Ryan that big baby loves you so much! That is the joy of the season. What a gift. Just watching him sharing his love for his boy is my gift for the day🥰. 👵🇨🇦👋
If you use the Mr. Heater Buddy with a 20 lb tank you need to use the inline filter. In the alternative, you can use a special hose sold by Mr Heater that has a different composition and does not need the filter. The part number for the hose is in the instructions for the heater.
For those who have wood stoves, be sure to use all options. This year I finally realized just how great they are... The can supply not only warmth to your house, but with 3-2quart kettles, hot water for household chores (I turn my electric hot water heater off, it only takes an hour to heat to 140, lasts for days), dryer rack a few feet in front of the stove dries clothes, and I can cook a nice simmered stew or soup , and no ' fossil fuel' . Using standing deadwood and diseased trees makes it a great renewable resource using what would be a wasted resource. I am appreciating my BEST home appliance like never before. I realize it wouldn't be pleasant but if worse comes to worst, I can survive just fine for many weeks, never looked at it that way before. Oh, giant water storage tank in my basement completes this never really planned self sufficiency.
I totally agree with you!! I am in a similar position to Ryan, tiny house, off grid and I didn’t want to spend all my time cutting wood for a wood stove, so I have a propane fireplace. What I found was, it was pricey to heat the tiny house, noisy when the fan came on and even tho it was direct vent, we had a lot of moisture, being we are on the west coast. We purchased and installed a grizzly wood stove and I can not believe the difference and how happy we are. The Tiny house is sometimes, sometimes it gets up to 80 deg in the winter, it’s a very nice dry heat and drys our wet clothes and the ambiance is amazing! We only burn about a milk crate of wood a day and store our wood in a Couple of IBC totes for the year. I am sure for Ryan, Having a bad back sucks and propane is a great option!
When your pilot light is weak, it could be from the orifice being dirty. Easy fix: q tip with most of the cotton removed, dip into rub alcohol and then run it in and out of the orifice. Have used these heaters for years and had to do this a few time. Works every time.
Your dog is a snow dog. He pants because he is hot. You do not need any heat in his dog house. As long as he is out of the wind and there is no draft he is fine . These dogs lived outside with the sheep in the mountains in cold weather.
One cheat I've found for taking off a chill or dealing with standing around in the cold: M12 milwaukee heated sweater under another hoodie. Don't use it a ton but it produces WAY more heat than you can and is adjustable, works pretty well into long john weather and helps preheat you on those cold mornings.
Did anyone else notice what looked like an older small cabin/house across the trail when Ryan went to the deer castle? 🤔 🦌 🏰 around 12:15 I remember when there were quotes at the beginning of each video and Ryan or Sara interacting in the comment section. Reflecting back in time and it's amazing the progress, joy and contentment you've created for us and yourself. Thank you for another great year! Have a wonderful holiday 🎄 season to you, Sara, Tito, Ruby, and Kuiper as well to all who are reading this! 🌟
Ryan, far out it looks cold there (it's summer here, although you wouldn't know it today!) Good to see you're doing some rehab and exercise for your back. Dude, that's one big happy dog you've got there. Cheers. Chris
Ryan it's certainly been a while since you chainsaw milled, but do you ever clean your chains to remove the sap build up? I did that recently as an experiment. I soaked them in tractor hydraulic oil and diesel (50/50) which I was using to restore some rusty old tools and hinges I found at the Sanilac County Historic Village & Museum. After and over night soak I used a wire wheel on my drill to remove the pitch from the chain. I then sharpened the chains. My cutting was so much better when I tackled one 9ft log anout 18" in diameter. I got nine 1" planks with less effort. My Harbor Freight chainsaw sharpener certainly did a good job putting a new profile on the cutting teeth. Glad to see you having fun with that furry winter beast. Heal up and I certainly cannot wait to see work on the kitchen begin again.
RYAN I am so happy you got the dog house ready !!! Got to cover the walls where the insulation is so puppy doesn't eat on it !!! It will hurt his tummy !!! I helped my Hubby to get a Puppy also !!! Am happy he has someone to play with now !!! Just wish I could see Sgt now he is almost grown !!! A picture at least would be great !!!
You need a filter or a Mr heater hose to run a 20lb tank! Or you can just buy a refill valve for the small tanks that screws onto the 20lb tank. That worked well for me when I was moving my buddy heater a lot. Also, I don't know if you have one but the Big Buddy with 2 catalysts and a spot for tanks on both sides has a bit more fire hazard. The fires usually happen on the side opposite the propane source when there is no tank on that side. I always keep an empty tank on the side opposite my hose just that valve fails and lets propane out that side.
Yea Ryan, bud get you a stainless steel hose for buddy heater and avoid bleeding oil from rubber hose into the heating system element, stainless hoses aren't much, and you can also get a filter to! Best wishes for the holidays and stay safe this winter!!
^^ this. I destroyed my first big buddy heater by not buying the proprietary hose; the oil seeps out of the standard hoses and clogs them. You HAVE to buy an upgraded hose for these heaters.
can't believe I just watched a video about paint drying and loved it. All the best and enjoy your Holidays and thanks for having us all along for your adventure!!
hey brother you need to drop a piece of silver in that water tank . silver is a natural purifier of water . haven't you seen the ads that say hey dirty water silver coin ? lol . but it works for real add a piece of silver to your water tank . its also very good for you as well . other then that dog house looks great . MERRY CHRISTMAS TO YOU KYPER SARAH TEA TOE AND THE REST OF THE RING WORM FAMILY !
That dog's leading it's best life running free through the trees like his forefathers the Wolves, its such a cruel life you're giving him, NOT. He reminds me of Call of the Wild Buck running in front of a sled, Merry Christmas 🎄🎅
Growing up we had a beagle, Chester. He was such a good old dog. My parents never let him inside. 😢. He slept in the front porch which had no door, on a number of blankets. WI gets very cold in the winter and looking back, that good dog survived the freezing cold of WI winters. Much shorter hair than your sweet Kyper. I don’t think you need to worry about him being cold. Kyper’s coat will keep the him totally comfy in his amazing dog house as it is now. He is a lucky pup🐕🤗. Thanks for bringing this memory back to me. I miss old Chester. 🐕😢
The pilot light on those buddy heaters gets plugged up over time, you can clean it with a Q-tip (pull some cotton off until it fits in the hole) and some rubbing alcohol.
Merry Christmas Ryan, Sara , Teto & of course Kyper !! I'm very much looking forward to 4 more years of Ringworm as I caught your very first video and haven't missed a single one sense. I know,,,what's wrong with me ? LOL! Though I am on grid still , we live very similar life styles as I'm on a road with only 4 neighbors all very far apart with no other houses for 6 miles after us . The road is also closed 5 months out of the year just after me and my 2 dogs , with nothing but timber company and state land for 6 miles after that before you come to the next house. My cabin sits on a nice brook in a saddle between the 3 highest peaks in the area and I can go miles & miles through the woods before even finding another road and if I see more than 3-4 cars come by here all day ,,it's a traffic jam requiring traffic control ! LOL I only wish I'd moved here years ago instead of waiting till I was in my 70's to do so, but none the less, it's still awesome . Even though I'd always lived in very rural communities in the past , they didn't hold a candle to here on the mountain . Life couldn't be any better here @ the high Mountain Homestead !! You guys ever get to VT , you all have an open invite and you'd all fit right in as I'm a goof ball too and with Ryan and I both having worked in marinas and with the Forest Service for years , I'm sure we'd have some good stories to share and we'd all hit it off very well ?
Merry Christmas.... I hope you have an enjoyable time during the holidays in your amazing spot. Keep those videos coming, always looking forward to them.
Those rubber hoses that you use with propane tend to generate oil. They make a filter to keep from fouling your heaters. That oil is evil for those Mr. buddy heaters. If you use just metal connecters for conveyance of propane from one container to another or use in a heater or light it doesn't generate that nasty oil.
Have you looked in to Diesel heater? Super efficient. Cheaper to run than propane. Dry heat. Glad your back is some better. Hope you can avoid surgery as I have. Merry Christmas
Agreed, I've been heating with just a diesel heater and wood stove only , for >7 years now and it heats my 700 sq ft cabin just fine. At my old place , though double the size , I'd go through 3-4 , 275 gallon tanks of fuel, now I only use 3 cords of wood and about 50-60 gallons tops for the whole heating season which is 5 months out of the year here in VT . The wood is off my 20+ acres so I'll never run out. I am on grid , but barely as mine is the next to the last place to have power here on the mountain and come snowfall , the road is closed 5 months out of the year 400 yards away and there is no other houses for 6 miles after that . Just timber company and state land,,, I LOVE IT !!! Life is good @ the High Mountain Homestead !!
Ryan that big baby loves you so much! That is the joy of the season. What a gift. Just watching him sharing his love for his boy is my gift for the day🥰. 👵🇨🇦👋
That’s one happy dog, I love the fact that you have a companion

Pineapples or fruit cocktail goes well with cottage cheese

I’m too deeply invested in another brand to change now, but Ryobi has a huge selection of tools.
Time to update your Ringworm sign for Kaiper! Population: 2!

get one of those vevor diesel heaters. they're cheap and they can exhaust outside.

They make a filter for that heater to help keep the oil out when using a rubber hose like that.
ANother fine video at Ringworm! Your dog is growing by leaps and bounds. What a good pal! Keep on keeping on! Merry Christmas!
Cinnamon rolls heated up yum
Just wait until he moves in & ignores you....😂😛

Scramble some eggs, then add cottage cheese. The cheese melts a little bit. It's the best.
Merry Christmas to the two of you.
Hi Ryan nice job on the dog house merry Christmas 👍💖💕❤️🥰🇺🇸🙏🎄🎄🎄
Gotta hold down the Buddy heater on start for about 90 seconds for it to prime. It says so, on the directions on the back. ;)
For cottage cheese Black Pepper is good. Its also good on cantaloupe
My favorite is Mandarin oranges in the little plastic fruit cups; now I'm getting hungry!

Cottage cheese is good with Doritos. I know it sounds weird but you should try it. It’s also good with fruits and candy
👋🏻 hi Yankee! Southerners put pineapple on our cottage cheese!!!
Hot sauce is the ultimate add for cottage cheese, salsa works in a pinch

I HAVE HAD 5 BERNERS NOW AND NOT A ONE WAS INTERESTED IN RETRIEVING A BALL OR STICK.THEY CHASE THE BALL AND POINT OUT TO ME WERE I CAN CME TO GET IT!
There is an inline filter that screws onto your Buddy heater that protects it.
Cyper needs a step
Missed a spot
Hey Ryan , imagine this as a substitute for the sticks platform. Put screws or nails thru a board, then put it on the floor, points down. 😊
mix some good salsa with that cottage cheese....grab some tortilla chips and a drink of your choice...you're all set.
Thought

when using hoses with those heaters, there is a filter you need to use, the interior of the hoses deteriorate and it clogs the heaters.
I use a filter on the hose to stop the oil from getting through! Happy Holidays!
