@@VioletKB if you listen to the shows around the time Diorama was released Daniel sang like an angel, pitch was incredible, powerful, clear, belting voice, no problems with the high notes, and buttery falsetto. He sounds very much like the record. Late 2002, early 2003 or so he started smoking in my estimation (probably tobacco for sure and maybe marijuana?) This significantly enflamed and irritated his throat and respiratory system in my view. Live from Faraway Stables for example, his voice sounds muffled, subdued tone, not as clear, struggling big time with the belting high notes, lots of pitch issues, not as much power, not as much shimmer. Just my opinion. He's the best of his generation, truly great, so no criticism here, just my observation.
@@TomSchmitzLP there was this hackett documentary that was never released, but u can see the trailer here ua-cam.com/video/Jg8Wltl5eao/v-deo.html . around 2:39 timestamp in that trailer daniel admits to smoking pot, so u are right. tbh i think he might have also experiment with hard drugs (some ppl claim he was using cocaine as he was showing some symptoms during 99 live shows , like weird jaw movement) which would partly line up with his anxieties and anorexia, but thats just a speculation
@@TomSchmitzLP In all fairness to 2003 Dan, he was sick during Faraway Stables. You can hear he sounds super stuffy. Compare this to Sao Paulo or Rock Am Ring (despite being very drunk) that same year, he doesn't sound nearly as bad. Definitely worse than 2002, but much closer than Faraway Stables.
I can think of no bigger tragedy to rock music than when this guy decided to lose his passion for rock music and mutate into a mega-quirky woman vomiting out twinkledink glitterfunk “music”. 4 phenomenal albums in a row and then one absolutely inexplicable, soul-crushing abomination that blew it all to Hell. But when he was tapping into what he was so natural at (composing the most infectious, memorable riffs, hooks, melodies and vocal harmonies) he was unmatched. I would take 90s Daniel ANY DAY over Alice In Chains, Soundgarden, Nirvana or Pearl Jam. It always infuriated me when people compared Silverchair to those bands. They just didn’t hit me anywhere near as perfectly as Silverchair did. I severely miss this band, but I believe Daniel is way too far gone now to come back into his former talent. It is so incredibly sad to me. It is somehow less painful for me to convince myself that he died than see (or rather hear) what he actually became.
Yep, I blame Paul Mac for corrupting him beyond repair. I worried when he released that “I Can’t Believe It’s Not Rock” CD, then The Dissociatives. But at least he kept that crap out of Silverchair until YM. But Paul was the beginning of the infection that killed Daniel’s talent.

Very odd placement for After All These Years. Should’ve either been first or the penultimate performance of the set.
I really love Daniel voice. Even when he is feeling bad he sounds amazing❤❤❤
I miss 1995-2002 Daniel..... His voice was so SO god damn good. One of the best vocalists ever.
I would think it'd be tough to keep up that intensity every night for 8 years.
Truly! Daniel Johns is my favorite rock vocalist of all time... Next, Chris Cornell

Em 97 ele ainda conseguia fazer, no show dele na MTV.
Before he started smoking..
Is that why he didn't sing as well in the later years?
