  • This is the full clip. This is the only footage of Art Kleps that exists, I believe.

Millbrook was a fantastic read. I had a copy of The Boo Hoo Bible back in the day. Art struck me as a very intelligent man, with a great sense of humor. I remember him writing about installing a kiddie type of train on some land where folks could ride around tripping and singing "Row Row Row Your Boat" as the Boo Hoo anthem.

:-) Is this the only footage of your father that exists, as far as you know?

@@Shroomeryslearyfan I think so. I know there are home movies of me as a baby, when my parents were still together. I don’t think my dad is in them, though. Where did you find this? My friend stumbled upon it, as an extra feature added to a b horror movie dvd called “Blood Freak”.

I found the full Beggar At The Gates on UA-cam actually. The channel is Vision Video. Your dad comes in at around 32 minutes. Thank you and Valerie Ross for bringing this to my attention. If you ever find any more video of your father, let me know. :-)

Just finished reading your father's book, Millbrook
Wanted to honour your Father and Mother's input to the movement,
even though their Input was not acknowledged that much.
Just a few things I remembered,
The psychedelic experience is not a spell, but the lifting of the spell. Not the sword in the stone but the sword out of the stone. Art Kleps
Enlightenment is exactly what freaks people out the most. Then what. Art Kleps
Empirical thinkers do not derive truth from an authority,
      But from experience.
It is experience and experience only and direct experience at that, Art Kleps
      One must face the facts,
before one can see through the facts. Art Kelps
      Love from the others.xxx

This Reminds me of my childhood here in Eugene, Oregon in the early 1970’s. Hanging out at Kesey’s Farm, parties at the Crow & Hog Farm Communes and at the Whale House on Floral hill drive. Long summers out at Oregon Country Faire/Renaissance Faire in 70’s early 80’s. My folks were ‘Heads’-Acid Heads, not hippies, they always noting that there was a huge difference. Speed Freaks were cool as were Acid Heads or ‘Heads’ , these were specific terms in the day ones far removed from’ hippies’ most Freaks & Heads despised hippies.

Kleps was a brilliant, erratic, fascinating figure. Glad you unearthed this footage of the man speaking about entheogenic spirituality.

I remember Kleps giving a yearly lecture for the religion dept at UVM in the 70s/80s? He was living in Grand Isle Vt at the time I think. I still have a poster somewhere, Art Kleps on Acid. The good old days.
