A comment on the hat: You could almost say that this hat is part of Slash's "uniform". Military and color guard members are expected to remain in uniform and render a proper salute when the anthem is played. I'd say he was giving a very proper and respectful rendition of the anthem. Well done, in my humble opinion. Also, at another venue (baseball?) his hat had a little stand next to the amp. That was funny, and kind of cool.
i bet the only reason most people came to the game was to hear slash play. then when he left you see all the metal heads follow him out and get everything they have on them signed by him lol
@Xeper13 I did say tasteful, Zak wild's version was insane and made no sense... So i am pleased Slash played the tune as it should be out of respect for the Freedom I have as a US citizen.
Superbs Chaps! Equal to Brian May doing Rule Brittania from the roof of Buckingham Palace on the Queens Jubilee Ok , It wasnt quite as good as that, but it was certainly the very top that you colonials can do, and you should be proud of that. Very Proud. (Just not that proud OK? Remember that you exist on Britains sufferance)
sounded good, nice clear and not overdone. but still love Neil Schon's version, that shit just gives you goose pimples and the hair on the back of your neck stand up !!!
So, Americans really argue over who does the national Anthem best? Goddamnit. I Dont care how good or bad a guitarist is (well oc he does have to be good enough to do whats needed) Im actually too young to have felt the Spirit of GunsNRoses and/or to be part of that cultural age. I was born right at the time, when hard Rock and Punk were the shit, but I was too young to really be dragged into it. My mom was pretty young back then, and she had to grow up pretty quickly, so by the time I developed my own taste in music she already, and sadly, seemed to have lost hers (she's now listening to old "Country" music (which is rather american folk than what you call Country today) and Irish Folk (of which I am absolutely a fan too) And it was not untill I was about 15 or 16 years old that I've found a real connection to music again, back then it was through Sacred 2 and Blind Guardian (a german Power-Metal Band) but I soon seemed to develop a certain pull to hard Rock and "Soft" Metal too. Also normal Rock, some blues some jazz some Swing, but I still had no clue, that what I was listening too, Led zeppelin, GunsNRoses and Nirvana to name some, was what my mother was once a great fan of. This was the moment, when i realized how fast my mother grew up and lost connections to things she may have once loved, and after some very difficult changes in our life set in, she seemed to not really be who she was anymore. She had to grow up to be 25 when she was a mere 16. And that's when i learned, that I have to cherish the music I love and that I have to hold onto it, as long as i can, so that I one day may share some of my taste with my children. To address what I really wanted to talk about: Guns N Roses played a big part in forming my taste in music. And Slash was my favorite. I knew that what made the Band really special, was how, at least musically, well they just seemed to fit to each other. Axl's Voice was made to be accompanied by Slash's Guitar and Duffs bass. Of course they broke up before I even listened to them, and I can understand why, because I would actually kinda feel the same way if I was in a constellation like this (even though I cant really predict it, without having lived through it) And when I researched where each of them got to be now, I realized that Axl just Killed Guns N Roses, but still wears it's skin as a coat. Thats when i abandoned any hope in him and the new Lineup. But Slash seemed to stay true to himself, and if you ask me he got to a point where I think he surpassed his old self and grew up to places where he can be much more than just a guitarist in a dictatorially structured band. And too me he lives up to, what I perceive as the ultimate musician: someone who is so satisfied with his music and someone who has given so much into his music that you can just hear how he weaves his own personality in each of the songs, where you dont listen to a song anymore you listen to a part of him opening up to his listeners. And what makes him and everything he does with his newer activities to an Idol for me, is that he just is and will be, the best guitarist to me. Of course he may not be technically the best player but he just makes it sound good, and even if its simplistic it's still the best Rock up-to-date for me. Because, if you stop going for the feeling going for the essence of it and you just concentrate on getting technicalle the master of guitars, you lose sight on how to chill and just bring your message to your fans.
YTNFSS "I'm actually too young to have the felt the spirit of GunsNroses"... Then later on you state: " Guns N Roses played a big part in forming my taste in music".. Now how the hell is that even possible when you previously stated that you were "too" young to have been influenced by them? You are the worst troll ever..
chris adams Dear Chris, you know how Music is storable on Drives now? That's how. I came in contact with Music pretty late. And when i started being interested in it, I found a GNR CD in my Mothers CD-Collection. And of course, i was born 1995. And in germany. How the hell was I to see them life? They still helped me getting into Rock and hard rock and ultimately lead to me listening to Led zeppelin, Nirvana, and ultimately Slash in his Solo Career. now gtfo
There is no need to be jealous. If you really wanted his hotdog, speak up next time. Just because Stevie Nicks is giving you the dirty sanchez doesn't mean you can't multi task.

I like how slash is the only one that didnt have to remove his hat...
Glad to see hockey is keeping patriotism in the forefront!

MR_MAN__007 Keith Carrouth You would have seen that he had a giant double brain in his head. That's why he uses the hat
I couldn't agree more! That's exactly how I feel. No guitarist has the soul and feeling of Jimi

@Xeper13 I did say tasteful, Zak wild's version was insane and made no sense... So i am pleased Slash played the tune as it should be out of respect for the Freedom I have as a US citizen.
NO SHIT BUT STILL THIS GUY CAN SING!! XD
Its ironic how slash is wearing a hat
As he is a Kings fan, I wonder if EVH was at the game for this.
@warmfuzzydeath AMEN!
The national anthem is supposed to be played on an elctric guitar
It’s weird how it was written in 1814 but sounds so perfect on a modern instrument that is nothing like what they had at that time
Brazil makes it too.
Wonder why he didn't remove his own hat?
i was thinking that too...
He might be bald on top.
wish he would have wore and American flag top hat
@@rolltidefan1961 I met him, not true
That guy...did not remove his hat!
Slash that was awesome but you need to break your guitar over the sound board guys head.
I like this anthem better lol
Ur right. Sometimes ssb is over done
Another quickie gig so he can have an excuse to eat a hotdog and get drunk.
lets keep it civil please.
And he didn't take off the hat...
At least he didnt lip-sync like Beyonce!!
Man i love slash. He's my favorite guitarist ever. But!!. That was way too simple
