4 days later was Jeff's birthday how I know this is because him and I share the same B day and one of the greatest days in my life was when him and Carlos Santana we're at what everybody remembers as being Pine Knob. It was our birthdays and Jeff was in a great mood joking around and he threw his arms up in the air and asked the audience what would you like to hear so I took the opportunity and screamed at the top of my lungs one of my favorite songs he plays called where were you and he went right into it and when he was finished I was in tears cuz it was so beautiful and when I cleared my eyes I looked around me everyone else was wiping their eyes too. If You don't know who Jeff Beck is you're not a guitarist. And just one small Testament to how great he is Stevie Wonder gave him a song.
That's a great story. I remember Pine Knob well. I saw him at Masonic Temple on July 3, 1976...the day before the bicentennial. He came out on stage and joked: "I come in peace. It's your party, I'm just the band." Yes, he was! Then he played the entire "Wired" album. 💙💙💙

I love Jeff as much as anyone but I have to be honest, and I know you all are going to pile on but that was terrible. He was clearly not interested. The way he cut off the last note of each phrase and rushed to the next one was disappointing. I could hear it in the very first line and then he continued to do it throughout the whole song. I can only imagine this gig was some kind of novelty for someone.
Amazing playing the American Natiional Anthem being a Brit ! The Land of the Free & the Home of the Brave ! @pincheSoetoro Well you have misinterpreted my post. What I was trying to say without saying it is that we have our opinions about such subjective things like music and musical taste. I am very modest, but I also know I have great deals of experience in my taste and music. I can't argue with someone about their taste, so telling me I'm clueless was probably the wrong thing to say to someone like myself. You could never change my opinion on this as to me I'm never wrong. Get it? Good day..
I was expecting him to play "The International"! would've been great, wouldn't it??!!................. Anyway, I've always been a Jeff fan since he played with the Yardbirds in the 60s. I saw the Jeff Beck Group at the Marquee in London (Easter 1968)............Woooow! what a gig there! then a few times in England and in France. Still innovative, musically astonishing with a true sense of THE melody each time he gets to a tune. Nobody else can do it! According to me he's a historical guitar player such as Django, Wes or John Scoffield. Awesome!!!
Jeff Beck is English, No attachment to the song. In some parts seemed like he had trouble, He was off his game. it happens even to the great ones and he is one of the best for sure.
I agree. The key itself was a questionable choice, I don't know what it was but it was a little high, and I don't know why we went an octave down on "rockets red glare". We didn't get a good grip on a bent note, I think it was somewhere in "land of the free home of the brave". That's a moment of the song to show greater fluency and preparedness. Questionable timing choices as well.
@pincheSoetoro Actually I'm a rather seasoned musician thank you. Go see my videos. All the music is performed by me and only me. Guitar, bass, drums, vocals, keys, sitar, etc! So I do know a thing or two about music. But I will conclude with one thing. I am never wrong when it comes to my opinion on what I feel is right and or wrong. I'll take Beck anyday over Hendrix. I said it and mean it. Lastly, clueless? No but skilled beyond normal hearing standards. Make a point without insulting please
One note and you know it's Jeff Beck. Great performance.
Rest In Peace, JB.

The same note Jack Butler couldn't hit
Just JB to respect a song that's been heard a million times .,... but do it like no other has....Musical genius is what he was....
Eh. Not even close to Jimi, but waaaaaay better than the atrocity SRV laid down before his rehab and comeback.
I thought he was going to do "God Save The Queen" but a good version of TSSB
nevertheless, when in Rome do as the Romans.
Amazing playing the American Natiional Anthem being a Brit !
The Land of the Free & the Home of the Brave !
Ony one minor flub and the ENDING, which makes me feel better
because i can totally nail this too on electric guitar but that
ENDING is a REALLY REALLY hard thing to pull off
just right !
Well done Jeff Beck and God Bless

Nice to see a Brit playing the music original composed in England by John Stafford Smith
Ynwie Malmsteen performed much better, sorry mates.
Thanks Jeff for performing our national anthem for us.
Good job, Jeff. R.I.P. an other old car
RIP JEFF BECK!
A more respectful version than that of Jimi Hendrix but Jimi's had some truth to it also.
👉T R U T H👈 🤣
@pincheSoetoro Well you have misinterpreted my post. What I was trying to say without saying it is that we have our opinions about such subjective things like music and musical taste. I am very modest, but I also know I have great deals of experience in my taste and music. I can't argue with someone about their taste, so telling me I'm clueless was probably the wrong thing to say to someone like myself. You could never change my opinion on this as to me I'm never wrong. Get it? Good day..
The ears the guy must have had, truly incredible.!
not bad for an English bloke!
Well if Jeff Beck can make the occasional mistake, the rest of us shouldn't feel too bad.
Awesome!!!
Detroit, Rock city!
thank you for this post!!!
Both great! Jimi composed, sang, and was funky! as opposed to...
FWIW actually Zakk Wylde did part of the Hendrix's version on the Ozzy at Budokan DVD, he did get very close including the feedback and all.
As soon as Jeff started playing, a large black spider ran up my wall from wherever he was hiding... what the hell does that mean?
Elbow nothing....but you gave me a good laugh.
Spiders have good music taste.
It meant that you were supposed to play Boris the spider next.
i wish jeff beck would come play at my high school games
I am big fan of Jeff Beck, this version was ok but Jimmi Hendrix did it much better
Didn't he ever hear the Jimi Hendrix version at Woodstock ? ...Jimi will be showing Jeff how it's done at The Great Gig in the Sky..........
I love beck but he kind of fudged the top note! I would fudge it all up so balls to him anyway.
Sorry, but Hendrix' version is miles ahead of this. Beck's Amazing Grace, though, was awesome.
