Partial reps save your joints and keeps constant tension on your muscles. Years of doing reps "all the way up and down" has wrecked my elbows and shoulders. Never train to failure, take it close but keep it a couple of reps short. I tore my labrum taking a set of bench presses to failure. Maybe training to failure is okay if you have good genetics for muscle building and recovery. I'm genetically average at best with horrible recovery ability due to a sleeping disorder. At 51, I've found that doing 15-20 slow reps and squeezing the muscle hard gives me better results. I've also found that 10 reps just really bothers my joints more. I tried a 5x5 routine and it instantly triggered my cubital tunnel syndrome, so I switched to 15-20 slow reps and haven't looked back.
For me, I try to make up for not having super heavy dumbbells by doing more reps per set (i.e., 15-20 reps). I can still get close to failure, even if I don't have the heaviest weights.
I just turned 52 and in decent shape for my age (weight lifting and mild cardio for a few years now)…And watch a number of exercising/weight lifting channels…I really do love and enjoy you guys…friendly…understanding of being a bit older…explain easily and at a slow pace…use gear and exercises that don’t break the bank…fantastic! Thank you!
Happy new year 🎊, I like to go slow on the way down 3-4 count, and explode up on the way up , with all exercises to develop my fast twitch muscles, while still using progressive overload those are extremely important for anyone over age 40 for reflex action
Thank you for the video! Im going to be using this workout for the duration of January, really looking forward to it. I started watching your channel this time last year, I wanted to make changes to my body shape as I really wasnt happy. Since then ive lost 40 pounds in body fat and I am now visibly more toned, and muscular, best of all I've lost the weight without being left with loose skin its all shrunk to shape. This year is going to be all about muscle gain so I will be following all of your advice on nutritional needs. Thanks again for the inspiration and support, watching your videos makes me feel like i have my own personal trainer. 👍👍👍👍
I'm 54yrs old. I have a pair of adjustable dumbbells (35 pds)and a bench.at my age , how many sets and reps i should be doing ( dumbbell squats, dumbbell bench press, etc)
Those split squats are not recommended if you've had any knee problems. Ive had major twisted knee problems in the past and will never do these. Now squats i love and just stick with weightless squats around 10 sets to failure. And it hurts to use the toilet 2 days later. The stronger you get the more you can do on the first set . And thats going all the way down with workboots on. And the tricep exercise he is showing is about useless. Use a curl bar and do skullcrushers and overhead tricep press. And cable pull downs or push downs, which ever term that you use.
I want to know what his testosterone levels are? These guys on this channel talk ad nuseam about test levels that it's not even funny. And I've posted comments a few times asking what their test levels are. So many of these older UA-cam fitness enthusiasts are so obsessed with testosterone - but they never want to reveal their own numbers. What the heck is going on here? Lol

Thank you so much for this. I’m almost 52 and have just started in the gym so this will be perfect for me to focus on.

You can use lighter weights if you do enough reps to get to failure. Your workout may be longer.
You have the best channel. Hands down!
Pleasant good morning blessed New Year 🎊 really appreciate you thank you

Happy New Years! What type of dumbbells are you using?
I must try this workshop. I have been doing the 15-minute full-body dumbell workout when time is short.
Just a quick question how many times a week do you recommend ??
Awesome workout, thanks for this 👍👍💪💪
Happy new Mr. President starting the new year right
I haven't seen the Swimmer Curl exercise anywhere else. It also seems to have a very good effect.🖖
Happy New Year 🥳!! How many sets on each exercise
61 and just got home from the gym, feel so good😀,just do it,
How many days a week do you do this routine?
Question!
With the tricep workout, can you do the same concept workout as you did with the biceps? Going to the chest then to the skull crusher.
love ur show!!!!

You have got to have a programme about calves and ham strings, leg biceps, etc. I would like a reply for once!
Don't hold your breath...

What was the angle of the bench for the chest exercises?
If you can, can you do the Mike Metxner dumbbells bench press, with 80lbs.
I really don't think you'll be able to.
I don't do Facebook...
Are you on Rumble or MeWe?
Happy new year!!! thanks for you time.
Hello 👋 can we perform these exercises in a TRICON method?
Maybe the last set?
Man im jealous of your knees. My knees pop every time I try those lunges.
Excellent i am 46
What brand of adjustable dumbbells do you use?
They are the Core Fitness Dumbbells.
Is that George W Bush with muscles???
I want to know what supplements your taking ❤

I’m more interested in all that booze on the counter…lol
😅
I might have to add some booze to my workouts and see what happens
“Live alcoholic”……i mean anabolic…lol
Do you suggest kettle bell for over 50 ?
Why????
I'm 68 and I use kettlebells. If you have a bad back, then kettlebell swings are probably not a good idea no matter what age you are.
@@johnf8609 You should put up a video of yourself doing kettlebell exercises.
How nice to see the Holy Cross on your chest. I hope it's not just a meaningless decoration.
nice pits!
Great videos but your definitely related to the President George W Bush😊
