I appreciate that lots of content creators put out leaguestarters that are supposed to be easy to put together, but often they still consist of 90% non-understandable PoE lingo that most new players dont know what to with. This helps massively, even just being able to follow the stuff youre not explicitly explaining is better than googling the PoE wiki to try and understand what "krangling your transfigured gem" means for 30 minutes
Sweeeeeeeeet im totally new and have decided to play this as my first step int the world of PoE :) Thank you for this and i will watch and take notes as you go. Not having more then 1 monitor i can play along unfortunatly, but i play after i watch a act and so on.

itemization through story is really important as well,be very careful to hit the 75% res cap on at least act 5 because your res will be down 30%- each time you beat kitava(2 times in total),also learning some crafting recipes could help too,definately check out some leveling crafting recipes that helps you through campaign

having seen many guides, definitely the best. it might seem tedious to have to watch a full playthrough, BUT it is totally worth it. You actually take the time to explain everything and dont assume what a new player may know. well worth the watch if your trying to learn!
Thank you Ziz, I'm on my 4th proper league now ("Started" in sentinel but barely played as it was overwhelming) - this video and those like it are so helpful for getting my head round the more complicated things in PoE. Its so useful to, literally have everything explained as it's done, as it lets us learn as we go.

Before I contiue with my playthrough, I wanted to give a HUGE THANKS to Ziz and @subtractem for this guide and build. I never had quite so much fun going through the campagin. Time just flew by and I learned so much and so fast along the way.
On the feedback part I wanted to say that, yes the swap from magma to Raging spirit is quite daunting for a new player or someone like me who is off and on PoE and not that quite deep into it. But I can only encourage people to do it and learn! The build takes off like an airplane after!!!

Thanks for this. Trying to play for the first time this season and this has helped a lot. Just about to killing Kitara so far. Found a Lifesprig wand, which seems to be pretty good for this. I don't get to leap (just flame dashing instead), but +1 to skill gems is sweet.
You mention a few times that newbies are going to obsess over picking up things a little too much, and that definitely describes me. It would have been helpful to take like 2 minutes between each act to kind of call out things that we should be on the lookout for in the next act. Or even just listing off the most important things at the beginning and rough times when we should be looking for them. You mentioned a few as you were doing things, but it can be hard to keep up with what you are doing and what you are saying at times. For something as specific as what we need for the swap to SRS, it would be nice to have that explained in a calm moment in town so its sure that people catch they should be on the look out for specifically a piece of gear that has 4 sockets, 2 blue and 2 red.
Also, you mentioned that getting a chance orb was the difference in someone winning or losing a ladder race, which lets us know that its good. But we still don't have much context of when and what you would use them for. Is it just for buying at important item at some point? Is it for using its power? If so, on what kind of item, and when? I am sure its different for different builds, but right now finding them is like "hey thats supposed to be kind of lucky...I don't know why. But yay?"
I am really enjoying PoE so far. A few things for you to know about the new player experience, maybe not for this specific content, but for your more generic "newbie" content. Some of this may have been mentioned but I did not adequately pick it up before play, even having watched a lot of videos on PoE.
a) It would have been very helpful upfront to know that PoE is an ARPG about building up a wide array of currencies. Each of these currencies let you modify your gear in different ways. You don't have to list them all out or anything, but just knowing those two sentences above is incredibly helpful context. Would also help to get some rough loot philosophy. We get a bit of that in this when you talk about socket pressure, or tell us we are picking up too much loot. But we don't get a lot of information to help us make better choices. Having rough numbers of how much we should have of a given currency before we stop doing whatever gives them would help. How many Alteration and Augmentation shards/orbs/chroma should I have stacked up? I would bet its a lot less than what I have. I see that I mainly get those when selling gear, and am at the point that I can identify how I am getting each one mostly. So I could scale back what I am picking up if I had any idea when enough is enough. This is also definitely a place where I am 100% happy to be lied to also. Having a clear guideline that I can steer towards would help keep me on target of actually getting through the campaign rather than going back to sell a bunch of mostly unidentified items again.
b) I totally misunderstood and was hugely intimidated by all the past league mechanics. Until I resolved to just play and watch along with this video, I thought these mechanics were all only for Maps forward, and I was going to need to level up to that Tier before ever experiencing them. Which then caused a lot of hesitation and stress from worrying that the build I chose to play would only be good for league mechanics that I don't enjoy playing.
c) Further, I think it might be a disservice to new players to use Blight as the clearest example of league mechanics. When league mechanics get mentioned in videos, they usually get kind of glazed over, then Blight gets the most information given on it with something like "Blight is a tower defense mode". While that is cool, its incredibly intimidating to a new player. When thats the clearest example, the mind fills in the gap and expects that there could be all sorts of similarly distinct from standard ARPG play modes. Instead, a lot of the league mechanics that I have run into during play can be described as "mini dungeon with another layer of difficulty, and slightly different loot". I know there are likely deep implications for the differences in difficulty and loot at endgame, but for a newbie, it would actually have been very good to know that I can engage in many of the league mechanics by just playing normally. It may not be optimal, but I don't have to expect to learn 20 different games like it kind of feels like when you get told one is tower defense and you know nothing of the others.
d) It would be helpful to be told straight up how long we should expect to be in each kind of phase of the game, and some explanation of how this is different from other ARPGs. How long should we expect to play through our first campaign? I am probably on track to do it in like 40 hours if I estimated based on where I am so far. About how long does it take when you are experienced? Looks like 8 hours is a reasonable estimate, based on this video. How long does a person usually play their starter before they have enough currency built up to start their more specialized secondary character? The game became so much less intimidating when I started to grasp these timelines and knowing things like its somewhat expected that you will have a starter character and then another specialized endgame character later. In other ARPGs I have played, characters after your first are usually just diversions to keep things fresh, which is kind of the polar opposite. It is a lot less stressful playing on the starter now that I know if I do mess something up, I am just delaying how long it is until my endgame character is ready, not making a type 1 error that will affect me all season.
@@eepopgames2741 I will answer a few things since I think your post shows a lot of insight on how new players think.

You don't want to pick up items to sell for currency. This is a waste of time. One exception: Chaos recipe in maps. You only pick up currency when it drops directly. How many you need? Well you can spend thousands(!) of chromatics or all of the other to roll your gear (the crafting system sadly feels like gambling).

That's normal. Just try them and don't really bother about them. Most people like maybe one or two and ignore the rest. There are league mechanics I have done like two times in my life (Heist). As a beginner you won't skill for a specific mechanic anyway. You lack the experience and currency. And with "normal" build like this, you can do all reasonably well, no worries.

That's ok. Experienced players will be a lot faster since they just rush trough the maps without picking much up and without killing lots of mobs, you don't want to overlevel. The most important stat for faster leveling is movement speed. Yes, really. You want to get to the next zone as fast as possible and it makes a **huge** difference. If boots don't have +movement speed, just throw them away. Also very important to have +30 in maps of course. I'm somewhat of a semi-casual. I play every couple of leagues and the fastest I got was like 10h. Of course it becomes a bit dreadful doing the campaign for the thousands time.

Because I hate leveling, I never play a second character in a league. That's totally fine too. Lots of people only play one character.

im thinking of starting srs but as a champion. supposedly scales better but worse as a starter? does anyone know if im totally shooting my self in the foot doing this or should i just go with guardian which seems like it scales a lot less into endgame, but is better / easier to start with ? thx.

Since you are saying that damagescaling with attack-gems works different and players need to take care of weapon choice / crafting early on, i would love to see an playthrought with exactly this mechanic. Maybe an archer? Love bows

Thanks so much for this dude I started playing POE at release and the last league i played was essence, so its been a while. Been wanting to get back into the game for a while but it's become some convoluted with systems is pretty crazy I'm not someone who wants to sit and watch several hours worth of guides just to play a game. So being able to put you on the second monitor while i play along is great. I always disliked trading as well imo it favors people who can play all day everyday and clean up in the first few weeks of a league i hope to see this gone in POE 2

Why do you take leap slam? I am new to the game and I am using the lvling guide I dont get why we take this ability, it also means keeping a scepter equipped as suggested when I have a wand with minion damage on it? I also have yet to see anyone actually use it.

If you're confused about anything youtube is usually the best place to find answers, the wiki is OK and global chat will probably not helpful.
In your first league you might not get very far, just try and make it to maps. Generally every league people learn more and get better.
Getting one shot and running into rare mobs you cant kill occasionally is normal, sometimes the random modifiers conspire against you.
Most importantly, if you're having fun you are playing the game correctly!
@@MrSeventyAce hey thanks a lot I’m learning this game as I go. With this guide or playthrough which have been awesome so far I’ve made it to act 4. In every area I’m completing everything so I pause and run the entire map kill mostly all enemies so I’m even above him as far as level in the playthrough I dnt use. Skill points until he do so and of course it’s rng so my armor and stats dnt completely align with his but im not dying and yes its been fun so far.

Summon Sentinel of Radiance, obtained from the Guardian ascendancy
FYI according to the wiki the sentinel's damage has been cut in half starting next season as well as had its lvl cap lowered by 5 so it may be a bit slower.

New player ... This was supremely helpful. I followed the guide with some additional exploring and league mechanics here and there and by the time I got to act 9, I was already level 69. But i thought there were 10 acts? do you only move on to maps from here? Also, you mentioned a second ascendancy...did you mean more points for the current ascendancy or a whole separate one?
There are 10 acts but Ziz often ends his playthroughs when he gets to act 9, I guess because there's not much left to explain as far as game mechanics. He has other videos on what to do to get started in maps after the campaign, including his Everything Explained from Trial of the Ancestors league. And by "second ascendancy" he means second labyrinth, there are 4 labs and each gives you 2 more ascendancy points to allocate
I'm currently in act 4 and trying to transition to SRS but I just can't find the gear with the right sockets 😅 I should've been on the lookout for gear earlier on
So I'm a super noob, I have a question.... What if the guide says Blue socket connected to Red socket.... but I have gear that Red Socket connected to blue socket... Does the order of the Sockets matters an does the order in which I place my gems matter?
Hmm I think I may try this build. I have 2,600 hours in path of exile, played from the very beginning, and still every I come back I feel like I know absolutely nothing lol. I've never gone SRS but this looks interesting. I know it is a tough find but I like a good bosser/mapper. Would SRS be a bit slow in the mapping, if so I prefer boss strength over map speed usually.
That's why you gem swap Melee Splash/Multistrike.

Is the summon sentinel of radiance, he clicks the skills called "convocation" that makes the sentinel appear where you click it and boom
Is there a discord or subreddit for Poe players looking for co op partners? I just dropped this einhar memory of harvest and it’d be nice to have some people to talk to in this game so I don’t mess up pricing or using it. Been playing in ssf for years. Also, this build has taken me into t16 maps, thanks Ziz!

IMO, should have suggested that newer players pick up and use armour before heading into mudflats.suggesting that they use a coral ring also would have helped them with survivavility

PoB is great, IF you play on PC.
I am well aware that console does not have the player base that PC does, but console players really need a console friendly "PoB" style guide.
I tried POE years back when it first came out ( which was aroudn the end of D2 ) when it first came out got bored well actually more rustrated way to much info so I stopped , started I thiunk a couple years back still same thing gave up yeterday decided to start again and I am really apreciating the info and time you are giving to show at eat myself hopw to do things properly , myself I can level toons easily its just where to put those levels tha tmesses me up so far I am following you an the guide and am enjoying this game more hen before so keep it up iof you are enjoying what you are doing :)
Convocation is an act 3 gem and you dont need library, also you can mule ranger for momentum which saves a lot of time

Who mules ranger for momentum. You mule for pierce. Momentum’s a meme
@@DarkBiCin momentum is straight 15% AS Buff to Shield Charge/Leap Slam, and scales to 17-18% untill u switch to Faster Attacks in act 6 which give 20%. Muling for momentum takes exactly 1 minute, plus u get free shop refresh basically to search for links. If you're casual andy who just stumbles through the acts than obviously do without it
