Fellsmere Is On The Rebound - 11/12/19

- I FINALLY made it down to Fellsmere. First time since the end of March. I was pleasantly surprised at the conditions. The water level is up and this made all the difference in getting around in the grass. I headed down West Canal as far as I could (quarter mile from the pump station), then headed east in a clear ditch, past center canal as far as I could pedal. The eastern indian mound is pretty much still surrounded in thick hydrilla. Most of those floating islands are GONE. Then I cut back north and east to Center Canal, then headed west back to the west canal. A lot of pedaling and paddling but I had a LOT of fun catching! Baits thrown today: Stanley Ribbit Buzzit, Fluke, Super Spook, Spinnerbait, Mag Ol Monster, jerkbait, Senko.... The effective baits: Rage Lobster, Gambler Big EZ, Culprit 10" Ribbon Tail Worm.
I apologize that this is such a long video, but I wanted to give you folks a good look at conditions.
Thanks for watching!!

Man what a beautiful trip! Love all the fish and all the birds too. There were some beautiful bass in that trip!
It's one of the best birding places in FL. I really love seeing the Pink Spoonbills and the Snail Kites.
Lord never a dull fishing trip... great video !!
LOL. Always excitement at Fellsmere!! I can't wait until next month. That's when the REAL excitement begins. Thanks for watching.
I know I’m so excited to see you kick some butt !! #TEAMOLA
@@countrygirlfishing hahaha I love it.
Love watching you fish. Thanks
And I love making them. Thanks so much for watching.
Miss that place. One of the easiest bodies of water to catch numbers of good fish. You're Awesome!
It's a whole lotta fun. Thanks for watching.
Holy Cow! Now that's a fishing trip! 25 fish, lots of paddling, lots of pedaling, walking in the mud pulling the kayak! A hell of a workout for an old gal!! Haha! You did good! You were pulling them out like hot cakes! Haha! Nice 4 pounder! Someday I hope to have a 25 fish day! So far my best was 10. Thanks for sharing with us!
Thanks Ann. On a good day down here I'll get 50 plus fish. But no complaints from me. I had a blast and I'm not even sore today.
Great to see you out at Fellsmere OLA! I was out there last weekend, but it was too windy. 👍
I got lucky and had a calm day up until 1:00 or so. Then it started blowing like crazy! Can't wait to go back.
Nice video OLA! Keep up the good work can’t wait for your next video
Thank you so much. Really appreciate your support.
I found this video on a link from the Fellsmere facebook page and I am glad I did. Great video, I just subscribed to your channel.
Very cool. Thank you so much for checking out my channel. I appreciate the support and look forward to your input.
Epic convergence with the full moon and approaching cold front. Great releases!
I agree. It turned out to be a superb day. Thanks for watching.
Another day of fishing! Great vid...🎣🎣🎣🎣🎣🎣🎣
Thanks Rod! A long but super fun day of catching!! I love this place!
Old Lady Angler great job...🎣🎣🎣👀👀👀
@@rodcrawford5547 Much thanks!
That was a great day of fishing. 👍
Thanks Jeffrey. I had a blast out there.
Thanks for the update OLA! I'm glad to hear that things are looking better down there. I'm ready to hit it in December!
You and me both, Thomas!! I've missed Fellsmere!
Awesome video as always
Thank you marshall!
Some nice orange and red sky. Plenty of bass action and good way to end the day with a four pounder.
Thanks wayn. The day was pretty much prefect.
Wow looks like a good day of fishing, that places looks good and grassy
Thanks Nelly. yeah... it's FULL of hydrilla and the fish just love it.
great vlog 👍👍👍
Thank you so much for watching
I so appreciate all of your videos, but the Fellsmere videos are how I found your channel, and they are always my favorites. The fishing there is insane, and you make it look so easy and effortless (which I know it's not!). Thanks for a long awaited Return to Fellsmere thrill! Hubby and I had initially planned to bring our Vibe kayaks down to fish Fellsmere the week of Thanksgiving, but we can only make it as far as Bainbridge GA with the time we have so we're hitting the Silver Lake WMA ponds/lakes instead. Maybe I'll finally catch one of the trophy bass from "Panic Pond." So bummed to miss out on the chance to fish the famous F'mere, though. 😥
Oh thank you so much for the kind words Rachael. I absolutely love to hear from the lady subscribers! It is a shame that you'll miss Fellsmere on this trip... BUT.... the absolute best time to fish it is DEC-JAN-FEB time frame. They'll be pre-spawn-post during those months and it's absolutely insane fishing! Plus the hydrilla thins out (it never goes away) and makes it a little easier to get around.
And you're right .... it may LOOK easy but in reality... it's a long, hard... but FUN day. That place is SO huge and the fish can spread out in 10,000 acres. It's definitely worth your time and effort to visit. Good luck at Silver Lake WMA. I've never heard of it but it sounds awesome.
not being in Florida, its fascinating seeing the fishing terrain.... last year I saw MLF on the same area, looks like a great place to fish. Great video!
It's a unique / gorgeous area. I think MLF was on Garcia.... which is south of Fellsmere but connected by ditches. Thank you for watching.
gambler swimbaits love em, i do have to thank you though. I fished lake toho in April and used the gambler swim bait and wore them out, lane toad was the color. i remember it from your videos. thanx
YES!!! Those Gambler Big EZ and REALLY Big EZ are fantastic!! I like that Lane Toad color but I seem to do best on New Shad color. Honestly.... I think the fish would hit any color most of the time. Thank you so much for watching and thank you for the comment. I love to hear when subscribers find my videos helpful! Tight lines!
Excellent, I have been using the Culpit 7" and 9" Fat Max, in RedShad, Black Blue Flack and JuneBug, excellent work (Bulkier) the Bass love them, Danny ;-)
The fish are loving those bigger baits right now. Thanks for watching.
I was there on Monday. Overall I agree with you, looking much better than it did in the summer. Lots of fish I didn't find any with any size though. I'll be back soon since it looks much better
Give it a month. The bigguns will be very active! Thanks for watching.
That place has a Ton of Grass! Great fishing OLa
OMG Fred.... you would not believe how much grass. It's dying off for winter right now. It's horribly thick in summer. All those channels are grassed over and it makes getting around super difficult. But those big fish LOVE they grass. Thanks for watching.
@@OldLadyAngler I have an old gravel pit near me I fish. It has a lot of hydrilla but dont think it's a near as thick as that place. I'm gonna have to try out those lobsters
@@FishingWithFred I don't usually use the Lobsters here in this waterbody but for some reason... they were eating them like crazy. They usually want a fluke here. It was a reversed kind of day!
Great day at Fellsmere Tracy! I love this place. Looks so beautiful and peaceful. I bet you could spend 2 weeks there straight and still not explore a fraction of the water. All those potholes here in there amongst the grass.
Thanks Fitz. Yeah.... it's a wonderland! That's part of the reason it's my favorite fishery. That and the fact that it's so big... it's never crowded (not yet anyway.... different story when the boat ramp opens) Thanks for watching.
@@OldLadyAngler yeah that stinks about the boat ramp. When is that opening? Next spring?
@@FitzYakin the last official thing I read was that it was going to break ground in August of this year. So much for that!
@@OldLadyAngler 🤞well hopefully it never breaks ground. Plenty of other water for those with boats to get on. Leave Fellsmere for the non motorized.
@@FitzYakin Gosh I wish!
DANG...! Jealous again (cold here). Haha! Great Video (and just LOVE those "Aqueous Kodak Moments"!).
Fish stop biting here (Arkansas), and I switch to a weightless/weedless "Bug or Craw" (especially if it's a full moon).
You can't go wrong with those weightless craw!! The Florida Bass destroy 'em! We're in a cold spell right now. Low in the upper 40's tonight! Stay warm friend. Thanks for watching.
@@OldLadyAngler Mid 20's when I woke up, but s'posed to get up to 50 today. (I reckon I'm a "Fair-Weather Fisherman", when it gets cold).
I hear ya. BRRRR. I don't do well in cold either. Kills my joints.
Thanks for another great video! We are in ice fishing mode here in Maine :( getting the tip ups ready for hard water
Yes.... I saw that Maine got a lot of snow! I can't wait to visit Augusta next fall!!
@@OldLadyAngler yes they did up North we got mostly sleet. Another possible Nor'easter next week. Way too early for this!
Oh my goodness. I'd much rather have snow than sleet. And yes.... way too early. Gonna be a long winter!
Hello Ola! Just wanted to say that I really enjoyed this video and all the other videos. Great job on catching those big fishes. I got a little nervous at the end with that alligator being kinda close but you got out of there though and that you’re safe. Keep making these videos and I was wondering if you will ever do a catch, clean and cook video? And also if you will ever do those giveaways? Have a blessed day Ola from the 61 year old lady from MN.
Hi Therese. Thanks so much for watching. The gator.... He wasn't as close as he looks. They are pretty skittish and I've never had one get aggressive. BUT... if they do.... I'm carrying a pistol for personal protection and wouldn't hesitate to use it. More than likely I would not do a catch-clean-cook. I practice catch and release plus I don't eat fish.... so it would be a waste. I do give aways from time to time. The last give away was a Shimano Curado K baitcaster reel. I plan to do something for my 5000 subscriber landmark. Not sure what but it'll be a good one! Stay tuned!
Thank you so much for answering my questions Ola. You had me lmao about the alligator. And I don’t blame you too carry a pistol.
Yep. Ya can never be too safe out there.
I fished that exact spot last year and it was very low. Once I saw the opening I was like I know that road of glory! I have a video of a friend & myself using shiners until the Launch Lizard started eating our bobbers. It’s a great area to fish, you ever go about 2 miles down parallel to where you launched?
DMG18T... yes I went 3 miles south... until the grass got too thick. Then I cut over and went east about 1.5 miles. I had a 10.25 mile day in the kayak. I've seen most of that reservoir (the part the we're allowed to fish in). I've never fished shiners. Only artificial. Yes it's a great fishery. It's been my favorite since the first time I fished it 2 years ago. Thanks so much for watching.
Great way to have fun and stay active 👍 I just subscribed and I’m looking forward to it your future videos! I also have a channel
Thanks for the support. I'll check out your channel.
How do you know your miles paddled? Again wonderful production ! Danny...
Thank you Danny. I use a Garmin gps watch that tracks my movement, time, distance, heart rate etc. It's good info to have for reference. There's a link in the video description.
👍. Nice catching Ola. Once the ramps installed we’ll be there. You hooked some good ones that day. Can I call you Old Lady Hooker😂. See ya soon.
Thanks John. Ummmmmm No sir you may not call me OLH! hahaha
How’s the boat ramp coming alone.
Watch the entire intro of my video and you will see exactly what's going on with it.
Gostei de mais do vídeo cheguei pra somar e espero que some comigo tbm abraço
Gracias!
What color was that gambler big ez?
The Big EZ was New Shad and the Really Big EZ was Ghost Shad.
great catch!
new friend here.hope you visit mine.thanks.
Thanks for stopping by! I'll check out your channel!
@@OldLadyAngler thanks sir!.I'm just new at this..hihi.
NO RAMP! NO RAMP! NO RAMP!
Nope. Not even a hint of starting it. Wonder what's going on with that?
