I had a severe back injury a year ago… I never thought it would be possible to gain my strength back… I feel renewed just watching this, like my hope has finally returned. This man has changed my perspective on my injury just by being an example. I plant to gain my strength back, no matter how hard it is.
I was fortunate enough to meet him when I was a kid he was performing at yarmouth hippodrome circus when Moscow state circus were on tour made a lasting impression on me.

Very pleased to have watched this video and this deserves to have so many more views.
Thanks. Just came across this and was wondering exactly the same thing. I have a friend going through crazy rehab from an injury and was looking for some inspiration…
@bherenow1182 where did you find the info? provide a link. I googled him as well , absolutely nothing about him past 1996, except the current company he works for
Great documentary. You can visit this kind of story any time you need inspiration in life, there are a lot of people out there with amazing experiences that are unheard of and its very nice to see this.

I wonder how medically legit he was. His story is wonderful and he has incredible will, but obviously not all paralysis is the same. Wonder if his patients walked again. Update: The man in the documentary was never able to walk using Dikul's treatment.
@@docukino I'm hoping I can find some accounts of those that did. From what I've read in the past vertebrae can heal ofc, but what he's done is build muscle in possibly severed nerves. Pretty incredible, and incredibly difficult when a vertebrae is completely severed rather than broken. Dikul definitely has trained his core and back a ton.

I searched Matthew stockford to see on how he’s doing and he still can’t walk. But this doc is still very inspiring

I've been looking for this documentary for years. I saw it first time round.
What a great story. There is still hope with all the injuries I have from my bodybuilding career.

Fascial strength, not muscle. This man is phenomenal
Hi, what do you mean by this? And how can fascial strength be developed?

Fantastic documentary, I truly believe in this 👍
This is a LEGEND!
Quick question, how is Mathew doing today?
He's not performing miracles but merely showing us, what is possible with our bodies.
thx 4 this documentary.
After 6 months of no feeling there's still nothing that can be done.
Un gran ejemplo y referente.
Great video despite few fact mistakes. Kaunas is in Lithuania, not in Latvia btw ;)

Great person!
Did Mathew actually ever learn to walk again? Couldn't find much info about him..
He was born in Lithuania. City Kaunas
@White Knights of the Round Table dont forget your pills. Kaunas then and now Lithuania
So from one comment it can be deduced this is at least 4 years old. I'd like some follow-up, that was very impressive!!
This film is actually 25 years old, released back in 1994. )

His Wili says Dikul’s mom died when he was in kindergarten and if there’s one thing about Wikipedia it’s that *it’s never wrong*
Wikipedia is wrong all the time.

Does anybody know how is Matthew doing after all these years?
Is there a follow-up on Jonathan?

Does anyone know how to get in contact with Mr. Dikul ? I am paralized and would like to see if he can help.
I did go to his website but it’s in Russian.
He stopped taking in patients personally a while ago. As for clinics that use his technique you can translate their websites through google.
