it. I don't know where you bought it but I've seen scenarios like what you mentioned too many times from people who clear the codes, sell the car, and then the codes come back. If you don't have a scanner you can't see that the codes have been cleared. Don't know in your case if that's what happened or not.

It fluctuated between 12.1-12.2 volts. It’s a three year old battery.
