These came out gorgeous! Thank you for sharing how you make rolags on the drum carder! I've been curious about it.
Your welcome!
This was such a fun video to watch! I just ordered a Brother Drum Carder, but I opted for the 90 TPI. Not having a ton of experience, my thinking was a finer TPI would mean more blending with fewer passes. You said you had a 54 TPI. Why did you opt for a courser cloth? Also - I've never seen angelina sandwiched like that, or seen different colors sandwiched before feeding it through. I love seeing people use their drum carders to see all the awesome, creative ways to make batts. Thanks so much for this!
I chose the 54 tpi because I got the Baby Brother and that's what the tpi is on it. I loved it so much, I decided to stick with the course tpi so I can card crazy art batts and anything smooth. Yes, it takes a little more work to get a super smooth batt from fleece, but I just prefer how easy it is to use. I can't tell much of a difference between the 54 and 90 tpi (friend has one) so I think you made a good choice.
If you have a good carder, which Brother is, you can sandwich fibers and card them that way to maximize blending and minimize stuff getting caught in the licker. For angelina, I either paint it on the big drum, or I sandwich it between other fibers.
Beautiful rolags!! I heard from someone that a rubber doorstop can help stop the drum from moving. Haven't tried it yet myself. Love your videos!
Thank you! Oh, it does help quite a lot! You really need 2 rubber door stops but with this wheel, I can only use the one.
@@FairilyFiberFun I have the same carder but w/90 tpi. My pkg came w/ 2 doorsteps. I got mine at dollartree so inexpensive.
