    Glad you mentioned our 10 point border in Sicily, it's fascinating how 10 municipalities come together at the top of Mt. Aetna all in one point to make the only 10 point border in the world. Too bad you can't really get to the exact spot cause you know, active volcano... but very close and once you're at the top you can run around it and circle it and move from municipality to municipality in a few minutes.

    The quad poin border between Namibia, Bostwana, Zambia and Zinbauwe existed until very recently. I crossed that quad border in june 2001, and I have a picture of me in a boat just in the middle of the Zambezi river,exactly where the four countries meet at that time . But Zambia and Bostwana decided in 2014 to build a bridge at this place, and , you know, a bridge needs some space to be build , So, the four contries decided to separate the tri borders by about 150 meters, just to make room for the bridge to be buid. The bridge was finally completed this year 2021.

    When there is a "Point" boarder, it starts with at least an "tri-point" border as there just can't be a "di-point" boarder. Once that point is formed, there's a very little chance for a forth border line to start from that exact point, therefore "quadro-point" boarders are way rarer and whenever there is one, it's often due to a crossing of two border lines drawn all at once.

  • @Bryzerse

      I truly hated this. The subject matter was fine, but you really need to learn to speak coherently, "boi."
      This was nervous, rushed and frequently muddled. Your English teacher did you no favours either.
      I had to stop before the end of this, as trying to listen to you was giving me an actual headache, which went away as soon as I hit pause.

      I demand you to change your name to "Grammar Nazi" instead of Joes WebPresence.

    • @JoesWebPresence
      @JoesWebPresence 7 років тому +1

      It wasn't so much the grammar, as the delivery I had a problem with. The English language is rich, smooth and luxurious. It can be poured out in such a way as to drizzle sweetly across a person's very soul, leading us to be enriched, inspired and informed simultaneously. Shakespear, Chaucer, Shelley, Milton, the lyrical works of James Hendrix and Peter Townshend. Their skillful use of words has moved and inspired millions!
      But this like. . .doing the . . . er . . .whole SPEAKING thing, when you like. . . just don't . . .er . .have the vocabulary, and you're like, speeding through it because you're nervous, makes it difficult to like . . . listen to, which makes it difficult to . . .er . . . you know . . .understand ! ! ! ! ! Like DUH ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !
      I am lamenting the loss of diction and linguistic skill, not grammar. He needs to read more. Breathe more. Think more, and CARE more about the words he chooses to convey his ideas. It's a common problem. So many kids assume they are like . . . educated, so they know like, ALL the words, and . . .er . . . like ALL about how to use them, but when they . . . um . . . get like tested and stuff, it turns out that they like don't know shit!
      It appears that each generation of children fails to grasp the extent to which things have been dumbed down for them, in order to explain them. Combined with each generation of teachers being guilty of using fewer of these complex words and phrases in their lessons, so as not to confuse the little dears, and here we are, almost returned to the point of incoherence and grunting.
      "It's . .er . .like . .um . .really bad! No! Dude! Seriously . .er . .like uh give it . .uh . . I don't know fifty years, and they won't like . . .ah . . .ah. . .woah dude I don't know how to say it! Uh, you know, . . . when you get the like . .pictures in YOUR head, to go in to THEIR head! Some big sciency word! I better google it so I can make a youtube video like warning everybody."

    • @JoesWebPresence
      @JoesWebPresence 7 років тому

      I am coherent at parties, and don't cause headaches in those listening. I breathe, and gather my thoughts before I attempt to express them. I care whether I am communicating clearly and effectively.
      If this WERE at a party, I would simply tune out the annoying guy with the poor diction and machine gun presentation style, but it isn't just some snippet of background conversation at a party, is it Cheesycurve. It's a youtube video narration, which I assume was a serious attempt at public speaking to better inform people about a geographical issue.
      The context is clearly important here, and those two settings do NOT have the same expectations on the speaker. If this was a kid trying to explain something to his classmate in the hallway, I would ignore it and move away from the din. If it was the same kid making a presentation to his geography class, I would mark him down for the reasons I outlined above and openly criticise his English teacher in the staff room. If he was making his presentation before the entire school, I would stop him, tell him to breathe, calm down and speak more clearly. If it were the same kid in his first day at work for a TV news station, I would fire him, and the person in HR who hired such an incoherent, poorly educated kid to present the news. In this situation, where he is subjecting me and many others to this torture on a youtube video, I will give negative feedback and outline why, in the hopes that he makes an effort next time.
      I have standards for what I watch on youtube, and this does not meet those standards. What that has to do with how much fun I am at parties is, I am afraid completely lost on me.
      Did YOU enjoy listening to him? Why not try playing this audio to ten people over 30, and ask THEM if they agree or disagree with what I have said here.
      I stand by my point that we are on a downward spiral towards ignorance and incoherence if we tolerate piss poor communication skills like these, and hope that point has been clear and effective, otherwise why bother? I would leave it to someone who COULD clearly and effectively communicate, while I went off to practice in front of a mirror or something.

    There has been at least one quadripoint in history. Between 1839 and 1920 Belgium, the Netherlands, Prussia/Germany and the Condominium of Moresnet shared one point which was deemed as a quadripoint. Even though the Condominium of Moresnet was never truly a country but more a neutral territory between the Netherlands and Prussia/Germany at first and after 1839 between Belgium and Prussia/Germany, it's still counted as one of the only quadripoints to have ever existed between 4 nations.

    • @Quintinohthree
      @Quintinohthree 6 років тому

      Ryu the Smasher Interestingly, the current tripoint is still at the location of the original quadripoint, despite the border between Belgium and Germany moving East past the original border of Moresnet after WWI. Also, there are three roads leading to this tripoint, one from each country. From Belgium the Route des Trois Bornes ('Road of Three Borders'), from Germany the Dreiländerweg ('Three-Country-Road') and from the Nethetlands the Viergrenzenweg ('Four-Border-Road'), meaning this once quadripoint is still comemorated in the road to it from the Netherlands.

    Actually, the tri-point that you visited between Germany, Belgium and The Netherlands used to be an actual quad-point between 1839 and 1919 where the aforementioned three countries and the microstate Neutral Moresnet used to meet. So if you'd just visited that same place a little over 100 years ago, you'd have been at the only quad-point in the world!

    Hi ibx2cat, Nice to know that you recently visited the Netherlands (at least the border). In your video at 0:46 you can also read the streetnames around the border which are funny. On the Belgian and German sides the street names are 'Routes des Trois Bornes' and 'Dreilanderweg' (meaning 3 countries border road) while the Dutch street is called 'viergrenzenweg' (meaning 4 countries border road). As others will mention, historically (until WWI) there was a 4th country located between Belgium and Germany.

    quad point border would also mean you have to get either military acces from one of the other countries to invade the one furthest from you, which isn't very likely to happen
