Thanks for helping educate us. I have heard Ron Krauss talk about why the higher ApoB number (directly correlating to the number of particles) and the background to it is related to the reduced ability of the smaller LDL particles to bind to liver cells to deliver their remaining contents into those cells. This results in the small particles being in circulation longer and thereby continuing to expose the arteries to potential damage. Any thoughts?

My doctor tried to put me on a statin. My markers LP(a) 9 very low risk. Triglycerides to HDL 59% very low risk. Apo B to Apo A1 48% very low risk. LDL-C of 282 on my very low carb diet. BMI 22.

My ratio is 0.85 , my tri 0.89. Hdl. 2.47. Ldl 9.5 I'm carnivor/ keto. How to fix it? Is this the same as oxidated ldl ?

Just to be clear, LDL and VLDL are not measured in standard lipid profiles. They are calculated using one of two equations: either the Friedewald or the Iranian. The accuracy of the calculated results declines when a person has high HDL and low triglycerides, both of which are actually measured in a standard lipid profile. The only way to get real LDL and VLDL values is with actual scientific tests that measure them. You would need to ask for that.

Dietary fat does not go to the liver, therefore is not involved with LDL, which arises from VLDL, which I’d synthesised in the liver….de novo lipogenesis, using( amongst other things) excess dietary glucose..ie carbohydrate!

Apo A1 good, Apo B bad.

    • @Cenot4ph
      @Cenot4ph 2 роки тому +1

basically, high LDL is fine but if you eat to much food that creates glucose in the body you will develop oxidized variants of LDL and that's definitely not good

Dr Ford plz explain to me what I found on wikipedia "Factors affecting apo A1 activityEdit
Apo A1 production is decreased by calcitriol, and increased by a drug that antagonizes it.[32]
Exercise or statin treatment may cause an increase in HDL-C levels by inducing apo A1 production, but this depends on the G/A promoter polymorphism.[33]"
Does this mean that vitamin D can reduce apoa1 synthesis? Means it affects atherosclerosis negatively

Thanks for sharing. Could you please kindly do another video and explain why LDL is bad on low carb Ketogenic/ Carnivore diet?
If one runs on fat for energy, doesn't it make sense to have more LDL particles to shuttle that fat/TG in the body? I thought that LDL is considered the 'bad' guy only when oxidized...
    Thank you.

Actually that is an old video. I don’t think LDL is so bad now, especially on a low carb diet.

@@PrevMedHealth Thank you! Do you also think that a high apoB/A1 ratio is not that bad on a low carb diet?
Background: I've been doing keto for over 6 years with avg apoB/A1 ratio of 0.5 - low. Switched to carnivore in the past 6 months and the ratio jumped to 1.4 (238/174) - high and quite alarming.
OxLDL and TG are still very low, with high HDL 82. Curious to know what could possibly be the reason(s) for that significant increase in ratio.
Averaging 300g of fat per day on each diet, the only reason I can think of would be the type of fats consumed on each diet. From mono/poly and saturated, to saturated only (animal products). Would very much appreciate your opinion on this. Thanks again.
Fyi, I'm back on Keto for now :)

@@haimeliyahu1 Vitamin C, E, and B9 are acquired from organ meats, shellfish, some fish. If you go full carnivore while neglecting those nutrients, things might happen.

Since I started the keto it went up. I also lost about 7 kgs in 2 months and my sugar is from 125 to 100. HDL went from 40 to 50 and also triglyceride went from 98 to 68. I saw in some other videos it is normal. I just wanted to make sure I don't have the pattern b LDL. I am not sure what is the correct test for it. But the tg/hdl ratio is 1.36. what is your opinion doctor? Thank you.
