Same thing with Killing Voice, in most of the songs Wendy's voice actually sounded better and much more seasoned than in the original album tracks. How many idols can say they sound way better live than in their studio recordings? Probably less than five, and Wendy is for sure one of them.

Wendy's vocal runs and belting in this comeback have skyrocketed in precision, resonance, and agility. I really think she has gotten a "vocal glow-up" after Rebecca similar to Solar's after Mata Hari. Musical Theater and Pop have similar vocal techniques, but (in my opinion) there is better vocal training for Musical Theater than for Pop music (or maybe it has been standardized better?).
Wendy is amazing. I am so glad she got to perform the way she obviously wanted to. One of my favorite parts of the show is watching Lee Mujin react ;) You know when he's bent over he's losing his **** but is trying not to distract the singer. This ranks with the Lily episdoe for LM simping.

She is a genius and an all rounded artist. She can do the hardest part of singing and make it look/sound easy that's why it is pleasing to the ears. The thing about Wendy as a Duet partner is that she's such a blessing for male vocalists or any vocal partner ! Like, she takes immense care to not overpower the vocals on them and give a balanced performance. The best example would be duet of Chanyeol & Wendy singing 'stay with me' in SMTOWN 2017 performance. He's a deep tone rapper-cum-vocalist and you could see he appreciated it so much :)

Wendy is the best current k-pop vocalist in an active band. She's passionate and committed. She's a self-made woman. She's also one of the best vocalists of any generation, along with SNSD Taeyon, F(x) Luna and The Grace Lina. I recommend you take a look at the latter two artists too.

Have you ever heard Wendy's song called What If Love? It is from the kdrama Touch Your Heart. I would love to hear you react to it. The video features the amazing actors from the drama, but Wendy's voice is so impactful. Whenever they played the song in the drama, I literally was floored by her vocals. I think you would love it. Wendy actually has some great solo songs outside of Like Water. Some of them she channels the legends like Whitney, Mariah, and Celine. She does amazing with slowly building to the climax of a song. Her lower register is phenomenal and then when she does belt, it's just icing on the cake. I think you would love her cover of Halo too. She was in high school and had a powerful voice back then. She sings much healthier now, but man, the power she had when she was younger floored me. I really love your analysis of Wendy's vocals. You touch on things I've said about Wendy that not all kpop fans understand, but growing up on R&B since the 70's I feel so connected to Wendy. She reminds me of singers of the past thar I grew up listening to and hope one day she delves more into R&B/Soul with her next releases.

Not a pro here, but yes. Not necessarily in a way that it'd become difficult, but it could be challenging. Singing is an art of breathing, by sitting down, you're limiting the lungs and diaphragm to fully expand and relax as well as restricting the airflow, which could affect in shortening your breath. As a result, your ability to support might not be as good as when you're singing in a good standing posture, and your support plays a big part in overall quality of your voice such as tone, resonance, and projection. Nevertheless, a capable vocalist should pretty much able to overcome this and singing in any position. If singing while sitting is troubling for them, they probably still lacking in basic techniques such as support to begin with.
This is my absolute favorite vocal analysis of yours Katriinka! Your joy and enthusiasm in watching Wendy sing is so endearing! 🥰😄 I think Wendy appeals to those of use who grew up listening to Whitney, Mariah and Celine's music. Those divas type of songs is seldom seen in pop music anymore (much less kpop) and when I first heard Wendy's solo album, it just locked me in because she reminds in so much of them. It's not necessarily what's popular these days, but it's GOOD music. She's a terrific singer, and still improving which is remarkable! ❤
There are a lot of good vocalists in kpop. I often say the others take you on a ferris wheel vocally, but with Wendy she takes you on a roller-coaster. You never know which direction those vocals will go or what note will come out of her or tone of voice she will use. To this day I don't know how Wendy can do a 3 second high note and make me lose my sh#t! I swear someone sprinkled her vocal cords with diamonds because she sounds rich asf 😂😂😂💎💎💎

Wendy is the best current k-pop vocalist in an active band. She's passionate and committed. She's a self-made woman. She's also one of the best vocalists of any generation, along with SNSD Taeyon, F(x) Luna and The Grace Lina. I recommend you take a look at the latter two artists too.

Wendy💙,my ult bias in Kpop....No words to say hw great she is.The way she handles those gorgeous nd sensitive low notes with incredible runs alongside her powerful belting.....this was the most important thing that made me fall in love. Red velvet was one of the first groups I discovered, nd on hearing Wendy, I was so much mesmerized that I felt the urge to discover the vocal heavy groups of Kpop, leading me to EXO and Mamamoo.These 3 groups, simply chef's kiss❤.

Have you ever heard Wendy's song called What If Love? It is from the kdrama Touch Your Heart. I would love to hear you react to it. The video features the amazing actors from the drama, but Wendy's voice is so impactful. Whenever they played the song in the drama, I literally was floored by her vocals.

Wendy actually has some great solo songs outside of Like Water. Some of them she channels the legends like Whitney, Mariah, and Celine.
She does amazing with slowly building to the climax of a song. Her lower register is phenomenal and then when she does belt, it's just icing on the cake.
I think you would love her cover of Halo too. She was in high school and had a powerful voice back then. She sings much healthier now, but man, the power she had when she was younger floored me.
I really love your analysis of Wendy's vocals. You touch on things I've said about Wendy that not all kpop fans understand, but growing up on R&B since the 70's I feel so connected to Wendy. She reminds me of singers of the past thar I grew up listening to and hope one day she delves more into R&B/Soul with her next releases.

I have question. Does it make a different when you sit while singing compared to standing? Is harder while sitting?

Not a pro here, but yes. Not necessarily in a way that it'd become difficult, but it could be challenging. Singing is an art of breathing, by sitting down, you're limiting the lungs and diaphragm to fully expand and relax as well as restricting the airflow, which could affect in shortening your breath. As a result, your ability to support might not be as good as when you're singing in a good standing posture, and your support plays a big part in overall quality of your voice such as tone, resonance, and projection.
Nevertheless, a capable vocalist should pretty much able to overcome this and singing in any position. If singing while sitting is troubling for them, they probably still lacking in basic techniques such as support to begin with.

Your joy and enthusiasm in watching Wendy sing is so endearing! 🥰😄 I think Wendy appeals to those of use who grew up listening to Whitney, Mariah and Celine's music. Those divas type of songs is seldom seen in pop music anymore (much less kpop) and when I first heard Wendy's solo album, it just locked me in because she reminds in so much of them. It's not necessarily what's popular these days, but it's GOOD music. She's a terrific singer, and still improving which is remarkable! ❤

There are a lot of good vocalists in kpop. I often say the others take you on a ferris wheel vocally, but with Wendy she takes you on a roller-coaster. You never know which direction those vocals will go or what note will come out of her or tone of voice she will use.
To this day I don't know how Wendy can do a 3 second high note and make me lose my sh#t!
