One of the best games I’ve ever played, i could also talk for hours about how good it truly is
- hilariously fun and ridiculous
- infinite side hustles
- infinite mini games
- infinite easter eggs
- entirely open world
- lots of creative freedom
- inventive / unique mechanics
- outstanding soundtrack
- car soccer 10+ years before RL
It’s not perfect but even the absurdity, bugs, issues and bad English translations seem to only add character and fun
Choro Q is the sequel to RT, second best in the series, both worth a play, you’ll be laughing and crying before you know it
I had a very similar game I think was called gadget racers. Basically the same game like this but different setting. Nice to see people liking this game series
@@zaink7037 I think it differs depending on the region and console, but for me I have gadget racers 2001, then road trip 2002 which is similar but 1000x more expansive and engaging, then choro q 2005 (PS2) is extremely bizarre and experimental with a soap opera story line but incredible and so fun in its own right
I had no idea there were other games like this! This is one of my favorite games. Never could beat the president though

There was also penny racers that was like road trip meets gran turismo. It was fantastic

If you do end up picking this game up again, keep in mind that you can recruit teamates by completing their requests or even just talking to them. In races, you then get a share of their rewards, and you can get roof sign money from them too!
This is a game I would have loved to have played as a child. It perfectly reflects the child mind when playing with cars, with all the different models, customization, racing, just driving around...
It's hard for an adult to have fun with it, though.

Pink Micra is one of the car of all time just like the pink Vitz
I first got this game from the clearance rack at Blockbuster and played it so much that I wore out the disk years later. I loved exploring the different world and trying to get all 100 stamps, plus the neat customization of your character and teammates. Felt so fulfilling to get the perfect parts at the end and fly off Cloud Hill into the sunset.
Clicked because of pink Micra. Wasn't disappointed 🙏

Whenever you car flies, I remember how we used to be so forgiving to the devs in those days,as everyone was just glad to be involved in making and playing this fascinating world of Video Games.
I distinctly remember playing a tank version of this called Seek and Destroy on PS2.
I have no idea where I got the game, but there was something oddly charming about slowly upgrading your tank by turning it into a jet with rockets all over it...

I once played this game at a children's hair salon, and for the longest time I couldn't figure out what game it was. Until I found Choro Q and went down an entirely different rabbit hole.

You should try the rest of the ChoroQ games if you can. The ones from the PSX also have some fun to be squeezed out of them. You also have ChoroQ but planes/boats/tanks there (although only the car ones received fan translation). Seek and Destroy of the PS2 is also part of these games.
Never thought that games made for advertising a car toy company/products would be this fun ... besides Hot Wheels.

I always loved the goofy and weird emails you'd get in your garage, god I love this game. I'm always torn emulating it because it really does upscale so nicely, but there's such a charm to playing it how I did on my actual Ps2 as a kid

Nah this game is so strange and weird and charming! I loved every hour I played it. You should play Gadget Racers on PS2. It's the same style game, except it's kind of like Mario Kart where some maps have big/flyable jumps and even under water bits. The physics are still fucked though lmao

Man, I love stuff like this. Someone needs to make a new game that takes inspiration from this. Have you ever heard of Racing Lagoon for the PS1? It was only released in Japan but there's a fan translation patch, but anyone who likes the Choro Q games should deffo check that one out! Has similar Car RPG style mechanics, except that's got a full on storyline with cutscenes and everything. Great game!
