Freestyling is a skill that can be learned and improved. In my opinion, you can't be called a competent musician of your instrument if you're unable to freestyle
@@SmokervelliSam13 I'm not saying every rapper needs to make a fire freestyle because not everyone is a Harry Mack. But they should be able to lay down some bars off the top. It's a skill that shows they have a good understanding of the foundations
Freestyle is a different and (imo) unnecessary skill set to have. If you make good music off pen and paper, why should we care if you can freestyle or not. That being said, walking away from a xxl freestyle is lame. You were given an opportunity and a platform. You could at least respect that. Plus everyone knows xxl freestyles are for fun, if you're shit you're shit. You'll get memed on for a few weeks and if you're musics straight, people will move on.

I don’t think you should have to be able to freestyle to be dope, some people just can’t, but that don’t mean they can’t still hold a flow and right good music.
Mainstream rap is in a really bad place right now. People just don't want to hear it.
