    Major components of a rug
    1. Warp - vertical component of the foundation.
    2. Weft - horizontal component of the foundation. It runs through the warp of the rug.
    3. Knot - by utilizing different colors and number of knots, weavers will bring different shapes into the rug.
    4. Edge - created by wrapping the weft around the edge of the rug several times creating a cord like look
    5. Fringe - it is the continuation of the warp of the rug
    6. Kilim - the extra weft of the rug. In order to secure the end of the rug and prevent un-knotting, the weaver will weave a kilim or chain weave.
The foundation of the rug is made of the warp and the weft. The pile of the rug is created by the knots tied on the warps of the rug going through weft after weft until the top of the rug is reached. A beater tool is used to compact the pile and make it denser.
Two basic knots are used in most Persian and Oriental rugs:
    1.Symmetrical Turkish or Ghiordes knot
used in Turkey, the Caucasus, East Turkmenistan, and some Turkish and Kurdish areas of Iran
    2.Asymmetrical Persian or Senneh knot
used in Iran, India, Turkey, Pakistan, China, and Egypt

That's great.. thank you for your explanation .. 👍
Moreover, I founded some differences between Persian rugs and Azerbaijani rugs, specifically in making the kilim and the overcasting.
