This is a tv show...gee whiz. The idea of two look-alike cousins was ingenius. They needed to be different... otherwise why have the script? It was a great show, really cute and well done. It was a wonderful family program with issues and morals of that era. Patty Duke was phenomenal.
The blonde girl with the flip hairdo at the 16:45 mark is none other than the late Jacqueline Courtney, who played the beloved heroine Alice Matthews Frame on ANOTHER WORLD and Pat Ashley on ONE LIFE TO LIVE.
This is the episode where Patty's hairstyle inexplicably changes from that cool flip, to this rather odd double row of curls (as seen from the back) and remained like this for the rest of this season...any explanation? a change from her real hair to a wig? :/ (I read they had used wigs for her double characters because restyling so often began to damage her real hair)
In the fifties and sixties there was more decorum and children were expected not to use vulgar language. Also, for girls to use vulgar language was extremely a No-No. You have to remember this was a time where children respected their parents, families went to church, there was I respect for teachers and those in authority, people honestly cared about each other, the family unit was above all else, and children learned that disappointment was a part of life and not everybody can win or get a trophy. It was real and honest in a good time in history which I really wish we would get back to because the errors of the later 60s and 70s has obviously put us where we are today.
I love this show! I relate to it. As far as. IQs. Go... I. Would. Guess. Cathy's. IQ to be 145. Patty's. I.Q. to be. 105. Ross. IQ. As 112. My. IQ. Is 93

@@ellie.joy.cohencohen5097 That was season 3, episode 25: "Do you trust Your Daughter?" I remember when that aired. I was a little boy about 10 years old with a massive crush on Patty Duke. I got so upset, I cried though the final commercial. It was a relief when they had a comedic ending, which they would have. Otherwise, I wouldn't have been able to sleep. That's how seriously I took this show. I finally got out to the house on Remsen Street just a few months ago. Finally...after 58 years! May she and the other cast members continue to RIP!
The only thing wrong with the show is that Cathy is just not likeable and she’s a secondary character like Richard and Ross. PD liked playing Cathy better, but Patty is so much more attractive. They should have made Cathy more appealing and had them more equal. It just kind of doesn’t make sense to the premise of the show to have phenomenal Patty in the starring role and then to have mousy Cathy as a secondary character. I can appreciate the acting but at the same time Cathy is painful to watch. It might have been truly great without the fake Scottish accent, and if the roles were more equal. Patty has this cute boyfriend and it’s painful that Cathy just has to sit around and watch. If she was so European, she would have had friends and boyfriends in that era.
The look her mother gives in the beginning after Patty goes out the door, was hysterical! 😂
That was very sweet of Patty.
Love how Patty calls her dad. Papo.
Or "Cookoo!" in Season 3 episodes. 😝
thanks, I love this beautiful show

I thought patty loves volunteering. In a previous episode with pat pursuing the peace corps, Richard said Patty does a lot to help people
thanks for posting

Some people really excel at volunteering and finding other people to do all the work.
@rachelace6102. You are SO right!
Can do Patty accepts jobs and doesn't work! lol
5:50 why couldn’t patty say “no sweat”?

@@redneckbarbie Thanks for the explanation, because when I first saw this episode many years ago, I, too, wondered why Patty couldn't say "No sweat".
@@redneckbarbie And can you tell me whose fault was that, honestly?
How is the word sweat vulgar, there is nothing vulgar about it, so why was it vulgar back then??
@@redneckbarbie
Because she was selfish!
