    Oh my gosh!!! I seriously needed my sewing machine for a home DIY. I haven't touched it in years and could barely recall how to set it up let alone thread it!! Your video is the best 7 minutes I've ever spent on youtube!! Thank you so so much for this wonderfully clear and concise video! I didn't even know I had an auto threader!! =D Sooo happy!

    I have had a Kenmore for over 35 years. It has served me very well but is getting tired. I have always liked the Janome machines . So, I am looking to replace mine with one. Since all machines have a style all their own I needed to look into any differences. This was very helpful. Thanks so much.

    Thank you so much. Just purchased a new Janome machine after 30 years with my very old one. This tutorial helped a lot as "things have changed" in that time. While the lighting was a bit dim in parts, being able to stop the video and go over it on the machine is great. The marvels of technology. Thanks so much.

    Listen I did a very smart thing this Christmas and decided I was going to hand sew a teddy bear for my friend in another state since she always makes me beautiful gifts. This was extra smart because I’ve never sewn anything in my life, except a pencil case in high school for textiles - a class I failed. Getting down to the last day and I hadn’t finished sewing so I figured I’d borrow a family friend’s machine while she’s away (permission granted). All went well initially as the bobbin and thread were preloaded for me - but then I had to do it myself. Despite the manual I continued to have a nasty issue trying to pick up the bobbin thread.
    All this to say THANK YOU. So so much. I watched this slowly and realised where I’d gone wrong in the process and was able to finish sewing the bear. Assuming I can stitch the last pieces together and add a face before tomorrow night I just MIGHT manage to get it done for Christmas. You saved me, thank you!!

    I’ve watched several videos and still couldn’t get the needle threaded using the fancy threader until I watched you do it. Thank you for getting up close and for verbally providing some extra information! I had no idea there was a hook that went through the needle eye. I’m sure that seems like a no-brainer, but I couldn’t see it!! Thank you!

  • @pennybramwell5441
    @pennybramwell5441 2 роки тому

    I had no idea how the thread was passed through the eye of the needle but watching this video, I investigated the two hooks further and found a tiny little metal hook that went THROUGH the eye of the needle to catch the thread. it is easy after a lot of use, then a long period of not using it ,to forget little details like the rotation direction of the thread from the spool. Excellent and thank you. I seem to have a problem with my generic type spools, sold for Elna and Janome machines plus others. Maybe it is the winding drection, so I will check that out now. Very annoying as I use the same colours again, and find that the spool just will not thread up on one or other machine. Tried separating known spools that work, but soon forget! Generally very pleased with the Janome sewing machine but the overlocker went wrong far too quickly and have nowhere to take it locally for repair!

    I agree! I've seen the manuals for Bernina and they are much clearer to understand with photos to illustrate the instructions. Janome should invest a bit more time and money in developing their manuals so they're as good as the machines.

    Aloha, Diana! Greetings from North Baltimore, MD! Thank you very much for your tutorial. I agree on a former reviewer about having better lighting during the tutuorial; however, the information you presented step-by-step is greatly appreciated & valuable. I am a recent retiree as of 31 December 2018 & have always wanted to learn how to sew. My brother-in-law (an expert tailor) presented me w/ a Janome Memory Craft 2400 for the winter holidays last year, but went through showing me the setup so quickly (second nature for him in his extensive experience) that I didn't remember the fine details. Your video lesson clarified in much, much more detail the location of the numerous guides, how the bobbin is loaded, how the needle is threaded, in which way the bobbin thread winding should be going when inserting the bobbin into its compartment under the bed plate, and especially how to slowly connect the spool top thread and the bottom bobbin thread correctly to get ready to actually sew. I specifically want to learn how to sew in order to design & repair my parafoil kite & their various kinds of tails which are made out of rip-stop nylon. In high winds, the hems and seams on the kite tails particularly need reinforcing from time to time. At least now, I can handle basic stitching to support my favorite leisure pastime. Your tutorial has enabled me to avoid lugging my machine to/from my local fabric store for beginner lessons. Thank you for the helpful information! Robby of Maui

    Oh my goodness... THANK YOU for this video. I had no clue what I was doing, this video explained a lot. I'm still a bit uncertain about how the top thread goes into the guide with the #4 next to it. Also, the bobbin thread tension springs was confusing... however this machine magically fixed itself, so I hope it does it again when I need to use different thread. :)
