Ive been a fan of your channel for many years! Recently started looking through your channel and I’ve noticed you don’t have anything on VEO’s, East-European shepherds. I’d LOVE one day to see this amazing breed on your channel!
I still have never found the answer to the question "Why did breeders fuck up the hips and posture of German shepherds?," but they did. It is very hard to find a healthy GS these days. They're not supposed to have these sloping backs, but it's virtually all you see nowadays.
It's actually quite easy, get a working line. I've even seen some show lines that are nice and have straight backs but a lot of the Big show dogs and fortunately tend to have too much slope and hind leg over angulation. The misconception is because the German Shepherd is stacked in the show ring in a different stance similar to how horses are shown to show off the body. It is the belief and Zeke has another video on this from Taylor Made working dogs Taylor talking about this, that the show line breeders saw the stacked position with the dogs top-line angling down, and liked how it looked and believe the dog should stand like that normally. That is not the intent. Once you pull the legs back up the dog is supposed to have a straight back. But it's also the angulation of the rear legs so it's two things really. Most of the working lines are unaffected
@@primalcritters Well there must not be a lot of working line Alsatians in Holland then, 'cause I never see them. Just the mutilated ones. A good GS is a beautiful dog to behold.
But in Holland you should have access to some of the best working lines. If not in your country, then imported from Germany. Though I'm not sure the kind of prices you'd be looking at for something like that... Cheaper for sure than it would be to import to Aus haha.

Unless they are crossed of course like many of the herders, those dogs can be a lot more sizable because of the outcrossing
@@primalcritters "Yes the beautiful dogs are the German Shepherds," In many ways GSDs are beautiful, but for a lot of lines that only really goes for the head to the shoulders. Malinois of all sizes are stunning! And not all are larger simply because of outcrossing, though a thoughtful outcrossing is not necessarily a bad thing,

Yeah not the breed for me. All my experience with the breed it attacks people for no reason. I’ve seen one run out of peoples house just to start dragging a kid. The only dog I’ve seen loose that will run across the street to start a confrontation.
People don't understand what they're getting when they buy a GSD. And they let it run their lives. They don't "attack people for no reason", unless they're neurologically damaged. American GSds are different than European. The European gsds are very stable dogs. It’s back yard breeding that led to the neurotic and anxious and reactive nature you probably saw growing up. The European gsd is a totally different dog and is the best guardian for your family.
