Played on a 486-66.
The goal of these videos is to see how quick I can crank out a review after a long day at work, with about one minute reviews based on a game or theme of games (this one is a single game, HURL, for the MS-DOS OS).
I have to admit. When I saw this video back in 2010, I instantly subscribed to this channel. Your humor and love for the classic PC games brought me to find my favorite series on the system. From your humble beginnings, I'm glad to see your show improve as the years go on. Thanks for the enjoyable experience and keep on rolling with your (Not so) Lazy Game Reviews.
I'm glad you've stuck around for so long!
+Lazy Game Reviews Oh so, this is Duke Nukem 3D For kids?

it is a sin of epic proportions that I just found this channel in 2018!
for an old school PC gamer like me, this is the best content on the internet! Thank you. now I have so much back content to get caught up on!
I remember playing this when I was a kid and it really creeped me out. On the first level, I entered a room with two distant entrances and was followed by a duck. I ran inside and away from the door, glitching the duck into the door. So, while looking at said duck, I moved backwards and FWOOOP the door behind me opened which opened the other door, letting the duck free. I immediately tried to exit the game, while I could see the duck moving towards me. It was terrifying. Awesome videos, btw.
Fallout has toilets that restore health also =D
I played this all the time when I was a wee lass and I couldn't remember the name, THANK YOU FOR YOU
”it is summertime and that means... nothing” had me laughing well over a minute. Lord have mercy.
I'd love to help but I've got to stay here and shampoo my kangaroo......well I know what my new excuse is
"It is the summer time and that means... nothing"
those intros are so nostalgic, fam. I can also identify with that kind of lifestyle, i dont know why i should have fond memories over sitting to play on an old computer with food besides me like some nerd, but i do. I have been following your stuff since i found the depth dwellers review and let me say that you are one of the few people that truly do justice to PC gaming back in the day and even today, your videos have slowly but surely gone from top to god tier, and it has been a truly enjoyable ride from the start to this point, keep up with the good work, man!
Also adlib, i also love it. Specially the Tyrian soundtrack.
I don't know what that kangaroo was smokeing, but I want some.
Looks more like, "Please keep this guy from showering me, he does... things to me"
In a little more than 3yrs it will be a decade since this episode, I love the fact that even as of today your reviews are the best out there and haven't sold out (joking of course). I wish you & Kim all the best for the future and I Thank You for LGR!
For some reason, I my brain just reminded me of this video, but had forgotten any name attached to it. Thank goodness for the "sort by oldest" function on youtube, it's fun to revisit these videos!
The thrown eggs have faces on them, how horrifying
I laughed way too hard at “it is the summer time and that means... NOTHING”
For some reason I love this game too. Maybe it's just the nostalgia. I'd recommend playing it on DOSBox where you can drastically reduce the clock speed. A lot of games from this era didn't have a time based game loop.
I had the demo for this game! It was for the first level only and I loved replaying it over and over.
I hated this game so much as a kid (1995-96) that I eventually broke the CD for it. Now, I'm giving it another chance, after going out of my way to re-learn the name by looking up all of the first-person shooters from that era.
Naw, it's still crap. It could have been a decent game if it wasn't so buggy and broken.
@@yellowblanka6058 You’re not wrong, I quickly lost interest after a day or two. Controls were way too fluid as to be unmaneuverable.
@@WakkoKakko The fact that maybe 1/4th (I'm probably being generous) of your hits actually register - and if land another hit while a hit animation is playing out the second hit won't register, doesn't help things either. Whatever QA/programmer who thought this was fit to ship out should have been ashamed of themselves.
This is the video that’s getting me into your channel here in July of 2021. Let’s see how far I go!
I remember this game! I had a demo disc with 200-300 games on it and this was one of them!
Damn that turning is giving me motion sickness.
ralph anderson
Ya thats true.
That's... a kangaroo? LIES!
I like the look of this game. It's very much it's own thing, and had I found it back in those days, I would have certainly got a kick out of it. It's a real shame the control is so bad, because it honestly looks interesting enough to play through. I love the character design on those ducks and pigs. Too bad you didn't get to the litter throwing kitties from the artwork (assuming they are in there, since the litter is referenced on the back of the case as well).
Great review, another good video. Thanks for all your work. :)
have to say... ur videos are very underdoggish, very good and informative, similar to ashens ur videos are timeless and very similar from 08 to 16. u deserve many more subs
also, request: do touhou pc98
even if u dont... cheers m8, keep it up, ethan great work!
Thank you!
o shit instant response
i have been touched by a goddess
Played this game as a kid; loved it. The game isn't actually supposed to move like that; you probably have your clock rate way too high. I'm pretty sure the game's speed is tied to the clock rate like most other DOS games.
Literally the only issue I have with this review is the length of time between cuts. Other than that, the resolution and the clarity of your voice, your old stuff actually holds up really well.
I remember a shareware version of this game attached to a "kids" magazine. When I was playing Wolfenstein and Duke Nukem my younger brother was allowed to play this.
that's venetian snares and it's actually pretty awesome.
the back of the cd case makes it sound like an educational game or tree hugger game. EDIT: 3:53 Oh.
This is literally the ONLY thing on youtube of this game!
+Ian Knau No it's not.
A E S T H E T I C 生活のための
well maybe at the time I said that bro.

Nope there was a video released two years before.
The pig reminds me of Primus' Pork Soda.
I'm using a 1280x1024 flat panel and just love when I come across older reviews in 4:3.
Wow. It took me YEARS AND YEARS to find the name of this game. Thank you
Ahahh-ahahah! Burst out to a violent spazzy laughter at the "end montage" with the trailers and the carbage
I'm surprised at the immediate jump in quality here. In the first review he spent half the video on awkward jokes and barely talked about the game but here in the second he's already a full fledged reviewer.
That ending montage was hillarious
This game was also featured in a book called "Amazing 3-D Games Adventure Set" which calims to use a game engine called the "ACK-3D" engine. the game also goes under the title "Slob Zone" of all things.
7:55 Cellphone handshake haha
I miss these elaborate intros...
I know this review is super old and someone might have already mentioned this, but No One Lives Forever 2 has a really awesome trailer park level, complete with a tornado ripping through it.
"This has to be one of the few trailer parks in the game, other than Postal and maybe Redneck Rampage ... " There's one in No One Lives Forever 2. The scene from the demo with the tornado and ninjas. God I love those games.
This is driving me crazy. I went through your video library and I was 100% sure I had watched all your reviews. But now a bunch of the old ones started popping up on my feed and, such as this one, I've never seen them before. How did I miss them?
I have memories of this game... and lots of motion headaches afterwards
Working toilet = Duke nukem 3D. And yes, love adlib sound!!! Memories from so many games.
I'm concerned as to why the kangaroo has a thousand yard stare, the horrors he must see during shampoo time...
7:55 Aaand here's the old-school cellphone interference sound :)
The timing is too fast because it was meant for the CPUs of the mid-90s. As it says on my website, if you want to play it the way it was "meant to be" you should run it from within an emulator like DOSBox.
Dang, I remember when my dad got me this game when I was really young and I completely forgot about it until today!! Such a trip
I remember this game as a kid! It was off a shareware disk and our old 586 AMD with 16mb of ram didn't run it anywhere near as well, probably had about 3 FPS.
Oh yea! I noticed that Comanche 4! You must take a look at it some day.. I played the hell out of that!
That duck was the worst jumpscare I've experienced in a long time.
Still the best LGR intro.
Happy 8 year anniversary video made by lgr
Hah I remember this one a buddy had it and I forgot the name. Been looking around for ages thanks for uploading!
I'm not proud to say that I played this at some point in my childhood.
I VAGUELY recall playing this game as a child along with Wacky Wheels to the point where I thought I had made it up
The ducks throwing eggs at you definitely stuck with me the most. Shame that such horrible child friendly Doom clones have to exist with such greats ones like Chex Quest around
Damn
Dem production values
The moving and handling speed on this game honestly gives me a headache from just looking at it
I loved this game so much growing up, makes me happy to see it again and visit the nostalgic happy feels. [I saw my aunt playing doom and i wanted to play... my mom was unsure and got me HURL as a compromise] my uncle secretly installed doom on my pc he made for me but for a few years I still liked HURL over doom, got to play both though! fond memories of simpler times LGR
Your aunt played doom. Woah
8:34 hahah trailer park boys..RIICKKKYYY
Were you recording your voice on Type 1 cassette tape here, Clint? If so, might I suggest Dolby noise reduction or perhaps even just Chrome Type II cassettes? ;)
8:36 That's some impressive architecture right there!
wow man. this is the kind of game you have to have my terrible luck to even own. it's crazy.
Thanks! I've been looking for this game for years! One off the list :P
I remember this from way back when I was a little kid. I didn't like it too much but seeing this brought back some memories. I always wondered what the name of this game was.
Weird question: but is this based on an early Build Engine? I don't know why but I just kept getting flashes of Ken's Labyrinth in my head as you played.
Thanks for introducing this game, I will have an illicit substance-full fun time with it.
This game needs a reboot
I used to play this when I was a kid! good review.
duuuuuude, i used to love this game just because of the idea of the vending machine in FPS that u can buy stuff (yes i know there are other games have them), and the cartoony graphics i guess.
"Shampoo my kangaroo" is most certainly a euphemism for spanking the monkey.
Man,I just found the name of this game!I played it a long time ago!It was bizarre.I'm getting really old...
ahh you took me down memory lane. i was the same way. i didnt like the game but at the same time i couldnt stop playing it
Doom clone? Looks more like wolfenstein and you can shower in gta v.. Oh 2009 video damn you've come a long way
This is a doom mod/clone? And here I thought it was weird when they made chexquest from the doom engine, but this takes the cake man.
I played this on a shareware disc when I was a kid.
I love how they've named a game after something you'd do when you throw up xD
The level design and art look awesome. The NPCs look like they are from another game.
I can tell this was from nearly a decade ago because the intro is fucking 30 seconds long. Seriously, why was that a thing that so many channels used to do?
They didn't understand people can skip or leave
That more looks like the Wolfenstien 3D engine (to make things worse). You can tell due to a static height (including the buses).
Holy shit, I remember this game. My friend had it. The deodorant is what triggered the memory for me. Can't say I remember enjoying it, though.
Yeah I vaguely remember it as well... I've always remembered the name but as a kid I could never play it because I just could never figure it out! And the graphics are so different from how I imagined them from all those years ago...
I used to have this game when I was young and we had a 133mhz computer. I would play it again completely for nostalgia purposes. Of course if you play this game when you're 40 and you play on a modern pc it's going to suck.
Ah yes back when discovery wasn't important and spoilers was as common as stolen underwear. That old computer reminds me of the laptop at where I work. They still have a windows xp and boy it's nostalgic to put in my usb and play old dos games on it
Holy shit listen to that microphone crackle
dang, I'm really enjoying the, I dunno, "color balance" of this game? It looks like they put a lot of time into the art! Everything as a great bright feel to it, reminds me of Day Of The Tentacle color schemes
You've come so far.
@Parody42 I guess not Build. lol, but yeah. The flow of the engine just seems very familiar (not in the Doom/Wolfenstein sense
Hey LGR will you review Mad Dog McCree? It's one of my favorite games and I saw it in that stack.
Lgr marathon - lgr is the coolest because he shows interstate 76 in 2009 UA-cam video
Somehow, I feel bad for the kids who had to play this while other kids had DOOM or Wolfenstein 3D.
An interesting game, but do your weapons actually do anything when they DO make contact?
damn, 12 years ago... and somehow, I only found this video today 🤦 been watching your channel for a few years now (can't remember when I first discovered it, around 2015 I think?) and I always seem to uncover something you've done that I've never seen before. how deep does the LGR rabbit hole go? 🤔 guess there's only one way to find out... just keep digging!
also, am I the only one who was getting Cyberdillo vibes from this game? this at least looks coherent in comparison; Cyberdillo looks more like Hunter S Thompson threw up mid-acid trip and decided to make a game based on what he saw in his puke at the time
Is that a sticker or something you got from the HR GIGER museum? Do tell!
Since when does an umbrella clean you off?
in the future, my friend.
6:50 Don't forget GTA Vice City Stories. That had a trailer park where one of the first bosses lived.
whoa, its Rachelkip on a LGR video. That caught me off gaurd
I thought of redkneck rampage when I saw you playing this too. lol
I remember this game from when I was a kid. I don't remember much about it, except that the HUD is burned into my mind.
I can't help but think the game was running too fast in the video, because I vaguely remember it being playable without inducing motion sickness.
The graphics engine looks almost identical to the pre-Build engine that Ken Silverman made for Ken's Labyrinth.
Wow, I had this game as a kid but I didn't know how to open it until my cousin came over and had to show me how to use a computer
what game did the song at the start of your episode come from? its like dos dubstep.
@phreakindee the download link on your desc. containt fix images and text scenes
