Love your vids. I have some inherited authentic persian rugs brought here in 1976 ( The revolution) by my father. Can you recommend any websites that I could get more info on their value?

Hi. I am glad you enjoy our videos. You can look at reputable dealers' websites and compare your rug with what they sell. This will give you a good idea about its replacement value. Remember that condition is critical in valuation, and dealers' goods are usually in good usable condition.

The ability to determine quality appears to be mostly about experience . without that one has t9 take the word of the seller

That is why a reputable seller should be your first stop

@@Sharafiandcohow do you know if a seller are worth his word?
There is lots of greedy croocs in this trade, while hardly anything is documented and possibly verified!

@@OmmerSyssel I agree that like many specialised businesses it is not always easy to find the trusted dealer. However, these days with the help of reviews submitted and dealers undertaking to allow a no quibble return undertaking within a reasonable time gives you the chance to assess the piece properly. If none of these features exist with dealer then personally I would avoid them. It is what we offer

I have a large Tabriz Mahindesign with browns and greens and beige. Wool and silk. Made in Iran about 70 years old I think. It looks better every day. I try never to let direct sunlight hit it.

I thought New Zealand wool was supposed to be high quality

New Zealand wool is high quality but not for rugs. Over years it loses it shape as you walk on it, which is why you find a lot of Pakistani rugs design becomes a bit fuzzy over the years. However, carpets withIranian handspun wool, the colour becomes deeper and the design looks better over the years
