Nina, Maggie and Shax all play different roles and there's no actual explanation for that but nobody in the fandom considers this to be fishy or a clue of something bigger going on. I can't help but think there's something there. What do you think?

Does anyone else think that Maggie perhaps has a touch of dyslexia as well? I bring it up because she misspells "urgency" as "ugrency" in her written note to Aziraphale in season 2. My late best friend was dyslexic and often misspelled words though she was very intelligent.

Interestingly, Aziraphale's outfits are quite fashionable (if eccentric for most of the 20th century) up to the 1960s holy water exchange. Both he and Crowley wear bits and bobs from previous eras mixed up pretty much consistently (although it's less obvious in Crowley's wardrobe), but at some point in the last quarter of the 20th century, Aziraphale sort of... reverts back to earlier stuff. Makes me wonder why.
Hmmm… That’s a really interesting observation. He’s always dressed so fastidiously in the past (“I have standards, you know!”), that I wondered why he became so attached to the threadworn vest as it keeps getting more shabby. I wonder if there’s a bigger reason.

I have the Headcannon that the "J." that is just a "J." is in fact not "just a J.". As it is likely that Crowley does not remember some stuff from before Falling (like Furfur), perhaps he does not remember his own name from before Falling but the J. sounds a little too familiar even though he cannot understand very well why, and he decided to keep it around (but as he does not remember the whole thing aka. the whole name, it is "just a J." by now).
In Neil's s1 FAQ on Tumblr, he clarifies that the name Crowley was based on Aleister Crowley, but that the addition of 'Anthony' as his first name was based on the nursery rhyme, "partly to help people pronounce Crowley's name right."
Coleen Doran had to bump the publishing date of the graphic novel back a year due to health issues. It's currently set for spring 2025 (per April 16 update on the Kickstarter page).

In the Leonardo Da Vinci sketch of the mona lisa in Crowley’s flat, It’s addressed to “My friend Antonio” I believe. I think it’s fun to think that It’s almost always been Anthony, but he decided to keep it a secret because of the nursery rhyme. (and maybe his relatability to it)
That's right! It also turns out that Rhyme in other forms goes back to at least the 16th century, and probably further back in spoken or sung form, so he could have still heard it there, before meeting Da Vinci.
Isn't it Odd that Aziraphale hadn't heard it until 1941, when Crowley had been using it for 400+ years at least?
That Neil clip is SO frustrating, because after he said Aziraphale broke everybody's hearts, everybody groaned, and then he said. "I'm sorry! Perhaps he will ..." then was interrupted by an audience member and never finished the sentence! I'd like to think it was going to be something like, "Perhaps he will unbreak them in s3."

You know, I think with the poem, it could be that Neil and Terry got Crowley’s first name from it and then they decided that Crowley himself got his name from there as well. It’s the most adorable little bit of info that our favorite demon (who is a terrible demon) loves a poem about love. All I want in season 3 is for Aziraphale to give Crowley a hug and a fabulous kiss. ❤ Poor Crowley needs some love lol.

I learned that I’m autistic quite late in life too, and it’s both comforting and validating to know that both the actor and her character represent us so beautifully. No wonder I’m so drawn to on-screen “Maggie” and her sweet, quirky ways!✨

I have to rewatch series 1 but I'd swear i saw "for mio amigo antonio" written by Leonardo on the Davinci's drawing he's got on the wall so he used the name Antonio before the XIX century. I need to rewatch the series to make sure I haven't imagined this, though...
You are correct, he must have used the name! interestingly, A Frog He Would A Wooing Go was not written in the 1800's, it was just written down then. There are even written records of it dating back to the 1500's, so the rhyme itself, in spoken or sung form, goes back further than that. IT's so old, it's sort of controversial when it first came into existence. But it could still totally make sense that Crowley got it from hearing the rhyme.
Weird that Aziraphale had not heard it before, if Crowley was using it as far back as the late 1400's!

I think it could be both; they heard the poem and got the idea of the name, but also thought it’d be cute for Crowley to pick it for that reason.

There is another St. Antonius who has been much more popular in Bavaria/Austria than the Antonius who had to deal with demons.
People addressed this Antonius to find LOST items or a partner/true LOVE.
Also in other catholic areas this Antonius has got quite a romantic job. There is even such a thing as a pilgrimage to Padua only for singles who are trying to find a spouse.
So when Crowly introduced himself as „Anthony“, I (knowing Bavarian tradition) understood it like he has been trying to find something (somebody?) valuable he feared that was lost. It didn‘t occur to me at all to see it in any different way! 😊

wait wait wait…I thought Crowley’s name was based on Alistair Crowley…
Either way, I now am convinced that Crowley chose it because of the nursery rhyme. I listened to it several times, looked at the words, and it’s literally about a frog who meets a mouse & tries to impress her/“woo” her, but a cat comes along and it’s kittens attack the mouse and the rat (which the frog was traveling with), and then the frog gets eaten by a “lily white duck”.
Frogs are associated with grossness, unpleasantness and witchcraft (spells/potions often require a toad/frog or some body part of it) - Crowley thinks he’s perceived as gross/tainted/evil.
Mice are associated with meekness, not calling attention to themselves, being sneaky - Aziraphale is, on the surface, rather docile, a bit placid and non-confrontational.
Crowley is constantly trying to woo Aziraphale.
The cat/kittens could be seen as “societal expectations”/what Aziraphale and Crowley “should” be doing, which the mouse (Aziraphale) falls victim to (he LEFT) and just when Crowley (the frog) thinks he’s safe, a “LILY WHITE” duck” swallows him whole. The duck isn’t a brown duck or a grey duck, or even just a normal white duck; it’s LILY WHITE, the purest, whitest white, so I’m guessing God?
I think maybe this scenario playing out is what Crowley fears.
Or maybe I’m just over analyzing like I usually do.

Good to know about the kickstarter for the graphic novel being open again. I didn't back it the first time, and have been regretting it for sure.
Make sure you note the updated release schedule. The website still says 2024 in some places, but it is no more like summer of 2025. And also, yay!

Personally I think the authors had it in their mind that Crowley chose the name Anthony, it kind of fits with his personality.
I hope we get an 1850s flashback that explains Aziraphale's really rather bitter comment "oh of course you do" during the fight with Crowley in 1863. I can't imagine that meeting is the first time they met after Crowley got back out of hell and I wonder if there's more to that.
But I think we will definitely get something in the 1940s that explains the nightingales line, which you theorised brilliantly on but I think they will & should explain it.
I agree. Based on the wording in the diary, which was written only a short time after the events in 1827, how would he know it would be quite some time, unless he'd already seen him again? It sort of doesn't make sense, lol. I think he saw him again within the year.
