    I've had the same experience recently... a 10 centimetres nail in the rear tire while my girlfriend and I were riding back home. Unfortunately, I could not repair the flat tyre on the road and had to call the assistance; thank god the dealer had a spare tube to replace the punctured one. A few hours later we were back on the road. Another issue was that the nail ripped the cables for the rear light and rear indicators, which also caused all lights to stop working (except front indicators). The cables were repaired the next day with a friend, and rearrange thus this issue would not happen again (I hope, because riding without a brake light is rather stressful...). Now everything is working fine!
    What have I learnt from this? Buy some replacement tubes, just in case
    Ride safe!😄

  • @geraldscott4302
    @geraldscott4302 Місяць тому +1

    Glad you were able to get it fixed. Very nice of that guy to stop and help. I have had three flats on my 2013 Bullet since I bought it new, in approximately 23,000 miles. All three times it came home on a tow truck. I am now 65, but have been disabled to the point where I would be unable to fix a flat tube type tire beside the road for over 15 years. I won't ride more than 75-80 miles from home on a bike with tube type tires. I have a roadside assistance plan that includes 100 miles of towing. I replaced the tires on my Bullet by myself the first time. I did it at home, where I had all the tools and a thick sofa cushion to put my knees on. It still took me almost a week to complete the job, and it was quite painful. Since then I've just been removing the wheels (quite a job in itself) and taking them to a shop to have the tires replaced. I don't even carry parts and tools to fix a flat on bikes with tube type tires. Hitchcocks has some cast wheels that supposedly can be used with tubeless tires that will fit the Bullet 500 through 2016 (drum rear brake) I've been seriously considering them. They kind of ruin the looks of the bike, but they would make it rideable for longer distances. I'm not riding right now. I'm in Arizona, U.S., and it is 115 degrees F (46 degrees C) Too hot for me.
    On my Bullet, the rear wheel is over an inch off the floor in my garage when it is on the centerstand. But I have a smaller, lighter aftermarket exhaust, and no racks or panniers on it. I carry everything in a 14L magnetic tank bag.

    • @BulletWanderer
      @BulletWanderer  Місяць тому

      Probably would be smart to get the cast wheels (for both of us!), had a look at them there, its a shame they do ruin the looks of the bike a bit. Even if they were just in a brighter tone it might blend in better with the Bullet 😅 For now, we can dream! That certainly does sound beyond riding weather to me, hottest I've ever ridden in was 40 Degrees C and that was really pushing me to the limit, plenty of water needed!

    Oh the adventures you get yourself into, mate! A flat on the back tire of Oddball is a no-go for roadside fix. Too much going on with that rear caliper bracket for the disc brake. So, it'll be my pump (powered off the bike's trickle charger plug) and slime goo. Limp it home and fix it there. Roadside flat fixes on these bikes can be rather dodgy to accomplish. Good on the lad who helped you out! Good to see you back!

    • @BulletWanderer
      @BulletWanderer  Місяць тому

      Slime goo! I should consider getting some of that 🤣🤣 Is it dependable to limp home with?? How much PSI can you get with it ? How big of a job is it? (Aware its a temp fix, but good to know so I could limp home next time!) Sorry for all the questions 😂

    • @briand4000
      @briand4000 Місяць тому

      @@BulletWanderer You just need your 12V pump (battery powered like the one you have) or one powered from the bike's battery, a bottle of slime with the hose it comes with and a valve stem core removal tool. Find the offending nail/screw and remove it. Remove valve stem core. Squirt in the goo. Replace core. Attach pump and pump it up. Ride home. Perform final repair (replace tube) whilst there and after pints. My Slime brand 12V pump (I keep one on Oddball and Fritz) will pump to about 42 psi.
