Our journey begins with a trip from Mt Magazine and takes us to some incredible stops along the way, including the Center of the Universe, Tulsa OK, the World's Largest Van Gogh, the World's Tallest Mennonite, and the Veterans Memorial at North Glen Colorado. Our stay at the Estes Park East Portal Campground was a peaceful retreat in the midst of stunning natural beauty. Come along with us and experience the majesty of the Rocky Mountains for yourself!
The downtown area of Tulsa has an interesting spot that is known as the "Center of the Universe". This location is marked by a small concrete circle surrounded by a larger circle of bricks. Although it may not look like much, the real attraction is the mysterious acoustic phenomenon that occurs here. If you stand in the middle of the circle and make a noise, the sound will be echoed back several times louder than it was made. It's like having your very own amplified echo chamber, and it's definitely worth checking out!
The tallest, sturdiest Mennonite in Kansas stands 17 feet tall in Athletic Park. He is the Mennonite Settler Statue built in 1942 out of Kansas limestone. The Mennonite statue was not a Mennonite-initiated project.
There is a massive Vincent van Gogh replica painting that was erected in 2001. It sits on an 80-foot easel that weighs 40,000 lbs. This painting is one of only three in the world, and it is part of a project that aims to reproduce all seven of van Gogh's sunflower paintings on giant easels in seven different countries. The project is expected to be included in the Guinness Book of World Records. The painting is located in a park complex that includes Pioneer Park, which is positioned directly west of the painting. This amazing work of art can be found along the Land and Sky Scenic Byway.
The Northglenn Veterans Memorial is a 23-foot-tall metal American flag with ten soldiers of relevant wars popping out from between the stripes. It has a beautiful park surrounding the area and the kids loved the playground.
Rocky Mountain National Park and Estes Park East Portal Campground are two of the most beautiful and scenic destinations in the United States.
