52 year old here. Most of the commenters here weren't even thought about when this rivalry occurred. I saw it in REAL TIME and I will tell you that Jordan and Isiah HATED EACH OTHER FOR REAL. Jordan rules was boot camp and IT WAS REAL. Chuck Daly wasn't kidding around. His strategy? Make Jordan Pay Everytime He Comes In The Paint: KICK HIS *SS! And the Pistons did--Lambier, Rodman, Dumars, and co.--THE BAD BOYS! And they were Bad. Compared to today, they were MEN fusing skill and a hard-nosed blue-collar take-no-prisoners work ethic that would have made players like Lebron and teams like Golden State look like p*ssies with a capital P. No hand-check rules, hell there weren't any rules. Go back and look at the films. Jordan was getting his skinny *ass body-slammed every time he got above the rim. Back then I was still trying to get over Dr. J's retirement and Jordan was the new kid on the block. I remember saying to my ex-wife seeing the beating the Pistons were putting on him: "Baby, if this dude can get past this beating and if they don't break him, he gonna be a bad dude!" That's how bad it was with the Pistons. Isiah was the Tom Brady of basketball. He was the spark plug of Detroit, without a doubt THE BEST POINT GUARD EVER. Forget the points, a la Iverson, a point guard's job is to set up his teammates and no point guard did this better than Isiah--NOBODY. But when all is said and done, the Pistons made Jordan and if you don't believe me, just ask anybody over 50 who saw this rivalry in REAL TIME AND NOT ON UA-cam! And when people talk about the best player ever--this is a moot and pointless discussion. Here's THE THING! Joe Montana was the GOAT but Tom Brady made you forget about him. If Lebron is the best then why are people still talking about Jordan? If Lebron eclipsed Mike, he should have made people forget and stop talking about Mike like Mike made people stop talking about Dr. J. who was considered THE MAN before Jordan made people forget about him. CASE CLOSED!
I mean Jordan don't even play he's talked about cause old ppl like you won't stop talking about him then you 52 lmfao yo goat should be kareem but cool story bro
@@quebaby9492 I didn't blame the players, just saying how the quality of basketball declined after Jordan retired to the point that they changed rules to make good and ordinary players look better. Jordan was next level and the proof is in the fact that he's still being discussed at all. Remember, when Jordan 1st came in the league, people were measuring him against Dr. J who, at that time, was considered the best player in the league; however, after 3 years in the league you stopped hearing those comparisons because Jordan's game was so superior to Dr. J's game. Lebron's been playing in the league almost 20 years now and people are still asking whether he's better than Jordan which means that Lebron's game hasn't stopped people from drawing those comparisons. Look at football. Before the Patriots began their historic dynasty, THE TEAM was the 49rs and THE QUARTERBACK was Joe Montana. When New England won their 4th Super Bowl you started hearing the comparisons between the team and its quarterbacks; however, after New England won SB #5 then #6 you stopped hearing the comparisons. Regardless how many points Lebron scores over his career, people who know the game know that he will never be on Jordan's level simply because he has not had to face teams like the Bad Boy Pistons, Showtime Lakers, the old Boston Celtics, the Shaq-led Orlando Magic, Houston, Utah, Indiana, etc. Those type of teams and players are extinct and have been supplanted by a much weaker product. The rules were changed to help these weaker players look and play better...and they don't!
I'm 38 so this is the era I started getting into Basketball, and obviously living in Michigan Pistons were my team. I don't think these youtube videos these creators make do a good job of really illustrating what the NBA was like back then. And that Thomas/Dumars backcourt is sooooo slept on when discussing the GOATs.
You know what's really interesting? How certain people of a prior generation, constantly hold those of a so-called newer generation to previous standards, in a sort of selfish, "all about my generation" attitude, never actually allowing the new breed to develop properly, and grow from trials and tribulations like they were once allowed, mostly. You never saw Dr.J all over the media, in interviews, magazines, etc, forever comparing his style of play to Jordans', and making pointless comparisons that had nothing to do with the actual game as a whole, or talking down on the newer players. Ever. Social media has really blown the lid off of the type of people we call our sports heroes, that never seem to get enough, even after seemingly having it all, something most people can never say. League rules were not changed to make lesser players seem greater after Jordan, as Allen Iverson, who you mentioned, clearly illustrates this, as probably the best example. Several rule changes were made against Iverson, who the league effectively diminished over time, by the way. If it were not for the mainstream media, the NBA would have been able to do just fine not mentioning Jordan, but even the casual sports fan can see how things are always geared toward generating profits, which Jordan did better than anyone. Yes, he was a phenomenal player, but let's not act like there were not others that were great as well, especially when talking about the TEAM game of basketball. Just do the research on when Jordan actually cleared the rights to the new documentary, which was around LeBron's last historic championship run. If you believe that a coincidence, then you will also believe that Jordan's statue really had nothing to do with what he achieved in the sport of basketball. A legend of Jordan's stature should not be carrying on like this, and should just allow his beyond epic career to speak for itself. By the way, let's not act like Jordan did not benefit from rule changes as well. He knew how to use his muscle on, and off the court. Much respect to ya.
Harp usually guarded the opposition’s premiere scorer on the second 3-peat team. MJ was still a top level defender, but he needed fuel in the tank for late fourth quarter offense
Reggie is telling the truth. Am 60 yrs. Of age I've seen these guys play... Also in real life. In every childhood basketball court you always had a neighborhood group of guys who came to the court to knock you off or take your throne. Jordan had to get hard to beat Isiah. Rock flair said it best. In order to be the man, you have to beat the man!
But the media wants to put the blame on Michael Jordan no matter what anyone else says they still will say MJ didn't want him on the team. The media is instigating this
KLUV I seen a game where team scored 140 other team had 135 and no OT. There’s no defense and theses numbers are inflated. Can’t really watch it know more without D
Jason Whitlock has had a discussion about this topic omitting guys like Isiah and Wilkins. Whitlock has a conspiracy theory that the Dream Team wanted white guys on the roster.
@@mike.cdn7212 You are 100 percent correct with that assessment! However, ' Niquie was my favorite player! He tore his Achilles tendon that year in 92'
I was a huge Bulls fan back in that era, and of all their opponents, Reggie was the one I wanted to see win a championship. I rooted hard for the Pacers when they finally made it to the finals, but they couldn't stop Shaq.
1:16 I laughed when Reggie didn't mention his own team being like that as if Dale and Antonio Davis were gentle with opponents who drove to the basket. LMAO.
Dan one of your great shows! Awesome interview w Reggie. I grew up watching the Bad Boys as a middle schooler, living 20 minutes from Auburn Hills, and it was by far the greatest era of basketball ever played!!!!
He is a mix of many things. Entertaining, knows his stuff and is good with words. A smart cat. I do wish that Brent Berrie would have gotten some more time on tv.
wayne williams I agree. But from I.T reaction to this, believe he really did make a lot of gay comments about Magic back then as well. And it may have been ok back then, but his stupid mistakes in his marriage doesn’t ok you running around behind his back like so many players were doing.
When you peel back the layers, the MJ-Zeke feud started out territorial. Zeke was a Chicagoan through and through but the city still viewed him as the enemy. Meanwhile MJ; an outsider, shows up out of nowhere and the city loves him. Zeke was jealous. Probably felt like he should've been the one receiving that admiration considering the fact that he's actually from Chicago.
Reggie was one of my favorite players, back in the day, and all time, he was always hustling, with or without the ball, offense or defense. Coach Bird, Reggie and Co. took Jordan's Bulls to 7 !
Magic was overall better than Bird and in many areas better than Jordan (passing, basketball IQ, court vision, leadership, and could play 5 positions). Jordan was a superior athlete, scorer and defender. Bird was the best shooter by far. No one is superior at everything.
Arioca how was Jordan not a better leader than magic? I don’t get it, and mj didn’t play the point guard position but he could still pass with the best of them but not on Magic’s level but passing and court vision is all that magic did better than mj, basketball IQ is more than passing, it’s being able to get to your spots, fundamentals, footwork, knowing where your teamates will be at and passing to wide open teamates during clutch situations when you’re being double/ triple teamed, (Steve Kerr, John paxon) footwork etc magic had the same basketball IQ that magic and bird had, bird could’ve averaged a little under 9 assists if he played in this fast paced era and if he played point guard full time and if westbrick could average a triple double, mj could’ve averaged the same think naturally and so would magic and probably bird
Tomestis Vivian , Jordan felt in a way toward Asiah. And that is the reason why he was told, indirectly, that Asiah wouldn’t be part of the dream team. They didn’t want to lose Jordan. They knew Jordan wouldn’t want to play with him.
I don’t think that’s really much of an issue. You see so many of the current generation who never saw MJ play who argued so hard for LeBron being the greatest. MJ finally signed off on the doc and so many of that generation after finally seeing all that MJ did for the first time to have a comparison it was fascinating to see how huge in MJs favor a ton of polls conducted around the time of the documentary where MJ won every single poll over LeBron. I can see why a lot of people would perceive MJ caring about which is the GOAT as petty but at the same time I also can get why he’d put it out and remind people of just who he was if the debate is going to continue on endlessly while people only see LeBron playing and don’t have a comparison in front of them. MJ has always been the ultimate competitor so why would this be any different? The debate is silly anyways - i just choose to appreciate both. It’s all subjective anyways.
Okay first of all, based on the Dream Team documentary, Michael Jordan did not even want to be a part of the Dream Team, it was only after they brought that group of NBA players together that they want back to him and then only he agreed. And based on Magic's book in 2009, Magic Johnson, Larry Bird, Karl Malone did not want Isiah Thomas to be on the team but nobody asks them anything but asks Jordan everything. And the most interesting thing Chuck Daly had zero loyalty towards Isiah. Not only did he continue being the coach but he did not even vouch for his own player.
It seems obvious at this point MJ wasn’t solely responsible. Isaiah accuses Magic of possibly being homosexual after his HIV admission. Said that Larry Bird was really not that good, questioned Scottie’s toughness for sitting out game 7 of the ECF with a blinding migraine. At this point seems it seems half the dream team didn’t want him on the team.
We're talking semantics here. Rod Thorn made it clear when MJ was mulling joining the Dream Team that Isiah wouldn't be on the team. That's because he knew MJ didn't want him on the team. MJ didn't explicit say "Isiah or me." It wasn't needed. Just the same, if MJ wanted him on the team he would've been on it, regardless of what the rest of the team felt.
@@davidroberts1040 but he didn't say it. It was a freakin rumor started by an agent...all of those reasons are dumb and worse has been said about players.
Isaiah was a great champion but an extremely reluctant sportsman. It really just came down to the fact that he didn't like that his time came to an end and his pride wouldn't allow him to concede the proper amount of respect, cordiality and sportsmanship that Jordan and the Bulls deserved. It cost him a spot on that Dream Team and what would have been an absolutely incredible experience and he knows that now.
Joel Driver Well said. His lack of sportsmanship couldn't be tolerated on the international stage of the Olympics. The NBA brand was going global and I think David Stern thought Isiah Thomas as the face of the Pistons and their actions would have damaged the NBA Brand.
IT started the rumors about catching HIV from Magic, he made those controversial comments that Bird would just be another good guy if he was black, he told everyone to freeze out Jordan in the 84 all star game. He was just nothing but drama. Not shaking hands is just 1 of many things he did that a lot of past players didn't care for.
MJ was not the only one on that dream team who didn't want Isaiah Thomas on the team. Remember magic and Isaiah was best friends before Isaiah went and twofaced behind his back about went magic contracted HIV. It was mainly magic didn't want Isaiah on the team. Remember magic and Isaiah just started back talking about a year now.
Jared Thomas I would advise you to do your own research sir and stop listening to Radio Personalities. Magic Johnson and others didn’t want Isaiah Thomas on the team as well b/c of chemistry and personality clashes. Isaiah was not trusted/liked around the league at the time.
By Jordan making it clear that Isiah Thomas shouldnt be on the dream team, is proof that even Jordan believed Isiah Thomas should have been on the dream team.

Let the chips fall where they may. There ain't nothing like hearing it from the individual themselves... the game was physical, spiritual, mental.. "HISTORY" has the last word, this is how legends are made.
The biggest mystery was Dominique Wilkins his avg. In points per game he was always in contention in the top 5 NBA scorers back in the 1980's & early 90's; he was really actually one of the best ligit players back then but he didn't have that side guy Bird had McHale, Magic had Jabaar, MJ had Pippen & so on & what happened with Isaiah Thomas was tragic although he did earn some of his own bad doings he still was amungst the best players & his ability to the switchover cross dribble & drive inside was underrated he always got inside of the paint that is why both he & Reggie Legandary Miller was so good against Michael Jordan they were great at what they did; Reggie was more of a 3 point shootist specialist who could guard MJ & Isaiah was more of a quick speedster with a crossover switchover very difficult to defend him those two players Dominique Wilins & Isaiah Thomas were way underrated players although at least Thomas got a couple of rings
like isiah said in a segment of open court, its okey for him if jordan bird or magic said they dont want him on the dream team but if anybody below them said that they dont want him on the team he will not accept that.
true, they did, but what happened when they faced the spurs? you can say what you want, but when jordan left in 98, san Antonio and LA went to 13 of championships over the next 20 season so what can any other team say after that beside Lebron or Golden State in recent years, I'll wait.......
In the "Dream Team" 30/30 IT'S ACTUALLY SAID THAT THE EXACT WAY THE SITUATION/CONVO WAS "MJ telling Stern he's not joining if Isaiah is on the team" but at the time, nobody knew what the DreamT was going to become including MJ. So it was one part MJ saying "EXACTLY THAT". It's recorded in the 30/30, so I don't know why these pro commentators don't seem to know, but it's another part the evolving situation/tragic circumstance BC NOBODY KNEW IT WAS GOING TO BE SO BIG and then ofc FINALLY IT WAS REALLY MAGIC. And he admitted it, in his political way in THEIR 30/30.
In any sport it's the great defense played that makes it a more emotional experience for the fan. To me, this is why the game was so much better back then.
Reggie, you mentioned the late great Jack Haley. He was a life long inspiration of mine. I was a young man living and working in Seal Beach when Jack was at Community College. I played pick up with Jack at the Marina Park in Seal many, many times over the next three Summers. When I first saw him his range was 6 inches and his defense was, to be kind, poor. By the end of his run at UCLA his improvement was remarkable. I still thought no guy I have scored on will play in the NBA. He worked his butt off and got 8-9 years in the league and a ring. He showed me what hard work and want to can do for a person. I forgot you played with Jack. Great guy. Full of life and always smiling. Thanks for bringing his name up here. RIP Jack. Hated you Reggie. I was a Knicks fan.
Michael doing this doc has nothing to do with lebron. The director literally said that MJ didnt want to do this docs until they met few times and the director convince him to agree. On the GMA interview mj still doesnt want to do it because hes afraid what people might think about him once we see the documentary. Stop assuming something that u didnt know for fact. MJ doesnt care about the goat argument and he never once said that hes the greatest. He always give props to others before him like dr. J, kareem oscar wilt russel etc
Some Drunk he cares. He cares about being the goat and he cares about still being on the mountain. That being said this document has nothing to do with Lebron, like you said. This whole documentary has been about hyping his entire team. I really haven’t seen him hype himself up other than the 63 game and the ncaa championship.
nv3 E thinking and saying it publicly is a different thing. MJ and Kobe think their the best but the never say it out loud. Even kobe when he was asked who he think is better out of them 3 he said him but he never said hes the goat. He often said that magic was the greatest laker when magic said it was kobe. But one person think that hes the goat just because he won 1 title over an injured team and then lost twice and got swept by the same team 🤣🤣
Joe Dumars gets lost in all of this Pistons talk. Joe was a class act and wasn’t a “bad boy.” He’s not even mentioned within the doc and he’s the guy who guarded Jordan every game and did a great job or as good as possible. Jordan didn’t list Durant as one of the players who could’ve played in the late 80’s and 90’s. He said Kobe, Duncan, Lebron, and Dirk were the only players who could have played.
Exactly. They should own it. Isiah Thomas first says that he shouldn't have done what he did in 1991 and then tries to make 100 excuses about it. This is the alienation that caused the disintegration in relationship with Magic Johnson
And Mj ? When in 91 said publicly the Pistons didn't deserve their championships.litterly had it in the news trashing Isaiah Thomas.after game 3 Mj is Not innocent
@@dwaynecampbell3636 Nah homie, you got your players mixed up. Klay ain't soft by no means, I don't know where you get that delusion from. Obviously you ain't been watching him play enough dog.
Being honest reggie was right about Isiah he was the hidden leader of bad boys he was arrogant, I liked Rodman but my favorite was Horace grant someone who did his job without fanfare
Isiah didn't congratulate Jordan because Jordan publicly talked bad about the city of Detroit (The blue collar people and organization). Isiah COULD NOT shake his hand as he represented that city. It would be like someone talking about your home and your family. Jordan is mad because the Pistons took away his self centered expectation on the court. Jordan wanted to single handedly beat teams as he did before. His teammates should thank the Pistons. They got more play and value because of what the Pistons brought to the NBA that era. Boston taught the Pistons, the Pistons taught the Bulls.
I love that we have a professional sports journalist and hall of fame baller, discussing time-warp player swap hypotheticals about who would beat who in what era. These discussions are more interesting now, because there is so much footage of MJ playing. We could never go back years ago. There wasn’t an app that could take me to 3 hours of highlights on any player that has ever played. You can literally watch complete random mid-season games from 88’ now. It’s awesome, and prevents some of the recency bias so prevalent in sports.
79bnice Isaiah and his boys had a say, tap!tap! That met when someone go through the lane they get fouled multiple times even after ref weasels. We saw examples of that in the last dance when Laimbeer fouls pippen and Rodman push him. Other teams played to the weasel, play stop once ref made call
Pistons came before the Heat n Knicks in that regard. But to be fair there were teams in the 70s n late 60s that had the same philosophy. Pistons are spoken about most because they faced Jordan.
Romamb no they are spoken about more because of bird, magic, and Jordan. All were face of league. They brings in the money 💰. Pistons was the most successful team of any team that played that brand of basketball. No other team in 60 n 70 were that successful
@@Romamb jorden at guard was taller then all guards and when he jumped it was over they had try stop him some how but they would hold mj till he hit ground they could of hurt him but didnt just roughed em up a lil an mj diva ass was made bird gt it worse
I'm a Piston fan and I agree, Laimbeer is handling it the right way.. Stick to your guns Isiah. My only nitpick is that Patrick speaks of the "freeze out" like it's fact, when it's not clear that it ever happened (Jordan scored only 7 points, but that's because he shot 2-9 from the floor).
MJ has denied this repeatedly though. It wasn't him. He was the last person to sign up for the dream team and they told him Isiah wasn't on the team. Maybe Isiah should have asked the coach or Magic i mean they are friends again.
John Stockton was the assist leader for 5 years straight and led the league is steals 2 times. Shot 40% from 3 that year and was a better free throw shooter at 82%. John was a much better fit for that team. Clydes length made him a better fit for that team. the College kid is the only true snub
Being intentionally snubbed not only meant a personal insult to Isiah but to the city of Detroit full of working-class people and a two-time champ team too. Jordan is the best basketball player but a horrible person nonetheless.
Isiah Thomas was out of the dream team because of his VIOLENCE and MJ beat his opponents so bad that some of them are STILL SALTY to this day and for ever
isaiah was also not above spreading bullshit about people, he and magic were tight as far as friends could be, until magic's HIV diagnosis. it was worked out how magic would still play in the nba, with certain precautions and limited contact. there was a plan to keep him playing. zeke was one of the ones that not only started questioning the nba leadership, their choices, how they were putting the players in peril, etc. a lot of this hysteria was from preconceived notions about how HIV/AIDS was contracted. which leads to the greater bitch offense by zeke: he then floated around "ideas" that maybe magic was really gay, that he didn't appreciate being lied to or to the league. maybe he shouldn't play in the nba anymore. in spite of what they had already discussed, zeke had his own ideas about magic. so, there was more concern over magic being gay with the gay disease, than there was about how the plan to keep him playing in the league at no detriment to other players, was actually working. his outcry on the down low, because he didn't want the questions to be associated with himself (he thought no one would find out he started the bullshit rumors), led to magic going into early retirement. imagine finding this out about your friend, that they're spreading lies about your sexual preference, they're unapologetically homophobic and keeping you from working because they're afraid to be around you - ALL done behind your back and from other people. isaiah's exclusion off the dream team has the wrath of magic johnson written all over it.
The difference between then and now. Me and my brother-in-laws grew up playing together pick up basketball. The passion we had for the game was off the charts. Now we're old cats who just play checkers but right now my brother is beating my ass and I feel like I just want to smash everything in the house and my eyes water up because I'm so frustrated and that's the passion the 80's players played with, unlike now where players will just watch their guy score at will then get all butt hurt when the coach screams at them and force a trade. Never seen nothing like this in my life but Jordan, Bird, Magic and Isiah and other who we forgot about like Bernard King was straight killers........ GRIM.
People act like athletes today wouldn't adjust. The only reason they are "soft" now it's because the rules makes them so. If today's stars would've grown up in that era they would've been great also. The only thing this era has done is make NBA players out of people that wouldn't otherwise make a team because of the 3pt shot.
Isiah is acting like that one girl who wasn’t asked to the prom 30 years ago and is still bitter over it. Everybody is over it and he wants people to feel sorry for him. Maybe he should’ve asked Chuck Daly, who was his coach with Detroit and the Dream Team coach, on why he didn’t make the team or even asked to play. Thomas pissed off enough players during his career who was on the Dream Team. Maybe that was the reason. A lot of other great players didn’t make the team (Worthy, Wilkins, Miller) and you don’t hear them say anything about it. Tired of this topic.
Look back at McHale taking Rambis out of mid air, he landed flat on his back. Physical play was in style during that era. Pistons added the mental aspect, you were more worried about if you would get hit instead of focusing on hit your shots. The Pistons played to their strengths, physical and mental. The Knicks, Hornets and Heat all adopted that style.
Yo why are PPLE still blaming the pistons for their physical play? Hey almost everyone played physical back then. The Knicks and heat's, even the celtics played damm rough. Just stating facts.....!
The girl off of ESPN said she seen Jordan at a party and asked why you keep Isiah of the dream team, his response was nobody wanted him on the dream team
Michael Jordan enjoyed having the every touch being called a foul. He'll even tell you that he'd get a call for things other players would not get calls.
Reggie is a prime example of how much the time you play can affect things. He doesn’t get a ring because he has to play those dynasty Bulls. Once those Bulls are finally gone they run into the next dynasty Lakers. In a different era he probably does get a ring but when you bounce from dynasty to dynasty you miss out.
No player was ever injured or taken out of the game because of the Pistons physical play..... people need to quit whining. Jordan hates Isiah because his Pistons made Jordans 6 rings attainable as opposed to having 8 if the Pistons weren't in their way.
Cowardly Lions that’s not the reason why he don’t like me , it’s because isiah treated micheal like crap at his first all star game he made all the all star freeze micheal out its all over google
Could it be because MJ tried to gouge out his eyeballs? Is he supposed to be grateful to MJ for the way he was treated but MJ holds a grudge for 30 years?

By the way, let's not act like Jordan did not benefit from rule changes as well. He knew how to use his muscle on, and off the court. Much respect to ya.
Man I really appreciate Reggie Miller comments as a Detroit native and bad boy era I really appreciated Reggie Miller game
Reggie forgot Ron Harper, 4 guys who were lock down perimeter defenders!
Everyone forgets about Harper.
Had Ron been on MJ instead of Craig, the Bulls most likely don't advance.
Harp usually guarded the opposition’s premiere scorer on the second 3-peat team. MJ was still a top level defender, but he needed fuel in the tank for late fourth quarter offense
MJ was also responsible for Reggie never winning a ring.
True indeed
@L Nixon 😂
@Dan Customer yw😂
@@Scrapper1 💯
Not really. Reggie wasn't good enough to lead a team to a chamnpionship. He didn't win a ring or even get close when MJ was out of the league.
Reggie is lying.
Magic admitted that he was the main voice behind keeping him from being on that team because of their personal issues
But the media wants to put the blame on Michael Jordan no matter what anyone else says they still will say MJ didn't want him on the team. The media is instigating this

This era really doesn't appreciate defense...
KLUV I seen a game where team scored 140 other team had 135 and no OT. There’s no defense and theses numbers are inflated. Can’t really watch it know more without D
Its not that they dont. The rules are different. You have to stay on the floor
@@aaronaiysen7534 Today's free player movement style is hard to watch
Abdul Jabbar They should bring hand checking back. There was a game this season where no overtime and the score was 145-140 .
The pace of the league is alot faster than the 90s, every era has proven this case. The faster the pace of the league the higher the scoring.
Notable absences from the Dream Team...Isiah Thomas, Dominique Wilkins.
Damn, I've never thought about Dominique not being on that team. That's ridiculous!
He tore his Achilles tendon that year in 92'
Wilford Hairston Shaq
I agree 100 percent.. Nique and Isiah should've been on instead of Laettner and Mullen.
LMAO.
Exactly
@Christian Picardo wreaking? Is that a cross between reacking and wrecking??
The Davis "brothers", they were tough !!!
Reggie got it right
Magic, Pippen, Malone, Bird and a few others didnt want isiah on the team. It wasnt just Jordan
How do you know?
I think I’ll take Reggie’s word over your source, being that he was there for the rivalries and that Dream Team... ijs
Jordan's opinion is the only one that mattered. Isiah should have been on the team. He was a great, great player. MJ was Superman.
Not true. The Malone beef came after Stockton was selected
MJ said Rodman is the smartest basketball player he’s ever played with 🏀.
that speaks volumes about MJ's brain size
He was a smart player he knew he didn't have the skills so he used his brains to play his way through a amazing career on the court
Remember it was Rodman and the Piston that used to shut Mike down
One of smartest
Mike Hill never shut MJ down just beat his trash team but MJ always cooked they asses lol
Dan one of your great shows! Awesome interview w Reggie. I grew up watching the Bad Boys as a middle schooler, living 20 minutes from Auburn Hills, and it was by far the greatest era of basketball ever played!!!!
Reggie’s the man. Honest and entertaining
He gives great interviews unlike Boring BJ Armstrong.
I totally agree.
He is a mix of many things. Entertaining, knows his stuff and is good with words. A smart cat. I do wish that Brent Berrie would have gotten some more time on tv.
Reggie wasn’t honest. He is dead wrong about MJ leaving Isiah off the team. It was more Magic than anyone.
wayne williams I agree. But from I.T reaction to this, believe he really did make a lot of gay comments about Magic back then as well. And it may have been ok back then, but his stupid mistakes in his marriage doesn’t ok you running around behind his back like so many players were doing.
All MJ would have to say to David Stern at the time was "if he's in, I'm out"...
Peter E Actually, that’s what he did
I agree with mj
@King Stan that wrong it was mj he admitted it so y everyone making excises mj dnt hide tht he stop zeke from joining dream team
@King Stan y dnt no wat u talking about everyone said it was mj even mj
Wasn’t MJ. It was Magic that didn’t want Isiah!! Magic admitted that in his book
Chicago loved Isaiah until the bulls vs pistons became a rivalry, before that people still loved Isaiah even in Jordan's early years with the bulls
I know Thomas was jealous- now i know WHY!
Zeke may have been even more popular than the GOAT for a short time.
Jealous...... Lol .......your a comedian ......... Isaiah is a legend in Chicago they where just competing.....
I definitely would take Isiah over D wade
Where is Cheryl Miller???? I miss her commentary
She's such a beast on the court. Fun fact, I hear her little brother is pretty good too
Reggie was one of my favorite players, back in the day, and all time, he was always hustling, with or without the ball, offense or defense. Coach Bird, Reggie and Co. took Jordan's Bulls to 7 !
I don't know why people say kobe copy mj... welll...uhhh fkin curry/klay been copying Reggie Miller the original
C. mao Best thrash talker and 3 point player!
Pacers were the better team that year. Refs made damn sure da Bulls won
Love listening at how Miller, perhaps one of the best shooters ( assassins) in the game reminisce with such an awe of MJ . It was a real treat. Thanks
With MJ being superior and Magic and Bird being equals, Isiah Thomas was just plain better than everyone else on the Dream Team.
Julius Jones that’s why you don’t be a snake and a sore loser
Without question. Stockton was a nobody back then. He had no accomplishments, no heroic moments.
Michael Jordan told Rod Thorn "I'll play only if Isiah isn't on the team". Go read The Dream Team 25th anniversary book folks! Its in there!
Tomestis Vivian , Jordan felt in a way toward Asiah. And that is the reason why he was told, indirectly, that Asiah wouldn’t be part of the dream team. They didn’t want to lose Jordan. They knew Jordan wouldn’t want to play with him.

I agree, MJ will not let anything go. He definitely wants the world to know, that he is the GOAT.
Tashrif Alam thank you!
@TheRealist 811 so no need to coach. I thought the Pistons was a family who backed each other up. But I guess that's not true
Right MJ barely wanted to do it bc he felt worn out.

There is absolutely no prove of Isiah freezing out MJ of an All Star game.
Jukeboxster more than half didn't want him
Truth . Like Reggie said Isaiah was better than Stockton, Drexler , Laettner etc. Bad sportsmanship.

That's true...we've heard from a lot of the Pistons (Isiah, Laimbeer, Salley, Rodman & Dumars)
Talk to Rick Mahorn!
at that point Stockton was better than Isiah anyway. so who cares
Reggie Miller thanks for the great stories
Bird did the same
Yeah Bird not shaking Zeke's hand was apparently different huh?
Joel Driver well said
IT started the rumors about catching HIV from Magic, he made those controversial comments that Bird would just be another good guy if he was black, he told everyone to freeze out Jordan in the 84 all star game. He was just nothing but drama. Not shaking hands is just 1 of many things he did that a lot of past players didn't care for.
THANK YOU !! i AGREE ! FINALLY someone who is UNAFRAID to tell the TRUTH about m.j.
Have to agree with Reggie about the brands of play. Isiah should have been on the dream team.
I agree... let's not forget Doc Rivers.
THANK YOU Reggie for tellin the truth finally !
like isiah said in a segment of open court, its okey for him if jordan bird or magic said they dont want him on the dream team but if anybody below them said that they dont want him on the team he will not accept that.

RIP Jack.
Thanks Dan Patrick! Your perspective is great! The way you summarized Isiah, the Pistons, Jordan , Pip, Rodman and the Bulls!

Players in this era take a few games off and call it load management

So if many other teams was physical, why all the focus on Detroit Piston?
79bnice Teams like the Knicks and Heat was physical but not dirty. They wasn’t trying to injure.

Laettner was there because the spot was reserved for one collegiate player, which was pre-agreed upon. Chuck Daly himself selected Laettner for that.

Being intentionally snubbed not only meant a personal insult to Isiah but to the city of Detroit full of working-class people and a two-time champ team too. Jordan is the best basketball player but a horrible person nonetheless.
Rodman knowing how to track the Ball and how it comes off the rim is a trait that all great rebounders have!!!!🏀👀🚬

isaiah was also not above spreading bullshit about people, he and magic were tight as far as friends could be, until magic's HIV diagnosis. it was worked out how magic would still play in the nba, with certain precautions and limited contact. there was a plan to keep him playing. zeke was one of the ones that not only started questioning the nba leadership, their choices, how they were putting the players in peril, etc. a lot of this hysteria was from preconceived notions about how HIV/AIDS was contracted. which leads to the greater bitch offense by zeke: he then floated around "ideas" that maybe magic was really gay, that he didn't appreciate being lied to or to the league. maybe he shouldn't play in the nba anymore. in spite of what they had already discussed, zeke had his own ideas about magic. so, there was more concern over magic being gay with the gay disease, than there was about how the plan to keep him playing in the league at no detriment to other players, was actually working. his outcry on the down low, because he didn't want the questions to be associated with himself (he thought no one would find out he started the bullshit rumors), led to magic going into early retirement. imagine finding this out about your friend, that they're spreading lies about your sexual preference, they're unapologetically homophobic and keeping you from working because they're afraid to be around you - ALL done behind your back and from other people. isaiah's exclusion off the dream team has the wrath of magic johnson written all over it.
GRIM.
Benard king was a monster.
Bernard King for a few years... unstoppable. Just incredible what King was doing for the Knicks. And tough as hell!
People act like athletes today wouldn't adjust. The only reason they are "soft" now it's because the rules makes them so. If today's stars would've grown up in that era they would've been great also. The only thing this era has done is make NBA players out of people that wouldn't otherwise make a team because of the 3pt shot.
been telling so many ppl for that for years. not just in basketball either. The leagues changed the rules. You cant blame the players for that.
MJ was being petty. I do agree frak the apology!
I like how Reggie brought awareness that there could be punk ballers in the NBA I'm not calling any names.
This kind of funny considered mike is on tape saying he didn’t want him and then goes on to lie about it
Thats funny considering Jordan didnt keep him off the team so no lie you i/diot
The Bad Boys were physically hurting putting players lives and livelihood in danger, and they did not care.
The Bad Boys did the damn thang!!!!!
Man thomas got 45 stiches what yu talking abt
That was the norm for the whole league.
It's the public killing the Pistons legacy.
Jordan was the last one to accept playing for Dream Team. How can he be responsible for Isiah not making the team?
Because he basically told them if Isaih is on the team, he's not playing.
The girl off of ESPN said she seen Jordan at a party and asked why you keep Isiah of the dream team, his response was nobody wanted him on the dream team
Bird or magic and it was jamhile hill
Michael Jordan enjoyed having the every touch being called a foul. He'll even tell you that he'd get a call for things other players would not get calls.
Right you are on that. The NBA always wants their biggest star to win the RING! The 10 part series on MJ will leave that out.
Of course gs could play in the 90’s. Klay is the Reggie of today running off screens for days.
Klay a better player.
Klay has never been the number 1 option but both are clutch as hell
@@FOECO_J.R.Zoning Klay is not better than Reggie Miller
Klay Thompson is much better than Reggie Miller
@@shermanpearson1385 you have lost your mind
Quark is right. Isiah should have been on that dream team. Stockton, Drexler or christian laettner. Laettner has to go
Laettner was there to fill the pre-agreed spot that a collegiate player would be on the team. so no.
16:17 Did he just say Javale McGee??! 🤦♂️😂😂😂
Yeah unfortunately he said that.
Reggie Miller still salty to this day
TO👏🏾THIS👏🏾DAY👏🏾
Could it be because MJ tried to gouge out his eyeballs? Is he supposed to be grateful to MJ for the way he was treated but MJ holds a grudge for 30 years?
@@maximilian4485 double standards dude. Double standards.
