ORIGINAL INFO: Chickens, blimps, barons, and trucks. I’ve had fever dreams that made more sense than this.
RUMINATIONS: The nice thing about the ruminations at this point is that this was also right when the Patreon started, which means for a while I was doing weekly behind the scenes posts, meaning I can remind myself of what the hell was going on at the time. Unfortunately, I can’t really do those EVERY week as I had initially, but I always try to get them out when I can. And just a reminder, the Ruminations will stop once we reach the Zyurangers episode since that was when I started uploading the new episodes to youtube as a backup anyway.
In any event, what was going on here? Well, I hadn’t had any storyline for quite a while and when a storyline is up and running I usually want at least one episode per month to have SOME kind of storyline stuff in it, even if it’s just a brief conversation. The next planned storyline bit required filming outside my home, which meant it needed to be scheduled out, but it needed to get pushed back a week. And since I didn’t want people hanging for ANOTHER week, I threw this together to create a bit of a tease for it - that we might be encountering Vyce again. Conveniently, this also allowed for some foreshadowing and hints about where things were going, including with Harvey, 90s Kid, and the foam lizard.
It's raining hen, Hallelujah It's raining hen!
You win!
AMEN!
"I'm pretty sure he's Italian!" Wow, after issue 9 when it is revealed the Baron isn't even german, this joke just got a whole lot funnier.
is it weird that I was hoping the chickens would play a bigger part... I love my chickens and they need heroes of there own
I was kind of hoping that it would be like Kids Next Door, where the villain is using chickens for some evil scheme
@@Awesome_Pichu That is so hilariously stupid, it needs to be a thing.
Hey, when I saw all those chickens on the front cover, I was certain they would be part of the Baron's gimmick.
I actually like that the Highwayman wants to keep US alive to try to turn him to the dark side rather than just having the Baron take him alive because Main Character Shield. It makes him look smarter. Also, I like the idea of a villain who is impressed when the hero beats him and values increasing the power of his organization over taking revenge for past defeats.
Is it weird that after 16:30 I really want for an actual Linkara storyline to be resolved using Linkara's knowledge of furniture?
@20:30 Chickens are sort of able to fly. They use their wings more for jumping higher, running faster, and cushioning and controlling falls from high areas (such as from a blimp.) They can't sustain lift or attain true flight, but controlled falling they got pretty covered, their wings would act like a parachute.
+the Insane Artist
Well I remember from my youth I had a neighbor who had a number of chicken/Pheasant hybrids a number of whom could fly.
So, it wasn't flying, it was falling with style?
in the words of buzz light year "this isn't flying its falling with style
MrGMoney1944 Pheasants can fly, so they must have inherited flight feathers from that parent.
pezhead53 Pretty much.
No one knows the differences between a blimp and a Zeppelin as a blimp has no frame and only a cab a Zeppelin as a framed ballon is bigger and you can enter parts of the ballon in fight
Here a link to that explain more and all terms www.airships.net/dirigible
Bullet Bill? No, that's clearly Kabula!
I now wanna see a US-1/Kirby crossover. The image of Dedede driving a semi sells itself. I mean, he drove an specialized car/buggy on occasion.
Well, before these reviews I would not have picked up a US-1 comic and seriously considered buying it. However, thanks to these reviews, when I happened upon one at an antique store I did not hesitate to slap it on the counter and shell out the whole dollar it cost for purchase. I don't have any regrets, these comics are such a treat. Now when friends rummage through my bookshelf for something to borrow I get to explain to them what US-1 is and why they should just read it.
Linkara makes a roadhouse reference...
AND SANTA CAN BE OUR REGULAR SATURDAY NIGHT THING
16:30 When a corporation owned in part or in whole by a private equity company sells stock to service its debt to said private equity firm, it is called a reverse leveraged buyout, or RLBO. Companies that do so almost always have negligible earnings. So the only way to value them is by the price to sales ratio. People in the right position can make money by flipping RLBO stock. However, never hold such stock for any longer than it takes to sell it. Just something I picked up as a research assistant to an equity trader.
"Are they doing promotions for Sharknado 3 already? The second one isn't even out yet!"
Ok, I know this is kinda an awkward segway due to the whole "rerun" thing, but...I was at Walmart the other day and saw..
Sharkando: The Fourth Awakens.
Sharknado 7 is now a thing.
Mitch Fletcher we’ll wait here in the future until 10 and 14 come out and we all collectively facepalm
Also...chickens can fly...that is the reason why you clip the flight feathers on their wings, to keep them from being able to fly. I have owned chickens. Though I admit, that some species of chicken might be incapable of flight.
I remember finding a website that had every US-1 comic uploaded and ready to read. I myself can't remember the website and I think it's gone now anyway, but if you thought the chicken thing was insane, it only gets more ludicrous, especially the final issue.
I take pride in the fact that if I ever become wealthy enough to afford a bright red military officer's uniform and a sharkfaced zeppelin, then I would only use my sharklin and muttonchops for good.
we all know thats not true
Okay, seriously, I want to see US-1 use a chicken cannon now.
5:14 Okay, show of hands who wants to see US 1 take down the Colossal Titan? Come on you know if he had enough time he could do it, and with zero casualties. Also the baron looked like what would happen if you mixed Hoggish Greanly from Captain Planet with the Major from Hellsing.
he really does look that way. also I doubt he could beat the collosal Titan.
+Wireless_Phantom You're underestimating the power of truckin
+1TrulyMad if the truck transformed, hell yes
Just don't tell Eren. He may just go into blood lust
Well, past me turns out that Baron Von Blip (seriously) actually did have an army of Neo Nazi's working for him. Again, seriously! Not that he was racist or something he legitimately thought they looked cool, like the Cosplay Hitler from Biggles and the Menace from Space. See people there's a reason it's called Godwins LAW!
We need another Deadpool special with US-1 in it! Marvel, make this happen! Also, somehow include Snowflame even if he's DC because the world needs more Snowflame
Deadpool called in to put Snowflame into rehab. He's a soldier of fortune- he'd do it. And Snowflame could try and turn Deadpool onto cocaine- the insanity continues.
Best. Crossover. Ever.
And it would be a very good PSA hell episode.
@@alicedarhk9790 But doesn't Deadpool already like cocaine?
"Look my plans are just really flexible."
Honestly, I've always felt that was the best way to go about it.
The Baron: "Blimps shall replace ze trucking industry as ze major mover of goods in za country!"
Random guy: But what about airplanes and helicopters?
The Baron: Uhhhhhhhhhhh…….
I see the blimp and i can only think of one thing...
"Kirov reporting."
*Red Alert 2 Hell March Theme intensifies*
Okay, sure, chickens can't fly, but I'm pretty sure the flapping of their wings and stuff could slow their descent from the zeppelin enough so that they won't be harmed. Not the most perfect theory, I'll admit, but it's something.
New on the Menu- chicken nuggets, chicken breast, chicken fingers and chicken stacks. im sure papa wheelie and wide load gonna save and make a fortune with all of those chickens.
I didnt know you have transformers masterpiece frenzy
I don't know if he is an actual character in us-1 but I do have known that Papa Wheelie is my next shadowrun rigger.
Linkara announces issue he is going to review
Also Linkara doesn’t have the issue
*ROLL THE INTRO!*
Also up yours nostalgia critic
I do think airships could have a place in the modern day, but not as a practical form of the transportation. I imagine them as being like cruise ships of the sky. Like really, imagine a long, luxury flight experience, that’s slow enough to do some sight seeing
I finally found a use for that vine. *plays clip* Look at all those chickens
" I say I say." What is he Foghorn Leghorn?
Linkara, what would your reaction be to a crossover between Brute Force, US-1, and Chik-fil-A's cow superheroes?
US-1 > Batman
US-1>Every other DC and Marvel character combined
@@eugenideddis except maybe Brute Force.
DAMMIT ... now I want chicken tenders. Why do people think you eat only them anyway?
Why doesn't his truck turn into a giant robot that fires chickens from its cannon fists?
You know, after Cinnamon, Shadow of the Bat, Holy Terror, and Kingdom of Monsters, this is a major step up.
Too bad those weren't Turkeys-you could use more Riding With Death quotes that way
Poultrygeist is real. Yes really.
This is my favorite issue of US1. How is it that this dumb comic is more fun that most comics nowadays?
"I'm pretty sure one of those old ladies is stalking me." the faceless old woman who secretly lives in your home?
From what I can tell about the U.S.1 comics back then, it seemed like all fun and silliness. Flash Gordon kinds of silly and "bad" that makes for legends that people want to keep hearing about.
First offhand mention of Fat Grandma as a "woman stalking him".
This makes me want to watch MST3K - Chicken of Tomorrow
"The car doesn't have a driver! The chickens are taking over!"
the chicken puns still make me giggle like an idiot. honestly, i have no issues with terrible puns in AT4W
I'll admit, I think US-1 should get an appearance in a Marvel cartoon or maybe even a cameo in the MCU. The guy seems both ridiculous and awesome. If they want someone realistic, fine tweak his story a bit, but keep the same spirit and fun tone.
12:19 That is my most favorite bumper.
I loved that “have at thee” bit you did.
Also: OOPS, ALL CHICKENS!!!
I've seen a chickens fly. About 2 and 1/2 feet but flight none the less.
Poultrygeist was made decades later by Troma.
20:46 - Oh C'mon Linkara; maybe it's operating on Ocarina of Time Logic.
*and the the chickens became chicken TENDERS* 😂
maybe he knows a particularly evil glazier
I agree I wanted the giant robot thing to happen too
The Critic/Linkara midroll but is my absolute favorite of all of them. I love they way they imitate each other and how they react to each others imitations. It's just great, and it kind of makes me miss the midrolls (though I know that there are more cuz they're not needed anymore). Oh well, there's all the midroll video
This is the most excellent way to provide laughs.
I now demand a US 1 movie adaptation just because I'm imagining a PA frantically calling all over saying "give me all your chickens. No, seriously, *ALL* OF THEM."
Hey Lewis, you know that Baron von Blimp is a reference to Colonel Blimp, right?
www.imdb.com/title/tt0036112/
In addition to the Hindenberg, the loss of the helium filled airship the USS Akron spelled the beginning of the end of rigid airships by the US Navy! The US Arkon was by far more disastrous with 73 lives lost, as only 36 people died during the Hindenberg disaster (13 out of 36 passengers and 22 out of 61 crew, as well as 1 member of the ground crew died, as the disaster occurred while the airship was preparing to land, meaning there were 62 survivors out of the 97 people onboard the Hindenberg)! Also, the USS Akron lacked life jackets, with USS Macon and other airships receiving life jackets to avert future tragedies involving airships falling into the sea & when the Macon went down in a storm, 70 out of 72 crew were saved indicating the life jackets did the job!
5:50 HAVE AT THEE!
Where's my Baron Blimp/Virman Vundabar crossover?
So, Retread has the backstory of Scott Bakula's character from the crappy TV movie/failed pilot "I-Man"?
Funny thing about that Attack on Titan reference. U.S. 1 could of too fought with the Avengers and Guardians of the Galaxy against the titans in the crossover event comic. Because of the news ANN mentioned many months ago, and I have the first 4 pages of that on the back of my Attack on Titan: Colossal Edition Volume 2. And reading those pages, the inaccuracy to the manga is rather disappointing. Because they took down the female titan in one page/2 panels. If people know about Aot/SnK spoilers, it wouldn't be that easy for even Iron Man, the one who took her down.
These chicken puns are setting a horrible example for young readers. The Comics Code Authority should have bantam.
did... did Loyd Kaufman read this and get the idea for Poultrygiest that way?
Okay, now someone really has got to actually make a Jaws ripoff called "Beaks". Preferentially, the same people who made "The Night of the Lepus"
Amazon actually has a patent on using lighter than air craft as an intermediate staging ground for drone deliveries. Basically, the airship works like a portable, slow moving warehouse with all the stuff to be delivered for the day and a fleet of small, faster drones picks up packages and delivers them to their final destination when it's roughly overhead. Then they return to the ship either for another package or to recharge using bays and solar panels.
It gets around some of the limited range problems of drones and current FAA regulations requiring direct line of sight to commercial drones while they are in operation.
Sadly, their patent only has it operating at events like concerts and football games instead of turning our cities into the cyber/dirigible-punk dystopias we actually want but it's a first step at least.
(plays the Chicken version of "Fuck You" from the Muppets)
I'm surprised the Baron isn't called Biernard Dietrich so he has matching initials too.
I wonder if there's ever been a blimp Decepticon. I don't remember any
So it wasn't so silly and was a compelling story they should have had a transport hub magnate from an alternate earth who wanted to show the power of modern blimps so got a hold of transport magnats on this earth and came down with his best pilot to challenge U.S.-1, because on his earth they continued to invest money into blimps even though they had their own setbacks simular to the Zeplins of or earth!!!
Quite a few chickens should be bloody. Chickens are extremely territorial. Chicks a day old will peck each other to death.
I can't be the only one who think the Atop the Fourth Wall theme song sounds like the Breaking Bad theme song.
Chickens can't pull off controlled flight, but they can certainly float down at less then terminal velocity with their wings.
Linkara would you be against a crossover between US-1 and Brute Force
What does it say about this series that I wouldn't have been surprised if they HAD turned into giant robots?
Anyone else think the Great Chicken Colonel looks a lot like Beak of the X-Men? Familial connection?
Linkara and Nostalgia Critic should smack talk more.
11:15
21:13
“Hello airplanes? Yeah is blimps, you win!”
I wonder if US will ever get his own series again.
you think he'll get a cameo, or maybe his own movie?
+XFlare17 US-1 the movie? Please...we all know we'll get that after Brute Force getting a TV series.
Who knew truckers were great heroes?😜
29.9.22
...poultrygeist? The troma movie?
This cover makes it look like this issue takes place in Delaware, we have more chickens than people here.
A zeppelin? Wouldn't the more natural competitor be a train?
7:05 well that a new one but no one done card games on zeppelins and trucks.
hah! gillians planet... it sucked!
Ah it will be a sad day when the ruminations run out
Chickens are the closest relatives of T-Rexes
"Look at all those chickens!"
something is sticking out of your ceiling
last i heard he's a married space trucker.
Retread is the Infiltrator.
This issue is unironically good
So many Chickens!
11:54 he doesn't seem all that into it
Oh god...US hit a Cucco!
Was that a pokedex at the end?
I love how much joy you have in this. It's nice to see after the horrid nightmares such as Frank Miller's... anything.
I can only say one thing about the Zeppelin....
Kirov! Reporting!
How many issues of US-1 are there? I hope there's plenty! Might have to track these down and read em!
Ah, the surface to air missiles finally arrived, I've been waiting for them for months.
Daym! I'm starting to think AT4W is a breakfast show.
The US 1 comics were actually pretty readable. Very very silly but readable.
wouldn't zeplins be better environmentally than trucks?
+FaiD Review But they are slow...
FaiD Review given the inefficiency, not necessarily
US-1 Night Rider cross over it must happen!!!
A deadly Chicken weapon... Chikens my Mephisto.
