I want to get a job as a graphic designer (I know that doesn't tell you much) and I am kind of a generalist, I haven't found my specialty/niche yet. I have never worked a real job as a graphic designer and I still don't know which area I want to focus on, my portfolio right now has many different areas from logos, branding, illustrations, image edits, ad campaigns. Any tips how I can find a job without experience and without having a niche?
Thank you . A lot . I was confused and lost because I didn't know how I can apply for a job without a portfolio . Now everything you just said make sense and I can start from that ! Thank you so much once again
Thank you do much, this will be useful for a job I'm applying to tomorrow that pays $400 monthly. Yes it's low, but I live in Lebanon so sadly salary wage is very very very low... most retail workers get paid just about $100 and I'm not even kidding sadly. But thank you for this amazing tutorial, wish me luck guys
Hi Mariah thanks so much for this video, i have a knowledge in coding, creating web designs and i love graphic designing and post them on different social media platform, but unfortunately i do not know where to start and on how to make a portfolio since i dont have an experience working with other company, what i can only show are i have 2 fb pages which content are inspiring graphics,i have also youtube and instagram. But your video enlightened me and push me to start to create portfolio.
A junior designer here! I kind of disagree with the second point, but that's my opinion. I think that the more jobs you try, the better knowledge of what is actually "your thing" is. If you try the other way around and build an anesthetic and then apply to jobs you kind of shrink your opportunities to grow. But that's my opinion. I see it like that because especially for me if feels kinda limiting to aply to only a few options of the bunch. Idk what is my aesthetic yet, and I wanna try everything. I'm hungry for diversity. But I guess that is up to the person. Other people might be very oriented early on but that's not my case.
Thank you for these awesome tips! I'm applying for a marketing graphic design position for bank and I have no idea what to add in my portfolio or if I need a physical copy to my interview
Hi Mariah Iam new to graphic designing and literally just started watching courses to understand it better. I enjoyed watching your video so much as it was very informative. Is there any way you can help me? Is there a way to get in touch with you? Iam interested in becoming a freelance graphic designer.
Hello that was inspiring, I was thinking of offering my services to some friends with a make-do) out of necessity) online business because of the Pandemic. Since they basically are startups and they don't have that much returns of investment yet, I was considering doing a logo design for free if only to get reps (basically we're helping each other in that aspect) but of course there is the notion of them becoming successful and getting nothing monetary, though conversely I can use that in my portfolio, what do you think about this? And this notion applies to relatives with a similar scenario but may take this as "Me doing them a favor". Other than that the challenges I see facing are people in that same scenario who would prefer to use an app to create a logo for them rather than paying a designer to do so. Any thoughts on that? I would love to hear what you think
For portfolios for university, do you need an about me page? or just the projects you have worked on? I have been creating my own portfolio but still unsure how to structure the content of the portfolio? Any advice would be great thank you
You have said it alright to make portfolios even not on our own but what about those question in interview, I don't even how can I seriously answer that with enjoyment.. can you please encourage me how to conquer this interview? Pls :D
This is golden thank u for the quiz too. I am going to create my sketch art and digital photoshop art on social media for rappers, family, cool fun stuff and hav3 a seperate page thats about the marketing angle for companys that need business card or website deisgns , broshures etc. My art has unprofessinal vulgar stuff in it so i must keep these seperate. ANY ADVICE so i can get clarity on makeing money off my talents.
My previous employer doesn't allow us to have a copy of the graphics I've made because it is according to them property of the company. So here i am passed the initial interview but cannot submit a proper portfolio.
