- Hello guys
In This video I will show you how to resolve one of the most common problems with Nespresso machine leakage. It is necessary to change an O-ring which to be honest is not so easy to do. Therefore I decide to share with you the guide to do it. Enjoy!

Thanks for sharing your knowledge - it's awesome to have someone repair things and not throw them away. Your videos are so easy to follow. Thank you
Thanks Mr.Adrian. I got this machine one week ago. Now i know how to DISASSEMBLY the machine. Thanks to you..
Manufacturer: How overly complicated do you want disassembling your machine to be?
Nespresso: Yes
:)))
Exactly what I thought, I had a Tassimo before, and disassembly was a breeze
My Nespresso is old, but still works and just leaks. Your videos have prevented it from being landfill.
Great video. Couldn't have opened the machine without it. Thanks for posting!
Finally a decent video of reassembly! Thank you so much!
There are two o-rings. This one behind the pod, the dimensions for this o-ring is 31.5mm (inside diameter) x 3mm. There is another tiny o-ring inside the boiler unit. The plastic and metal parts can be separated by twisting clockwise (it requires some force). Inside is a black cone with a small o-ring on top. The dimensions of this one is 5mm (inside diameter) x 2mm.
Hi Ben. I know I had encountered a couple of times this issue with the small oring behind the boiler. I noticed that if the small oring is the issue is usually water present in the pump chamber and a lot of limescale on the external wall of the boiler. The big problem is that the boiler is extremely hard to remove from the plastic housing in order to have access to the oring and change it.
Yes exactly. I actually found the plastic on mine quite easy to remove, it was like a bayonet lightbulb fixing. I just griped the boiler with gloves and gave a little twist clockwise. It was about the only easy thing on this bloody job so far! I hate it when manufacturers just clip stuff together like this. Thanks for your videos though, they were very helpful in my moment of need!
Hi Ben, which one should be replaced if the water is coming out where the used pods fall? In stead of coming out the spout?
@@elineweg2452 Hi Eline, I'm not sure I understand where the water is coming out? For me the water was leaking between the plastic and the boiler. I tried replacing o-rings and that didn't work. I ended up replacing the whole boiler unit (which cost about £27). Finally, this fixed it for me. This has been the most painful repair I have ever done!
@@oldskoolflash1 Ohhh okay then it is a different issue. With me the water falls into that black container that collects the pods afterwards.
Bravo Adrian. Un video explicit pentru tot mapamondul. Respect
Excellent, would not have stood a chance without this, many thanks
Very detailed, clear and professional! Thank you!
Thanks for this, took my own machine apart last night and (hopefully) have the correct size of O-Ring arriving today from Amazon! That was one hell of a job to disassemble - I'd never have been able to manage it without your easy-paced video!
I can't quite believe it, but it worked! First set of o-rings I got from Amazon were obviously too thin, so got the right one off ebay. One point I found tricky was putting the nozzle bit back onto the springs - I thought I had it on, but it wouldn't compress and I took it off and did it again .... apart from that, re-assembly is quite simple. Thanks again!
can you please share the ebay link or the dimensions of the ring? Thank you!@@hardwaresecuritymodule
@cristinademeo2727 I have a video on my channel addresing exactly this.
Thanks Adrian for the tutorials. I have an Esenza Mini. When I insert the capsule and turn on the machine, the hot water comes out of the opening of the capsule. It should be noted that the front part with the holes is clean. Any idea what the problem is?
Thanks from Brazil my friend!
Learned quite alot with you.
Great job!
Best regards!
That was very insightful. I've repaired my machine, using your instructions, thanks you
Amazing. Now I will try to do all of this with my coffee machine. Thanks.
Was going to buy a new machine and this video saved me 70€.

Muito bom trabalho consegui arranjar a minha máquina graças à sua boa e profissional explicação...muito obrigado. Bom trabalho.
Excellent video mate. Thanks.
Please can you tell me if there is a component that the nylon pin with the small spring fits into? Does it just fit into the star shaped aperture in the heater unit or is there a piece that I am missing?
Hopefully not!
Thanks a lot for this very helpful tutorial. Lots of weird plastic sounds. But at the end, this evil machine works like a charm now. Cheers m8!
Grazie per il video, assolutamente di aiuto, sei veramente bravo, buon lavoro.
Very very informative video, all the trick and tip explain in every steps, good job!, subscribed!
Hello Adrian! Where can i find a replacement O-ring from inside the brewing mecanism of a Citiz & Milk?? Thanks!
Thanks for the magnificent video. I had already disassembled the coffee maker on a previous occasion (it has been so long ago that I no longer remember the fault although I was able to fix it) But this time, due to a water leak, I was not able to get to the problem until I found your video, detailed and efficient. The pity is that it still leaks slightly after changing the O-ring. I have already read in the comments that there is another small O-ring on the boiler. Now I don't know if I'll try it again. The truth is that I don't use it much. The repair was rather a challenge. Thank you anyway.
I write from Spain with the help of Google Translate. I'm sorry if there are errors.
Thanks a lot, very clearly explained.
Thank you, your video was very helpful, I have to do exactly the same with my Nesspresso.
Thanks for sharing, it helped me a lot!
I solved the water problem myself of my Le cube machine thanks to your video.
Its an old machine but good quality,,the next problem is now,,one of the buttom doesn t work but light is still working
How can repair (the water problem)
Hi Adrian bought some types of seals from china and world fluids, I was wondering what type of piston o ring you use?

My Inissia leaks a lot from the spout (nozzle) where the coffee comes from. Any idea if it's fixable?
It is normal to leak some drops after you finish the brew. It's actually cleaning the pod chamber.
Merci, grâce à vos instructions, j'ai reussi en quelques minutes à ouvrir la machine.
C'est vrai qu'il ne faut pas hésiter à forcer un peu, ça ne casse pas.

Hello Adrian.
Really great video. Can you please advise what size oring you used? Is it std nitrile or silicone....thanks
Where did you purchase your parts from? I am looking for a CITIZ auto primer…
Mine (same as your model) has a low caudal of water. It does not look like is spilling out water. Just a weak stream. I tried to clean the capsule hole with a toothbrush and apparently got a little better but still not right. How could I fix it?

hi thanks for the vid i replace the O ring 31/37/3 and i have still the same leak any idee ?
Hi Adrian, many thanks for the detailed repair procedure. Excellent work! What are the exact O-rind dimensions to purchase before attempting to repair? Internal diameter and thickness?
Thanks for a very good video, do you have a video for Krups nx250 o ring replacement?
You know those very brittle clips you mentioned? ... Which part should I order if one of them snapped?
Consegui salvar mais uma maquina graças a sua ajuda, muito bom seu video. Muito obrigado
Excelente!👍🙏👏👏👏👏
Thank you.. soooo much.
O vídeo muito explicativo.
Muito bom, me ajudou muito 👍
Would be helpful to give the size etc. on the O ring(s) so we can try to find them. Also Metric or Inch
Does anyone know where to find a tutorial for same problem for the Nespresso Essenza Mini
thank you so much bro 👍
Hi, Thanks for the video, i managed to follow the instructions but the O ring was in great condition. We then tried the machine without the trays in place and surprisingly all was good. The leak happens when pulling the handle to discard the old pod, that's when a ton of water comes out (well, about 10 or 15 mls). Any idea on the issue, maybe as we are not using proper nespresso pods, we are using compostable?
It is normal to have residual water in the pot chamber. If you don't have any leaks during the brewing process than it is not a problem with the machine. Could be from the pods itself.
What are you guys using to wash the parts? I submerged everything in warm water with dishwasher detergent and brushed with an old toothbrush but still some areas are dirty. How about vinegar? Anyone tried it? Thanks!
Great video HOWEVER, o rings out of there are made of (often) unspecified materials that may not be safe for food contact. Silicone is typically the best choice but all I can find is either Nitrile or fluorocarbon rubber. Krups has done an amazing job in preventing repair shops or dyis to find small parts so I have no idea what material the original o-ring is made of.
Fantastic video, thanks. How often do I need to replace the o rings if I use 2 pods a day?
Maybe in 2 years from now...
good job!!!!!
Bonjour le joint ou je peux le trouver sur le net j'ai trouvé 42mm celui-là il fait 37mm je trouve pas
Thank you man
where do you buy/get the parts?
Dear Adrian, thank you for all your excellent videos. Ik want to know WHERE you can buy the O-rings for the nespresso machines (stop leaking), thank you Edward (netherlands)
Hello Edward, thank you. In some countries you can find it on Amazon but to be sure you can find it on ebay. Search for Nespresso oring on ebay sould be a 38 mm oring.
ขอบคุณครับ
You are very strong 👏
😆
After following your video to replace the o ring my machine won't stop flashing the lights I can't do anything. Any idea on what's wrong? Was working fine before
Take a look if you fitted the buttons correctly. Sounds like a always pushed button.
Very good! I will save my machine and the planet... but where to find the o-ring? Thank you for your video. Very clear.
Hi. You can find it on ebay. Search for Nespresso oring. It should have 38mm outer diameter. And 3 mm thick.
I just bought a new one from Nespresso and a fair bit of water winds up in the tray with each coffee. The recycling company has already picked up the cardboard box and packing material so it would be a pain to ship it anywhere but this seems quite annoying to replace the O rings myself. Thanks for the video though.
Hey! Love that you uploaded this video. I followed it exactly and everything worked exactly as you showed and I replaced the o-ring. But it leaks more now than it did before, this time a new leak from the water tank junction. What might have happened for me to mess this up? It didn't leak from there before!
Hi. You might have positioned the water tank sear faulty or a joint is not correctly set. Try reposition it correctly
@@benassy69 can you post a picture of rust it's supposed to look like? I'm worried I might be missing a part
My leak is coming from under the machine. Water is hot and it does fill 1/2 cup, but takes almost 3\4 of tank to do so. I am not sure if it's a ring or something else. Do you think it's fixable?
You have a clogged diffuser plate. I have a video on how to address this issue

Hi Adrian. Perhaps you can help with my problem. My INissia works fine, but the lever has started to jump up once the pump is working. The only way to have it work is to press down and force the lever to stay down. The lever does not open when there is no capsule in the machine and the pump is working. Any insight you can give me? Thank you very much.
Hi I only imagine that your brewing mechanism is worn out and it does snap shut one a capsule is inserted. You have to open it and see what joint is causing this. It is not a usual problem of this units.
@@benassy69 Thank you very much. From what I saw, bend the basket for used capsules, there should be a unit that snaps in and serves as a lock to the lever. I'll try to take it out. Can I find a replacement in the market?
Yes. You can buy the full brewing head but is somehow expensive for what it is. You can search instead for a defective unit and just swap it.
@@benassy69 Thanks. I'll pursue this.
Replaced the oring to a new one 32x38 but it still leaking water into the drip tray quite heavily, no change to prior seal. any ideas? :)
Clean it
Change the small o-ring in the boiler chamber area.
The size of the original o-ring please... Inside, diameter, if you can. 31.5mm (inside diameter) x 3mm it is good ? Thanks a lot
Hello. ~34 mm interior diameter. 3mm thickness.
@@benassy69 Thanks a lot
Very good tutorial, thank you very much. Could you tell me the size of the o-ring? Or the link where to buy it. Best regards
Hello. ~34 mm interior diameter. 3mm thickness.
@@benassy69Thank you very much for the reply. I was able to disassemble the piston and I measured the rubber gasket and it gave me an external diameter of 37mm and a section of 3mm, from which it can be deduced that the internal diameter should be 31mm?? You leave me in doubt. No problem, and thank you very much because I have learned a lot from your tutorials.
I don't know what size buying too
Where did you find the correct O ring which is actually shaped as a D ring? Having trouble finding this.
Me too
Hi, if you break one of the clips holding the o ring what can you do? Any ideas?
I have broken the two clips... Can it be fixed or I just have to buy a new machine?
I have a question for Adrian and Ben. My unit leaks from the bottom when I have a pod in place and try to brew. It does not leak when in descaling mode or if I run the unit without a pod inserted. I did buy a new O-ring (the one you show in the video Adrian), but it didn't solve the problem. Any ideas?
I think you have a problem with a small oring located in the heater. I intend to make a video with all leaking locations.
@@benassy69 thanks for the quick reply. Any idea when you will post it or should I just search your name in UA-cam ?
I intend to do it next week. Subscribe to my channel to be notified once I post the new video.
@@benassy69 I have the exact same situation, when I run the machine without a capsule, it doesn't leak, but if I do after installing the capsule it starts leaking. So my question is that, is it easier to change this small o-ring ? If yes I would like to try that solution first :)
In my opinion is the most complicated oring to change in the entire unit. You have to completly disaasamble the unit. Next week I intend to film a video with all leaking location and how to fix them and this one will be amongst them.
where can I buy de O-ring?
Thank you so much Adrian , but where I can buy those o rings ?
Take a look on my last video on the channel.

Many many thx Adrián for your video!

Hi Giulio. I have a video on how to disaasamble and clean/ repair the pump.
@@benassy69 In your Channel I see only a video for pump repair but for another model of Nespresso 😞
The pumps are the same for all coffee machines regardless of the brand.
@@benassy69 Thanks for the information. I can update you on my machine: unfortunately the water leak from underneath is still present and I can tell you what the problem could be with this. One of the two plastic hooks that hold the piston hardens with the heat not allowing the piston to remain attached to the base as it should, for this reason the gasket descends favoring the escape of the water. The plastic hooks become very delicate having hardened so much that it is easy to break them.

Mulțumesc for another great video, Adrian.
Beyond the O-ring, my Magimix machine has a flat metal ring, which appears to be broken. Can that also cause leakage? Can share pics if required.
That metal plat ring is purely decorative. The capsule make a tight seal on the flat surface on which the aluminium foil is placed. Make sure you use original pods aftermarket ones are leaking du e to lack of a silicone seal. Take a look on one of my Last videos where I explain this....
@@benassy69thanks, Adrian. I’ll ignore the metal ring and buy the O-ring and replace it. Hope it solves the leakage.

Where are you located?

Yes. Try to inject vinegar inside and let the reaction clean the limescale.
