Watched your other video to see how to pull it apart and couldn't beleive how much gunk there was around the outlet area, no wonder it was leaking. So glad to see a close up look at the insides of my machine (I have the same as shown in this video). The first few months of using my new Nespresso machine, I knew nothing about rinsing or cleaning, and consequently the coffee oils and layers of dried espresso built up and clogged everything. After a major deep cleaning with brushes and rinses and cleaning capsules, seeing flakes and chunks of dried espresso coming out of the brewing chamber, I figured out that going forward, simply running a few clean water rinses through after every morning espresso - *until the water runs clear* - keeps the layers of espresso inside from drying and building up in the first place. For a diffuser plate to get so clogged as to require a wire poking through the diffuser holes to manually clear them - is a sign of ages of use with no rinsing or cleaning whatsoever. Nespresso instructions only tell you how to brew or descale - they never mention a thing about simply rinsing after each brew - so it's no wonder nobody suspects you need to do more to keep it clean and everyone ends up with clogged, coated breaking down machines.
Wow. That trick really works. The first time, I only cleaned it with a tooth brush which helped a little. (It went from a steam to a drip). But after removing the piece with the holes and cleaning each hole with a sturdy push-pin, the leak is gone. Thanks!

Hi Adrian, Thanks for your video's. I have a C-100 model Nespresso and the brew mechanism is just like you are holding in this video, I've cleaned the diffuser plate just as you discussed. However, I still have a leak from this brew chamber. Is there an "o-ring" in the C-100 brew mechanism? I removed the "silver cylinder" that holds the pods to try and see if there is in o ring behind this cylinder.....but I didn't see one? Also, is the silver cylinder that holds the pod suppose to be easy to be removed? maybe this should be "glued in place"? Thanks for any advice. Pete

It was too complicated to disassemble a 1st gen Nespresso, so I got a toothbrush, then a toothpick and carefully cleaned the spout. I was scared that I was poking the insides wrongly, but it worked!!! The toothpick unclogged whatever was blocking the flow. I was so ready to use my Karcher steam, but I didn't need to. Cleaning the spout did the trick! I'll probably clean it more with a thin needle and perhaps a steam cleaner tomorrow. Yay, now we have coffee tomorrow morning. Bless you!!!
Grrr.. I hate when things break unexpectedly. Mine got clogged after following the descaling tutorial, it was working well before that so I regret even starting that process. Now I have to disassemble lol 😅Thanks for the advise!
Hi Adrian, I have a Krups KN250 with broken nozzle, I fixed it thanks to your video. However it still dripping some water because I think some holes in the diffuser are clogged and then it overpressures. How can I remove this piercing plate or diffuser plate? I located two small clips from above and pushed them with a flat screwdriver, but it doesn't fall off. Hi Adrian, thank you for your very helpful videos! Do you have one that covers disassembly of machines that have a motorised brewhead mechanism rather than a manual handle to engage the head? Eg. machine "Magimix M130 Milk". Thanks
Thank you adrian for your very helpfull videos. I have a Nespresso Xn260 (Krups umilk) I am trying to reach the filter. Dissasambling my machine worked partly. I can't get the brewing mechanism out. I can't figure out how to do that. I want to reacht the diffuser plate. It was very dirty. Can you give me and advise on how to get out the diffuser plate without getting out the brewing mechanism. Or tell me how to get out the brewing mechanism. Thanks in advance!
Hello, thanks for the instruction. Do you have also a video on how to dissamble the magimix essenza mini and how to replace the brewing unit and or put a new o-ring? Thx
I suspect this decreases the pressure inside the machine. Therefore, if you make wholes larger than default - because the metal inside is so squishy - you decrease the pressure, say from 19 bars to 14 bars, the coffee will flow easily and machine would not leake. But in that case you sacrifice high-pressure coffee to some extent. If the mesh inside is just cloged with coffee, rust, etc. then ok, perhaps you won't decreese the pressure. But enlargening the wholes with pins, that is not recommended.
@@benassy69 there is very thin line between unclogging and expanding the holes because the metal area around the holes is made of very thin metal - this was a caution for those who clean. This video is anyways helpful, just a minor point for future tutorials. Cheers.
Hi Adrian, thanks for video but I’m not able to remove the diffuser plate from my C90 so I struggled with pushing a wire through each hole. However, when reassembling, the metal and plastic collar that fits over the mechanism that pushes the capsule into the diffuser, came off and when I was replacing the two pieces, the plastic collar snapped into two pieces. Any idea where I can buy the part?
Hi! Very helpfull your videos!Tthanks! My nespresso essensia have a similar issue. Don't punch out the upper side of the capsules. Do you have any idea to fix an issue like this.
Hello, Thanks for the video. it didnt solve my problem do you think there should be an O ring there to close the gap better? any other tipp maybe that you can suggest?
I am also wondering..if you dont use nespresso capsules ..but alternatives..it may not fit exactly hence the leak.. I am using the Starbucks pike place capsules because I like that flavour..but have these problems :! 😊
Hi, thank you for this video, I had identified the issue with the Essence mini Breville Nespresson coffee machine. I have. I did the cleaning just as you showed in this video. But…now it is worth, it just leaks a lot! Could you do a video with this particular machine please? Thank you so much
Hi Adrian! First of all, thank you very much for the videos, they are great! Could you tell me if there is a specific position to replace the diffuser plate? I did the entire procedure on my Nespresso Maestria, I cleaned all the micro holes, but now the machine does not pierce the capsules in the part that touches the diffuser plate (aluminum seal). I would be very grateful if you could help!
Hello . I have a video detailing exactly this issue. You have air în your System and the overall pressure does not reach the needed treshold unable tu punctare the alufoil. Take a look at that video for more detailes.
@@benassy69 Thank you, Adriano! would this be the video? ua-cam.com/video/vNyB3BVYuxg/v-deo.html I activated it several times without a capsule. And I descaled with vinegar. Unfortunately it still doesn't pierce the capsule. Is the diffuser plate in the right position or does it just fit until you hear the click? Thank you very much!
@benassy69 I'commented in another video a bit ago. Thanks for your instructive videos. While I still need to figure out what's wrong with my UD50, I was able to get the diffuser plate out and clean it. I just need to know why water is coming out behind it, directly into the used-pod bin. Cheers from the USA (via MDQ)
Hi Adrian, I've tried this fix and also cleaning the o-ring from your other video, but the machine keeps leaking from the part of the diffuser plate. I've poured a coffee with the machine half open and keeps leaking. It's only when I don't use a capsule at all that it doesn't leak.. any thoughts? thanks again for your help, your videos are great!
Hey Adrian, thanks for the channel !!! You are keeping world well caffeinated and alert. I have Gran Maestria machine. Tried your diffuser cleaning, descaling, and pump priming. Pods still not being punctured on the diffuser side. Any other recommendations before abandoning this machine? Thanks for any direction !!!!
Hi all, I also tried all the above, but still not perforating the front of the capsules. (In the meantime I’ve been perforating them before inserting in the machine, it kinda helps) Any idea how to check/fix the pump/knives? Adrian, your videos are great! Thanks for sharing them! :)
Hi Adrian. Great videos, Thank you. Have you ever worked on a Breville (Sage) Creatista Uno BNE500 BKS? Mine is leaking from the under the water tank after it has the tank has been correctly placed in position. So the tank doesn't leak but water floods out when it is placed in the hole meant for it. I am wondering if there is a way of clearing any blockage below the hole? Thanks Graeme.
Hello. Your problem is related to the water tank gasket. In that hole there of the machine where the water tank is inserted there is a gasket that got larger . You need to change it.
Hi @Adrian, I followed all these steps, grateful for this video indeed. However, no matter how I refit the disc, which is completely clean and clear (as is the mount it goes into) it still leaks. Any ideas, or is it a new machine at this point?
Hi, thanks a lot for the video! My machine is a Krups XN2107. I followed your instructions and I've managed to disassembly and clean the machine properly, but unfortunately it's still leaking water. The machine is very old now, around 15 years... before I change it, do you think there's anything else that I could try? Thank you!
Probably the o-ring if the diffuser is clean. Had the same problem on my machine where diffuser is clean but it leaked around the back of the pod near the o-ring.
Hi Adrian. I changed the brew unit for a new one. So complete new. Still I see water leaking. Do you have any idea how that is possible. And what I can do?
Hey thanks so much for the instructions! I took my delonghi apart yesterday and cleaned it out completely. It performs a lot better but it still leaks from the top of the cupholder, after making 2 cups of coffee in succession it pours out from under the lever. Is there maybe another seal in there or something that might be old? If you have any idea, you'd be my savior!
That the problem with my Nespresso Inissia, a lot of water flows out before the coffee is brewed. Do you have a video explaining how to disassemble the Inissia? Tks
The original nespresso capsules are not copyrighted BUT the filter gauze inside is and so is the silicon seal around the lip...non Nespresso(copy) capsules do not have either the gauze or sealing ring and that is another reason many non Nespresso capsuled do not function correctly..
I came to UA-cam to help me decide which Nespresso machine to buy just to get greater varieties, but after learning from all these videos what a high maintenance device they are, I am rethinking my decision to buy one. I think I will stick with my ever faithful Dolce Gusto which has never given me any trouble at all in over two years, knock wood. Although the choices of capsules are not quite as extensive, they are equally as delicious as the expressos served to me at friends' homes and they are both made by the same company, so why should I switch?
Hi Adrian, I have an xn110. I took the machine apart and removed the disc and cleaning it well and it worked!! However after a couple of cups of coffee it started leaking again exactly like before into the tray below. I don’t get it as I had cleaned the disc well as it was clogged. How can it happen again so soon? Maybe the disc can be replaced? Thanks for your help
I have Essenza mini leaking in the brew chamber. Top lever gets hot and water leaks behind cup into catch container below. I disassembled and cleaned disk as described, but problem is not resolved.
Hey there, love your videos, been watching a few but still haven’t found one that points me in the right direction on what the cause of my leaking machine could be. My delonghi inissia started leaking clear water from the bottom, I’ve done the descaling process and while doing it no one drop came out, only leaks when a capsule is present in the machine. Any ideas? Appreciate your help!!
A way to get the diffuser plate out without dissembling the machine is to carefully drill a hole to the right of the rubber plug and get access to the clip that way.
Hi, I have to replace my diffuser plate bacause I found it has been broken slightly from the center, but I can't find a new one from web. Can you give me some advice?
Great vid but unfortunately after my machine is still leaking from the top. Only when using a pod. Water shoots up from the top but i cleaned each tiny hole and the tap at the front. Any suggestions?
I wanted to ask you, if it is possible to take out and keep only the charger of the aeroccino (Citiz&Milk). I'm going to get another machine that doesn't make cold milk froth and I want to keep my aeroccino for making cold milk foam.
Hi. It is complicated to take out the fronter charger au of the stand. You will need to rework the cables and stuff. But what you can do is to search for a used aerrocinno stand on ebay and buy one. It is not that expensive and they should fit.
I have a Krups XN 8006. It leaks as indicated in your video. I bought a new brewing system (€25) and replaced the old one. Much to my surprise it leaks the same way. What to do?

Hello Adrian, I am working in a Repair Café and my specialty is coffee machines. Although several years of experience a repair not always is successful. A bisar problem has lead me to you and I hope that you are able to help. At the moment I have two Krups (Gran) Maestra XN8105 machines. Both were brought for repair because they were leaking inside the machines. In both cases I have replaced the brewing units and that stopped the leaking inside. However during the preparation of coffee water streams over the front side of the machine. I checked and cleaned the nozzles which helped a bit but still both machines are leaking. I have tested both machines with and without cups but the result is the same. Hope you have an idea. Piet
Some droplets of water inside the used capsule chamber și normal . Let's say 10 drops per cup. Is you have a stream of water during brewing then is not normal. Change the big oring.
Hello, do you have any idea why that diffuser plate doesn’s do those holes in the capsule so the coffee can get out? The capsule get only the 3 holes where the water comes in, but the square ones in front not anymore😢
Bună Andreea. The holes in front ar not perforated they are created by presure from the pump. In your case the pump is not providing enough presure to perforate the aluminium cap of the pod. You need to repair or change the pump.
@@benassy69 thank you for this reply. this is exactly the problem i now have with my nespresso essenza mini (the front does not have holes on diffuser side) . bummer. is the pump problem possible due to air in the pump? Thank you!!
Hello! Unfortunately I just broke the diffuser while following your tutorial. Do you know where I could buy this little piece? I cant find it on internet...

Hello Adrian, in your opinion which model is the one that is less likely to suffer from this problem, or is there a model with an easy to remove diffuser ? Or a diffuser that can be easily replaced ?

But enlargening the wholes with pins, that is not recommended.
By doing this you are not increasing the hole size only unclogging the holes filled with hardened caffee.
Hi Adrian, I want to clean de diffuser of my Sage Creatista Plus. Think this solves my leaking problem I think. You have also a video of that machine?
Hi! Very helpfull your videos!Tthanks! My nespresso essensia have a similar issue. Don't punch out the upper side of the capsules. Do you have any idea to fix an issue like this.
That is a pressure issue coming from the pump or the diffuser plate is clogged
Hello, Thanks for the video. it didnt solve my problem do you think there should be an O ring there to close the gap better? any other tipp maybe that you can suggest?
I am also wondering..if you dont use nespresso capsules ..but alternatives..it may not fit exactly hence the leak.. I am using the Starbucks pike place capsules because I like that flavour..but have these problems :!
😊
Great video, what about of the diffuser plate is not puncturing the capsule?
Means your pump is not delivering the right presure.
After brushing with a toothbrush, the problem was solved, thank you very much!
@@benassy69 Thank you, Adriano! would this be the video? ua-cam.com/video/vNyB3BVYuxg/v-deo.html
I activated it several times without a capsule.
I have exactly the same problem, apart of my machine leaking with capsule too.
1 the pump might be to weak or 2 the small knives inside the capsule chamber are bent.
i have this problem as well. it seems to have started after switching to an off brand capsule. Did you sort yours out? Does it work now?
Hi all, I also tried all the above, but still not perforating the front of the capsules. (In the meantime I’ve been perforating them before inserting in the machine, it kinda helps)
Any idea how to check/fix the pump/knives?
You need to change it.
just a question..
I took out the pyramid plate and i do not remember the right position for the 4 very little noses. Can you help?
Hi @Adrian, I followed all these steps, grateful for this video indeed. However, no matter how I refit the disc, which is completely clean and clear (as is the mount it goes into) it still leaks. Any ideas, or is it a new machine at this point?
Ar you using original nespresso pods or aftermarket?
@@benassy69It happens with both
This looks like what’s happening to my machine. Thank you!
This fixed my leaking Nespresso Mini. Thanks!
Brilliant! Best video on this subject!
Wow, thanks!
Thank you Adrian, I cleaned the same room as on your video, thanks to you I drink good coffee as I like. Thank you and be well.
Hello. Have You changed the big o-ring inside the brewing mecanism? I have a diffenet video in my channel showing how.
@@benassy69 Thank you so much! I will replace the o-ring asap, trying to find a suitable replacement!
Hi, do you fix the Sage Bean tocup batista coffee machine that hit water and steam ut is not working ?
Amazing!! Thank you ! Fixed my machine
That the problem with my Nespresso Inissia, a lot of water flows out before the coffee is brewed. Do you have a video explaining how to disassemble the Inissia? Tks
Yes I have. Take a look on my channel.
YOU ARE A HERO!!
Thanks for your sharing
I agree, best video on the subject.
The original nespresso capsules are not copyrighted BUT the filter gauze inside is and so is the silicon seal around the lip...non Nespresso(copy) capsules do not have either the gauze or sealing ring and that is another reason many non Nespresso capsuled do not function correctly..
Awesome video man, thanks!!
Thank you Adrian, great tips!
High maintenance?? Hahahaha go buy a real espresso machine to know what high maintenance means
Hello ....you need to change the orign also.
Hello, I have the same problem, were you able to fix the problem?
Try changing the Oring
do you know how to repair a leak on a espresso and coffee barista system? It is brand new
Thanks a million, Adrian, it worked like a charm!
A way to get the diffuser plate out without dissembling the machine is to carefully drill a hole to the right of the rubber plug and get access to the clip that way.
Hi, did you ever repair a EN750.MB Lattissima Pro? It's the pump pressure?
I did not repair this model but other Lattissima variants. I also have some videos on my Chanel.
Hi, I have to replace my diffuser plate bacause I found it has been broken slightly from the center, but I can't find a new one from web. Can you give me some advice?
Thank you Adrian. Great video
Great vid but unfortunately after my machine is still leaking from the top. Only when using a pod. Water shoots up from the top but i cleaned each tiny hole and the tap at the front. Any suggestions?
I have the same issue.
Any chance to show how to get at the diffuser plate in a Delonghi EN85B machine in order to unclog it please? 🙏
That is the newer model and don't have it yet in my shop. Once I get my hands on one of them I will make a video.
@@benassy69 Thank you!
I have a Krups XN 8006. It leaks as indicated in your video. I bought a new brewing system (€25) and replaced the old one. Much to my surprise it leaks the same way. What to do?
Sad to hear that. Where exactly the leak originates can you identify the place?
@@benassy69 It leaks on the front side of the waste bucket. I can not determine on which side of the cup it leaks. The "old" brewing system shows no evidence of leaking (but it leaks the same way).
Thanks for sharing your knowledge!
Salut Adrian. Eu am o problemă cu clapa de închidere nu mai stă închisă după ce se adaugă capsula trebuie să țin de ea ca să fac o cafea. Aparatul este tip Nespresso, marca blokker
Aștept un videoclip dacă se poate
Fabulous! Just fabulous!! Thank you!!
@@benassy69 it is indeed a stream of water. The brewing unit is new so including the o-ring.Any other suggestion?
Inside the brewing mechanism there is a big spring that pushes on the capsule. Try pulling a little bit on it to make it bigger.
@@benassy69 Thanks, I will try.
Question: what the correct plate orientation while putting it back?
Found it.
The plate has a notch along its perimeter, align this either top or bottom.
Didn't work in my case. Cleaned the difusor plate, then with a needle as you did, but ot still leaks from that gap.
@@benassy69 thank you for this reply. this is exactly the problem i now have with my nespresso essenza mini (the front does not have holes on diffuser side)
. bummer. is the pump problem possible due to air in the pump? Thank you!!
I have a problem with the Delonghi Nespresso Citiz EN 167, when I insert the capsule it first ejects water and only then coffee
How to go inside and clean the clogged filter on a Nespresso Type C123 ?
Hope this will work on my old D111 so I do not need to throw it away, thank you for the tip.
Thanks for sharing this video!
Hello, i did everything but it is still leaking water if capsule is inside. If there is not capsule then there is no leak. Any ideas?
Hello!
Unfortunately I just broke the diffuser while following your tutorial. Do you know where I could buy this little piece? I cant find it on internet...
Your best bet might be to buy another broken machine that failed for a different reason, and pirate the part from that. I've successfully done this to source a replacement pump for a coffee machine.
Hello Adrian, in your opinion which model is the one that is less likely to suffer from this problem, or is there a model with an easy to remove diffuser ? Or a diffuser that can be easily replaced ?
Unfortunately no. All units have this issue. The model that I find easier to clean is Nespresso Citiz.
@@benassy69 indeed. I wish there was a model with a sort of plug and play diffuser component
I get water leaking from my machine, but also get coffee granules going into the cup. When I eject the pod, I find that the foil has ripped on the pod
