Seeing the old chuckwagons was so exciting. It's all so authentic. I could spend hours just studying it. This was a wonderful educational inspiring video.
Thank you, Jetty! If you ever get the opportunity to attend a real chuckwagon rendezvous, see if you can volunteer with one of the wagons on the day that they cook for everyone. You'll learn a huge amount about cooking with cast iron, get to know a bunch of extremely interesting and knowledgeable folks, and have a blast. I did!
I love the guy at the end. Casually “Just takes a little practice - just cook.” Plus the idea that putting the coals on the top of the pot for baking! Genius. Hmmmm how would that work on my charcoal grill? Great film could practically smell the food and now I seriously want some of that stew!
Thank you, Debbie! If you can find a rendezvous or competition online, contact the organizer and see if you can volunteer on the day they cook for the public. They can always use an extra pair of hands and it's tremendous fun - and a great learning experience.
Brings back the boy scout campout days! Had a mom one time who would not believe that I cooked 2 pineapple upside down cakes at a camporee. Had to show her the 2nd one in the Dutch oven to prove it to her. Miss those days.
I love this. if you ever have time then try to find a chuckwagon rendezvous happening near your house and volunteer to help them cook. You'll be getting up early and it will be a long day but you'll have a blast, you'll get to hang out with some great people, and you'll learn a huge amount about cooking with cast iron....
Dearest Karin, I really loved watching your latest video. Love and Hugs, (Chase) P.S. I sure do miss my home State of Colorado--this was like a free visit all due to your excellent filming and narrating. 🙂
I think the food will taste 100% perfect, but after a hard day work the masterpieces they make will taste like fu... heaven! Man i am jealous. Nothing like that in my country. Only Feldküche. Kind of this, but not with that passion.
They were far more limited in their ingredients, particularly on a long trek but - within those restrictions - I'm told that they were excellent cooks and regularly made biscuits, deserts (when they had canned fruits), etc.
I appreciate the history of the cuckwagon, but to be honest, the soundtrack didn't match. Yes, I know it's the Batman soundtrack, but it's not what I associate with the old west.
Fair point. I've never seen Batman so I didn't realize it was a similar track but I also wasn't that happy with the music - with the exception of the live musicians, who were terrific.
I love to see when ppl celebrate the legacy of our ancestors.

With enough passion, humans can do literally everything ❤🎉 Have dreams folks, the bigger the better 👍

Good nanner puddin’ is hard to beat, especially with homemade calf slobbers, I agree, leave the cool whip at the grocery store! Thanks Kent!
People should look up Cowboy Kent Rollins
Get up early, like 5am?
Try 3am! 😂
I love my dutch ovens. The thought of cooking for 60 people is daunting. 20 was enough lol.
Love it
Thank you so much, my crazy chicken friend!
