Very well done. Looks like I am going to need alot of learning and practice. this is one of my favorite songs of all time. How do you get so good ! looks difficult for me compared to where I am at in my playing ...Just Beautiful. Thank You !
you have it worked out, perfectly accurate! You have a remarkable ability to determine what and where, is on record, which us lesser guitarists and Tull fans, Thank you!🌟
Love all your lessons. First saw Tull on the Aqualung tour in ’71 in Boston…..spoiled for life. Always loved the acoustic stuff the best. Thanks for putting these lessons out there….so much fun to finally play the tunes I could never get quite right! That looks like a good New England style IPA. My fav. Cheers!
Glad you're enjoying them. Yeah, Tull was a force of nature in those days. I saw them first in '72 on the initial TAAB tour. Stunning display of musicianship, showmanship, and humor. Never seen anything like it before or since. It was an IPA! You are good.
This is a great lesson, Doc, always enjoy your posts! I bought a PRS SE Parlor P20E Parlor acoustic a few weeks ago just for this song, LOL! Turns out it's blast to play, can't hardly put it down. I had learned this version about a year ago on my Martin Dreadnought acoustic, but it's much easier for me on the Parlor.
Thanks so much! I love Parlor guitars. I have an OMC that I play quite a bit, but that's the biggest body I play. I'm playing it in this video. When I pick up my dreadnought these days it feels like it's huge. I have a Rainsong and an Orangewood parlor. Neither is great and I would like to find a better one. I'm sure the PRS sounds great!
“When you’re falling awake and you take stock of the new day, And you hear your voice croak as you choke on what you need to say, Well, don’t you fret, don’t you fear, I will give you good cheer.”
Thank you! I'm playing a Martin OMC Aura here. One of my favorites, although it wasn't a hit. They didn't produce it for too long. I love it because the fret board is slightly wider, l but the neck is really thin so it still plays easy for my little paws. I usually record solo guitar with 2 mics but for this I just used one Neumann KM 184. It's a terrific pencil condenser mic on acoustic instruments. I roll off quite a bit of low and mid frequencies in post because that's how all the guitars were recorded back then. Almost no low frequencies so the acoustic guitar sat better in a mix. Cheers!
@@snoozedoctor No its not my Opinion. You ruin this lovely Ian Anderson song. FACT. Geeze what a mess you make of the Chord structure. Go to lessons Man
@@HollyB-b3t Post it. Like I say, I look forward to watching it. I'm always ready and willing to learn from someone better than myself. I've been playing for 50 years but that's probably not as long as you've been playing.
Of all the great Tull acoustic pieces, this is my favorite.
It's a great one. My favorite single too.
Thanks Doc. None of your Tull tutorials are tedious. Just well appreciated by us Tull fans. Thanks for doing that.
You are kind. Thank you!
@febsat , I second that.....
One of my favorites but with Tull, there are too many to choose from. Thanks

Thanks! I hope you find these useful. Ian's tempo is always the hardest part. He can pound out some arpeggios, and never misses.

Thank you! I love the challenge of trying to get every note right. I have a great time doing it.
Thank you so much. Please don't stop anymore

Great lyrics, aren't they? He could be masterful with the pen.
Carry on Doc!! No matter!!
Thanks! I plan to!
You are a great teacher!!!
Please could you do sossity from Benefit one day
Thank you
🙏
I've covered that one! Check out my channel for it. Some of it is challenging, not so much to play, but to sing at the same time! Cheers!
Thank You so much for these great lessons! Could you please tell me what kind of guitar you have and how it's mic'd
cause it sounds so good!

You forgot to play the chords to “if you wait then your plate I will fill” G-A
Yeah, I was mostly focusing on the changed intro, so I didn't completely do the rest. That was in my way more tedious earlier video. 😀😁
Very messy intro. Very badly played you murder this great little song. You need to practice more my friend
Well, that's like, you know, your opinion man.
