- Hello lovely community! Long time no see. I am here to have a chat and share how I prepare for group exhibition with Natasha and Melanie. I also share how I did some of the Calmtober illustrations. Calmtober is similar like Inktober I am hosting it second year in a row. I chat about why being behind art challenges is great and how to keep positive mindset while being behind.
It would be amazing if you could give this video thumbs up so it can reach more people here on UA-cam. All the comments are much appreciated, thank you! I try to answer to as many I can. :)
Check out these amazing and talented artists @MelanieChadwick and @NatashaNewtonArt
I'm hosting Calmtober this year as well, follow me on Instagram @kriksisart to see prompt list and other artists who will be participating under #calmtober hashtag.
I started doing monthly zoom drawing sessions on my Patreon cozy fireplace tier and up. I also have digital Patreon shop if you only want to get replays of these drawing sessions.

Your artwork is always so lovely! Don't worry about being behind on those challenges, they're guidelines, not rules!

Calmtober! Hey! It was great to meet you and see your work (I'm the 'Chicken in a Tree' lady). Really wishing I'd picked up some stickers and washi tape from you. Absolutely love your work and so happy that I can have a little 'fix' on here too. Your content is great! Be lovely to grab some goodies and maybe have a little catch up some time. xx
Calmtober - thank you, so very lovely.

Loved watching this Kriksis! Thanks for documenting our set up and take down- those timelapses were so fun to see! Also noticed I was wearing shorts for setting up and wooly tights when taking down!! Autumn is certainly here now.
Thank you Mel! Haha yes indeed, I feel the weather changed so fast just in one week. :))
Calmtober. Oh my goodness that was such an inspiring video. Loved seeing the exhibition - wish I could have gone. Calmtober. I enjoyed watching your video. I’m fascinated by your imaginative artwork and wonder where your ideas come from? They remind me a bit of Beatrix Potter with the animals in a human world. Thank you for such an inspiring glimpse into your world! ❤

Calmtober🍂 Hi Kriksis, I missed you while you were away. I love participating in drawing challenges! And Calmtober, I need to participate, because like I said before, the list is incredible. I already made some tumbnails, but I couldn't work on it anymore. As you said, we can always do it in other months, and mine will definitely be in December. I appreciated seeing your Art exhibition. I love the arts of all three, and one day I really want to be able to see them up close, that will make me very happy. I loved seeing that you made postcards. They’re so gorgeous! Thank you for this incredible video, I love your work. ❤️
I realy love this video. Seeing you at work and admiring all the lovely artworks😍👍calmtober

thank you! :))
Hello Kriksis! Calmtober! Thank you very much for the video with the beautiful memory of visiting you and Mel at your exhibition. It was so beautiful. I love the sketches you made:). They radiate such cosiness. I especially like the sheepdog in front of the fireplace. But they are all beautiful. Calmtober doesn't sound as stressful as inktober. I don't take part in it, but it's nice to see what other artists are painting. Have a great day! Take care! I wish you all the best, Gabi♥
Calmtober
Cozy video as always...your artwork makes me so happy. Also your calmtober pieces were phenomenal ❤
Calmtober Thankyou lovely Kriksis your creature drawings are so heartwarming
Wow! Your Calmtober pictures are so cute. Of course they are still your style and each one tells a story all of its own. Loved seeing the exhibition I wish that I could have visited. So much work in setting it all up and taking it down again. That artworks look wonderful together. Such talent! Many congratulations to you all. Xx
Congrats on your exhibition! I will definitely check out your friends' art and I love me a podcast!
I have been loving Calmtober! Even though I've only done a few prompts so far, it took all the stress away having them spaced out and the prompts to me are just so much more fun! I loved seeing your mixed media and the bunnies around the chair and blanket were to DIE for oh my goodness!! I love every video I've seen and I'm so happy to be here 💗🐇🍁🐈
thank you for you kind comment and for being here and watching my videos! Happy that they bring comfort to you!
Lovely to see all that beautiful work together! Great video! Thank you
Thank you Marie!
love the vibe..❤❤❤❤
thank you for watching! :)
Hi Kriksis, brillllllliant work as usual, thanks again for sharing 😊
Stay safe 💕
thank you so much Sandie!
You make it look so easy
aww thank you!
Calmtober! 😁 Loved listing to your video and that you were open about falling behind. My oldest sister is also doing Calmtober and I know she has fallen behind a little bit - knowing that you also struggled to keep up will make her feel that it is okay. Thank you for your motivation and being honest! :)
Thank you Irene! I am so happy to hear that she is doing calmtober and saw this video as well. We sometimes are deep in our thoughts about feeling bad about being late that we cannot enjoy challenge itself. Great to shift mindset a bit. All the best to you and your sister, thanks for being here!
🤗@@kriksis
I really like your color Palette ❤
thanks! :)
Calmtober🐦⬛ Your exhibition looked beautiful! I’m so happy to hear it was a success. I loved looking at all your drawings in your sketchbook, such a lot! I was wondering how many pictures do you usually make in a week?😊
thank you Jessica!
Calmoctober
thank you for watching!
nice 👍
thanks! :)
Calmtober 🍵. Thanks for this chilled out vlog. Lovely dogs at the end, too. What paint colour are you using for your paint sketches? Is it Random Grey?
Thank you Sonya! :) For sketches I am using mystery paint from Kwartz handmade watercolour. There was no name as I think it was experimental paint nr.8, I also use watercolour graphite pencil there -sometimes as dry form or adding water to it.
@@kriksis thank you! I love how that colour granulates, will have to check it out 😊
Hi! Loved your video and the exhibition looked so nice!
Question: where do you purchase your frames and mats? Really nice!
Thank you!
Thank you Yvonne! :)
I reused frames I already bought for exhibition I had in May. Frames are from shop called ''the Range'' in the UK.
What brand and style are your drawing pencils? Thank you! Enjoyed your Art !❤
Hi Kriksis, I’d love to buy a couple of your postcards - will you be listing them in your shop? 🤩
Thank you! Yes I will have new shop update on 15th of November and it will also include new postcard designs. :)
I forgot: CALMTOBER!!
yaay!
Your work is so pretty and tranquil. I like being inspired by artists. But I am hesitant to create my own illustrations because I'm not the kind of person who would want to be "out there" promoting, networking, and doing shows and all that. I am such a home body, almost a recluse, and the only way I might attempt it would be through selling my original graphics on sites like zazzle or spreadshirt and such. What do you think? Thank you.
Thank you for kind words! I think not every artist should be and want to be '' out there'' and sharing work in person etc. and that's totally fine. You do you and enjoy the journey. :) All the best to you,
Kriksis
@@kriksis Thanks very much, Kriksis. Best wishes from Pennsylvania.
First!
yaay! thanks for being here!
@@kriksis Always glad to be here!
Honestly I want to disagree with you to some extent this is just my opinion, but maybe you’re being modest about your work but you are so skilled, you don’t realise. Organic forms are difficult because they need to have a natural movement to them, and can look really stiff and awkward if you’re not skilled at it. Straight lines can use rulers. Perspective of a city scape just just know how to make a perspective grid. Animals are harder to draw because our anatomy is so much different. A horse with anatomy that it off looks weirder than a person because our brains more easily fill in the gap because it’s familiar with the anatomy.
Your art is stunning and very skilled. Don’t forget that!
Also, art school effs up a lot of thinking. I studied fine art at age 16. They tore stuff out of our sketchbook for being ‘too illustrative’. I didn’t know What I wanted to draw was called ‘illustration’. But they made me feel bad because it wasn’t as meaningful as ‘fine’ art and had no symbolism to it. But honestly, anyone can make an abstract blob out of a plastic bag and give it some bull connection to climate change. But knowing perspective, measurements, lighting, values, composition… that’s way harder.
Is your birthday on September? Would you mind to tell me the date?
Yes its 3rd of September :)
Calmtober. 🐕
Have just tound your UA-cam. I enjoyed ALL of this video 🥰The music was lovely and art show. I was like..NOOO dont take it all away!! I loved EVERYTHING and wanted it ALL! Looking forward to more of yoyr videos!❤️
