- Kamala Harris clapped along to a musical performance in Puerto Rico unaware that the Spanish song was a protest anthem aimed at her.
The US vice president initially looked enthusiastic as the song began as she made her way outside a San Juan community centre where she had been speaking to civic leaders on Friday.
She pointed and clapped as the singing began, lingering outside the building to take in the performance.

Unbeknown to the vice president, the song’s lyrics criticised her and Joe Biden, the US president. According to Newsweek, it included the lines: “We want to know, Kamala, what did you come here for? We want to know what you think of the colony.”

It was not directed to her. Actually the criticism by the musician was directed to your country. The musicians sang “Get out” “Free Haiti” “Free Palestine”. Truthfully, outside your small enclosed bubble, 80% of the world hates your country.

2. Puerto Rico should be allowed official statehood, and not be left in some pseudo-limbo of territory status.
3. That should be the same with the other 15 US territories....they deserve the right to official statehood if they choose.

Yo quisiera saber de qué migración es que habla Kamala Harris sé por experiencia propia de que si uno entra indocumentado Estados Unidos no le permite no tener trabajo. Y la gente que está en Estados Unidos está con visa o con permiso de trabajo.
A veces son visas que obtienen por debajo de agua y es gente que no se sabe comportar en su país de origen.
Entonces si vamos a tocar el tema de migración creo que debería de empezar una investigación con las personas que obtuvieron visa americana por debajo de agua y así también con los abogados que extendieron esas visas americanas.
Porque no es posible de que lo estén fastidiando a uno en su país de origen solo por tener familiares migrantes y muchas veces sea por amistades o familiares de gente que ha obtenido esas visas americanas por debajo de agua.
Dicho eso no sé qué juego tienen con la migración que en mi caso el oficial de migración estadounidense me dijo que me habían metido en un juego y lo peor es de que no le permitan a uno estudiar ni tener experiencia laboral en su país de origen lejos del hecho de que uno no esté interesado en salir de su país y por el contrario haya gente que obtenga visa americana.
Sé que cruzar Río Bravo coma el desierto y saltar el muro fronterizo es una mentira si realmente les interesa cerrar la frontera deberían de pedirle a México que del lado mexicano cierren definitivamente la frontera porque además si uno cruza indocumentado a Estados Unidos no le permite uno obtener trabajo entonces a qué va esos falsos inmigrantes?!

Your comment is unfair. She did not know what the singers were saying. I speak Spanish and I can't tell what they are saying. Plus, she was placed there by the hosts and it's not her fault, much less stupidity, that she was clapping initially in a gesture of friendliness and appreciation of rhythmic music.
It's still humiliating because there is an argument to be made that Puerto Rico is treated like a imperial colony with second class status and severely lacking representation. For an opportunist, nationalist (as America largely is), imperialist, and essentially right-wing VP (center-right at best) to stand there smiling and clapping thinking she's just doing her token ceremonial duties... it's just so deliciously pathetic.
