I just found this & experiencing driving through the mountains in the snow in my chair at home, lol I’m Canadian and living in the south and miss snow so much. When I was young 50 years ago, I drove from Vancouver to Calgary New Year’s Eve at night just to see my sister and celebrate. It was snowing all the way I was the only car out there and it was so peaceful and beautiful..

When it comes to keeping a little space...especially on a snowy, icy road some driver's have no sense at all, let alone being able to read the road. They should have to drive the Sno Chi Minh trail between Laramie and Rawlins (I-80) where you have to stop every 10 mi in a snowstorm, get out and kick the snow and ice out of the wheel wells so you can steer again. There is nothing like the Sno Chi Minh trail to teach a little r.e.s.p.e.c.t. for the road and other drivers, especially truckers.
Sadly though, we lose kids every year up here, who are killed in wrecks, no seat belts, too fast for conditions etc. They learned to drive on those roads. Heartbreaking.

Well, I've just checked Your route on google and I noticed I was close to Your trip in Keystone Mountain Ski Resort in 1997 I suppose, on a one week GEO Summit (Conference). I remember that well because it took part also in the middle of the winter and the road from Denver airport to ski resort was just like on Your movie. Thank You a lot for bringing me back my memories from that event. Thank You and God Bless You in your hard work. Greetings from Kalisz, in Poland. Best regards Peter.

Beautiful. I used to go up to northern Maine in the winter to haul potatoes back to NC. Constant snow without the mountains. That’s just absolutely beautiful. I would go down to Florida in the sunshine and sweat and couldn’t wait to get back to the snow. That’s was a great run. I lived in NC 2 miles from ‘South of the Border’ (Pedro) which was 1/2 way between Miami and NYC. Would get home twice a week with the produce from Florida to Boston and the potatoes back.

My parents (both gone now) were married in the 1950's. They lived in Aurora for while. My father loved the mountains, though my mom did not - but she loved to accompany dad .
I remember her recalling a drive up over Berthoud Pass and how scared she was !
I wonder if this is the same road - though certainly much improved from the 1950's.
Not sure if I could handle this drive !

no matter the weather or road conditions, if you're not riding the vehicles ass in front. the vehicle behind thinks you're driving to slow 🐌 😑 barefoot driving in snow-covered roads is an art form, not many semi drivers have that skill any longer. it was my favorite time driving. good driving Mike.

Hi Mike, thanks for the drive through the mountain road with all that beautiful scenery. I can understand your frustration with drivers who just have to get ahead of a semi, I experienced it too and not just on snowy conditions. Man, I know I've commented on a few of your videos lately....and I feel like you and I were twin drivers that were separated at birth. I'm not a trucker, but I always exercise caution. People always giving me sh!t about how I drive in the rain and snow. It drives me crazy when people pass me in poor road conditions, then put on their brakes, continue at the same speed I am going, and ruin the safety space I intentionally left between me and the next vehicle. Much like yourself, I just don't understand what these people are thinking, or how they think they are going to get somewhere faster in conditions like these. Thank you for posting these videos.

Hi Mike, regarding your comment about heating portions of the highway. There is a guy in Buffalo who is a UA-camr and he has quite a sophisticated system for a heated driveway at his home. Well, it got overwhelmed by the last big storm, it couldn't keep up and turned much of it into ice. He says he will no longer try to heat the driveway anymore in a big storm otherwise it works great.

My father drove an 18-wheeler when I was a child, so I've spent many hours in the cab. It taught me about momentum and braking zones. Later in life that experience has made me very respectful around 18-wheelers. It's easy to double-flash to allow them to pass and keep their momentum. That costs so little of my time. I never tailgate a semi or cut in front. Both of those maneuvers threaten my safety. I am a professional driver (on 4 wheels) so I see lots of poor drivers and some of those are in semis. That makes me even more cautious around big rigs. 4-wheel drive causes courage to rise and brains to shrink. That technology just enables better starts, not better braking or cornering in slippery conditions. Slow down people. Thanks for the videos. Very enjoyable scenery and they are instructional to those that don't have any big-rig experience.

I thought Berthoud Pass was pretty bad in winter in a 4WD Pickup back in the days when I was there. Rather be behind a truck than in front in such weather. Worst wreck I recall was a runaway on Rabbit Ears. Truck with big farm tractor - killed the driver, picked the pieces up on 3 loads.

Dang, that pass is 11,300 ft. up! Road looks slicker 'n' fresh snot on a crystal glass doorknob. Great video and great driving!
Bet that would be a great bike road in summer months.

Amazing how city drivers will keep their sane exact driving habits on the open road. Like in 12:55. All three are bumper to bumper. The only reason why I travel at night. Their all asleep and not on the road.

I used to drive a Greyhound Bus from Denver to Salt Lake City via US 40 in that sweet stuff when they closed I 70 down. Retired now but miss the runs.
