Oh my gosh that was fun!!! I have been struggling to learn watercolor painting, trying different tutorials. I really needed a tutorial I felt like I could succeed at because I'm getting discouraged. This really was easy (I am going to paint it again for I need to get the hang of that painterly look in the background. Mine has too many places showing where you can tell I stopped). But, still, it's really cute, it was fun, quick and I love it. Thank you, thank you for the boost to my confidence in watercolor painting.
Joanne!! I have been surfing watercolor tutorials for quite a while and now I have found you. The techniques you share are the perfect fit for me. I haven't painted this one, but I have painted the free-flowing gnome. This particular technique is exactly the sweet effect I want. I am so happy 😊

No that’s a kitchen roll (paper towels if you are in the US). We use it when we paint watercolors. You have to dab the extra moisture off your brush. And the “sloshing of water” is also necessary to clean your brush for the next color. This is called watercolor after all! You will find all watercolor artists do the same. Maybe you’re not familiar with the medium.
