Usually keeping stamina to catch waves as efficiently as before after being gassed.. all the sudden u don't want to step back and forth as much anymore 🤙😜
I’ve never done it. I’d like to learn once I get a bit better. I just have an all around hard board, 10’ x 32”. I know “too narrow” is a mistake based on your video but is there a good range that will work for most folks starting out with downwinding? I’m guessing that inflatable would be okay.
Been paddleboarding a couple of months, still trying to learn how to catch the swell. It's happened a few times purely by chance and wow, been great, but otherwise I struggle to stay on top of the wave or get into surf stance and sometimes my board just feels like it's glued to the water and no matter how much I paddle I feel like I'm hardly moving! So I'm guessing I'm doing something wrong there but I don't know what. Anyhow will keep at it. This vid has been useful, will remember the tips about paddling when you first feel the wave and then getting into surf stance with sideways feet. I think the little backwards hop you do will take some time to master though! Just getting one foot behind me when the wave hits without falling off is enough of a challenge at the moment.
What's your biggest challenge when downwind paddling?
