I could not believe what I found in my dishwasher filter. I have a countertop dishwasher and I thought that if I just rinsed out the filter that would suffice. I live in an RV and so at night is when I rinse out the filter outside. It's dark so I would not have noticed the clear to white slime build up taking place. I thought the dishwasher detergent would take care of that since it's pretty strong, slightly corrosive to get the food particles off and dishes squeeky clean. I was shocked and disgusted by what I found out while rinsing the filter out during the day. Hence finding myself watching your video. Great video and info. I won't be allowing that to happen again. Thank you!

I'm not sure what that filter is made of, but if it's metal, direct bleach can corrode many metals, which is why washing machines have a special way to put bleach in. Renae the appliance repair tech @renduh taught me that. 😊 Other videos say soap and water is fine for cleaning the filter. You just have to make sure it's rinsed well to avoid soapy foam, I would think. 🤔

You can also detached the long part from the panel. Just look for the tap to push in and remove 😊

Im lazy and just rinse it out out once a month. Its not too bad cause I rinse off my dishes before loading. But now Im thinking maybe it needs a bleach scrub

Mine was also stuck. After several tries, it came off. The filter was disgusting! I’m in a rental and I’m sure whoever lived here before me never cleaned it! Yuck!!!

Do you still have your manual? You can check there to see if your model has a filter or you can google your make and model. But yes, lots of older models don't have them.

Depending on the age of the dishwasher it might not have one. Check your manual if you have it or google your make and model.
