  • Trekking to Sarawak Chamber in Gunung Mulu National Park is no easy task. To get there you must embark on a six hour hike through the leech filled Borneo rain forest crossing many jungle rivers along the way. Finally you get to the huge wet cave opening where the adventure caving begins to attempt making it to the world's largest cave chamber.

Great combo of music and captions and scenes. Did NOT like the leeches and blood and darkness! Fun! Looking forward to seeing what's in the dark caves!

Love this. We have done quite a bit of caving before so we would enjoy this. Thanks for sharing I'll add it to our list of things to do when we visit this region! :-)

What an epic hike! I like the way you filmed it, felt like I was right there with you. Leeches, crossing strong rivers, and that snake at the end...you guys are brave! Need to watch the video inside the cave now to see your payoff :)

After entering the cave, we camped a few kilometers from there. Then back to HQ the next day.

Very curious how did you guys get camping gear in the cave and keep it dry with all that swimming and what was your camping situation like in there? Great video@@RoamingAroundtheWorld

So…. You made it as far as the local tour will actually let you and they told you there was too much rainfall the night before.
Unfortunately this is the reality behind this chamber and only the national geographic made it in. This is what’s called a Malaysian scam. I appreciate you posting this video but it would have been nice to see you explain it all as I know you did not make it much further than this point. I decided to call them on their claim and ended up staying four months in the area. The truth is that nobody makes it past a curtain point. The first time I went the guide would even stretch out the trek to 8 hours and pretend to be lost to avoid going into the chamber. One of my later treks to the cave entrance only took 1.5 hours.
It’s a beautiful area and many other amazing activities to join as you know so I’m not being a hater and loved the experience but unfortunate they used the idea of going to the chamber to bring in a larger group of tourists. The experience of living in the village and helping out for four months was amazing and I learned allot about the area and the realities of it all. As you know Borneo was such an amazing place but when you fly over it you see what palm oil plantations have done to it all. The jungle is like islands in the desert of palm oil trees.
