You really got me into acoustic more, please keep them coming.
I know it would take some effort, but how about Classical Gas?
Thanks again Ray!
Marty, teach how to play the air guitar for begginers, my dad was a professional air guitarist, I always wanted to make him proud and shred on the air guitar
I've just bought my first guitar since haven given it up at eight, watching your vids to help me learn and I must say I really like your teaching style thanks in advance!
Love your vids man :D
I had a skin cancer scare and had to fine an indoor hobby. I started playing at the age of 52 about 3 or 4 years ago and you were my first online guitar teacher. I watch your beginners guitar lessons over and over and love the way you teach and I try and practice every day and drove my wife crazy but it was worth it. Just to let everyone know out there in cyberspace, that its never to late to learn guitar and Marty is the best teacher from beginner to advanced. Thanks heaps Marty. Cheers from Andrew (Australia) good on a mate!
Well done mate! I hope you are well but guitar and health wise. Greetings from Portugal
Both
That is awesome ! I started learning at 36 and because of Marty , I can play almost 50 songs now - and have made great progress in 5 years . Best channel online for sure , and The teaching style is awesome ! Keep going Andrew , enjoy !
I'm sure you will enjoy your musical journey, good luck 👍
A few years after your comment but I started at 44 and 48 now and would say Ime half decent. As with many of us work and life in general affect playing time but I keep trying to learn with any spare time I get . Are you still playing ? How’s your progress ??
Because of you , when I finally got and found this, it took me about 15min to get to where even my could understand what I was playing. I’m so pumped to actually kinda play one of my all time favorites of all time. I’m going to make my fingers bleed to get through this cleanly by the end of the week. Tears of joy for this old retired guy. I’m so glad I finally got to do this thing. I love everything you teach and how you do it. I can’t even imagine trying to learn guitar without your resources. Glad now I waited. Nothing to stop me except death. Thanks Marty for making an old guy very happy. This is one of the coolest things I’ve ever done. I love that there’s really no end to this thing.
Marty, as a 55 year who recently started taking lessons and finally starting to make progress, I love your energy and approach THANK YOU
Keep on going never give up!
Hey Marty, just want to say that I've enjoyed your videos and have learned more songs from you than really anyone else in my 53 years of playing guitar. That's right 53years of playing guitar. So thank you, keep up your good work. You have no idea how powerful the affects of our actions can be. Grace and Peace to you young man.
Merci!
Marty, you are the man! Seems every time I want to learn how to play a song (51 year old beginner here!) you have just the tutorial for me, and your teaching style is the bomb!
I have a playlist named Schwartz, were I keep all of your lessons. You brought me one step forward. You broke down for me: Castles made of sand, Hendrix Hey Joe, and Little Wing
Just pick up my old guitar after about 12+ years. Found your UA-cam videos. Great stuff. Had stuff like this been as prevalent back then probably wouldn't have ever stopped play. Thanks!
I appreciate the simplicity of your teaching for complex sounding songs Marty, YOU ROCK MAN! Keep on keeping on!
so fuckin true!
Okay, now you're hitting me right where I like it - Good 'ole U2! High School wouldn't have been tolerable without them!! Love the tutorial, Marty!
Bedankt
It occurred to me I really wanted to learn this song so search it up and BOOM there’s Marty AGAIN! Instant happiness before I even watched it because I already know I’m going to get a precise lesson that I WILL be able to execute. Thanks a ton for everything
Any tips on that power Dm trick> can't really lift my fingers and land em back down accurately enough
Marty , Thank you for your cover/lesson of ‘one’ by U2 ! You really break it down for the strumming/ timing impaired like me!
Marty. I have this affinity to grab songs that stick with me like this songs progression, and I have to say this is about the third song I have come across you and I have to say you have a fantastic ear besides a an excellent knowledge theory wise but your timing and exact inflection to how songs were originally recorded really stands out to my same stubborn desire to do songs correctly! Thank you for your patience to teach correctly. Props!
So Marty, for what its worth,,, Ive been a beginner guitar player for what seems like forever. I started late. Back and forth , guitar no guitar , lessons , practice, success, failure, etc I always listened and appreciated music, new and old. I picked it up again and found you. I feel we share the same taste in music. We have good taste! Music is the best. My favorite guitar player is Frank Zappa. How do you feel about his work? I understand most of your lessons are for beginners , although Im finding I am progressing into some of your more advanced lessons with ease. Well, more than I used to. Thanks to you. Anyway I have been through the gammit on U tube instructors and I keep coming back to you, You are a truly gifted teacher. I am a pottery artist and I also teach. I have been told I am good at what I do. It makes a difference. I dont make a lot of money, but I hope you do as that is also rewarding. Hopefully you will continue playing and teaching as long as it is rewarding to you, because I,( and i am sure many others) so benefit from your skills as a guitar teacher. Thank you for your time and effort. you deserve to know you are loved as a musician and a teacher. Keep up the good work, the smile, the attitude ,and dont loose that lucky hat. Thanks again for the great lesson.
Hi Marty, my name is AJ been following you for years really enjoy your videos. Bought my first guitar 38 years ago and still can't play very well but enjoy trying (to shy to play in front of people). Thanks for taking the time and effort to do the videos and making playing look so fun. Sincerely your Ohio fan AJ.
Marty - I'm going to pay you what I believe is the highest compliment that can be paid to a music teacher: you have ignited a passion in me to play the guitar. Thank you!
Hey Marty! I just wanted to say thank you for helping me reach my path to a good guitarist. I recently picked the guitar up and you were the first person I looked to! 3 months in and I'm still looking at all your videos! Love the work Marty, keep it up!
Stop looking at the videos and start practising. Did you practice spider walk today? Guessed it. Go and start doing it now. NOW.
Hey Marty you are the best. I've been following you for a year now since I picked up a guitar at the age of 47. I even picked up your basic guitar jamz instructional videos. I'm finally comfortable enough to attack this awesome song. Thanks for making it funny and breaking it down perfectly
You're the best Marty. You've no idea how far i am going with your lessons. Thank you
Words cannot express how greatful I am towards you and your channel. Because of your strive to teach others --such as myself-- you have granted many the wish to play guitar. For this, I am forever a fan of yours and in your debt. Thanks, Marty!
Milo Klein thanks so much!
Adding the strumming pattern really helps...thanks for that addition!
Simple the Best teacher on UA-cam. Great Job Sir, Great Job!!!
Hey Marty! I'm just beginning to play and have already learned so much from your videos. My family is complimenting me and can even recognize some of what I am playing. Lol Keep up the great work!
Even someone as hopeless as me can play a half decent tune after watching your tutorials.
I'm actually loving my guitar - it no longer 'gently weeps'.
Thanks so much mate = )
Man when I go buy my first guitar I'm going to have to come back to this channel because I think he's a stellar teacher

Thanks Marty. I`ve been following your classes which is helping me a lot to learn.
Marty, you are there very best! Keep doing what you do.
You the man Marty! I'd be completely lost with you, hope you keep on teaching!
7:03 I just can't get this to work, my left hand feels wrong and hurts too and the notes don't ring out. Maybe Marty has super big hands.
You are a great instructor and you keep it simple. Thank you!
Awesome, man! Love it! Been playing this one for a long time, but never learned a good way to play that embellishment part at the beginning leading in. Thanks!
Thanks Marty! Been wanting to learn this song for years! Your version is simple and easy to understand. The embellishments are great and I can finally see it coming together. Can’t believe I hadn’t seen this video before! You da man!
You rock farty!! I've really followed your teaching and play with your videos just about nightly. Thanks so much
Very good. However, I have a suggestion. Rarely do bands play complex chording on-stage. Seems they stick with simplicity so they can play a 2 to 3 hour concert. So for this song, you can do the embellishments on open fret chords without having to go up the neck. For Am, do your hammer on and pulling off on the B string. For the D, play the full D instead of the suspended chord and hammer on/pull off on the high E string. Then for the Fmaj7 chord, back to the B string for hammer on/pulling off. On the G, hammer on/pull off on the high E string again. Much easier. Thank you for your wonderful lessons online.
El Magico, El Maestro my man Marty. Another One!
Very big thanks. A really great tutorial. Clear and understandable. Thanks for the strum pattern.
Now I've decided to easy it out. Then I learnt some ACDC, Back in Black, I shook me all night long. Also I used to love her, and, right now U2 One.
Most U2 songs are very simple, Yet great songs. Thanks for the tutorial.
You deserve it so hard to get up with your buisness. You really helped me with your Videos and your constant Motivation! Love ur stuff!

I have learnt quite a lot from you thank you so much!
Hey Marty would you be able to do a new lesson on Black by pearl jam and go through the rhythm and strumming patter more in depth
Excellent vid Marty, thank you. 🎸
Great video! Keep it up
Hi Marty very cool Im learning lot of songs whith yuor help bravo dall'Italia Maurizio
Excellent lesson Marty! Thank you very much!
Hey Marty. You are a good player, no question. However, the intro to this song is finger picked all the way with slides and sounds best on a LP. I had new players hit out the basic chords & figure they know the song until they were shown how it is really played. It can be played on acoustic (Edge did it for Canada's 150th). A little rotary on the verses helps too, Thumbz up none the less.
Your tutorials rock! You explain things in a way that is easy to understand. Thank you!
Awesome. You got it. Thank you Mr. Marty
That's Great Marty, you are the best teacher! Cheers dx
I used to play this song in standard tuning . I never felt it sounded quite right. It’s only recently that I realized it’s tuned a half step down
Your a top tutor. Thank you
