Props to Mark Henry for this as well. The hand on Taker's thigh really helps him get him up, as well as trusting Taker to execute this move. Two of the greatest.
And the reason Taker use The Last Ride as primary finisher between 2000-2003 was his knees. He didn't perform Tombstone each week but rather almost everyday due to house shows aren't taped or televised.
Awesome moment indeed, but I wish it didn’t cut so soon; Angle then gets into Taker’s face & holding the World Heavyweight Championship close & the show ends with them quietly trash talking (this was the last Smackdown before No Way Out 2006 Angle vs Taker in probably their best match ever!)
Taker's adrenaline here was unreal. The way he lifted Mark up was nuts! Homage to the original tombstone too with Mark Henry being held to one side instead of Mark's legs either side of Taker's head.
Yes picking up Henry is impressive in itself. Walking with him to the center of the ring to get in position is insane. BUT to then just bring all that weight down on both knees??!! And walk away after that? Thats Beyond impressive.
Mark Henry gave some assistance at the beginning but once he's in position, Undertaker has hold the weight, look at how he's keeping himself balanced. That's a lot of trust in that ring. Slip ups aren't a joke in pro wrestling.
Damn mark Henry is crazy athletic. To be able to throw basically 400lbs of momentum into taker without killing either one of themselves is crazy. Then taker being able to balance 400lbs and walking with him. Doing a full tombstone without snapping Henry’s neck is even more insane.
It shows just how strong the Undertaker was then. Mark Henry is the world's strongest man, and the Undertaker delivered a world's strongest Tombstone piledriver
That was incredibly strength.. Kurt said it All of his face reaction.. Understaker couldn't make it.. but Kurt was unbelievably looks on.. thinking how could he done that?
It’s one thing to lift someone in a fireman’s carry à la Brock Lesnar and John Cena. It’s another thing to carry someone in front of your chest without using your skeletal structure to hold them up. Takes sooooo much muscle to hold up Henry like that. Taker was a beast🔥
That's the worst move you can attempt with a man that size. To safely pull that move off is absolutely incredible. The spinal strength it took to do that is absurd.
Kurt should be significantly higher in the rankings of the greatest of all time. Ypu always knew what his role in a story was. Expressions, reactions: Always on point.
Mark Henry helped alot with that he jumped and turned himself around and with him turning himself around upside down like he did makes it so much easier for undertaker, plus when mark henry jumps upside down he puts his hand on undertakers knee and pushes himself up , team effort makes it easier for sure
Not that this wasn't an ungodly impressive feat, but physics helped Taker a lot here. Hoisting a man the size of Henry is impressive, but holding him high is another story. The way taker holds them from tombstone DOES alleviate a lot of that, although Im sure is still transferring a world of pressure on his knees. Most of the focus is preventing Henrys mass from sliding which is still considerably impressive.
I saw both Mark Henry and The Undertaker when they came to Strasbourg back in 2009. It was my first (and for now only, wish I could have been to Backlash 2024) WWE show, and I was shocked to see how big Taker was. When you see him on TV, he looks gigantic but he is bigger than that. And Mr. Henry was another breed of human. This man is fkn colossal, it was really scary to see such a massive guy. The perfect mix between a fridge and a tractor 😬
U can tell how much respect mark has for mark the way mark practically jumped high enough for mark to carry him & tombstone him i can't remember a time where it was tht eazy for anyone to lift mark like tht maybe except for John cena & big show..
