Thanks for that version of All the things you are, a not overloaded version from the middle period. I like it very much and didn't have it. What a perfect technique in all pieces...those crystal clear runs!!
Just outstanding,this is prime Tatum,the stride pieces could be played by knowone else and the ballads are beautifully played.while Tatum had some arranging going on each and every piece is also improvised on,which I find fascinating. This is a treasure,not only did he have a piano technique never!ever equalled in jazz,and rarely even in classical piano ,but his harmony and creativity are threw the roof. And the touch ,I've heard people compared to him ,and I just laugh.. why,,, because if they approach him in the right hand ,they can't in the left hand,or if they approach him in the left hand,they don't have the right hand, believe me this is a true unequalled genius..
I recently saw a concert pianist who played Tatum's rendition of tea for two, which was great, but it's just one star in the galaxy of this man's staggering talent. It just seems he can go on and on at astounding us.
That Art Tatum is on another level from any other Jazz Pianist is without dispute. Here is yet another keyboard shredded and burnt to a crisp by the master. Nothing left of a piano after Tatum is through but burnt wood and smoldering keys. RIP GOAT
Oscar Peterson may have swung harder, and more enjoyably, but Tatum, as an unerring machine, playing anything at the highest speed deemed by the player as acceptable to the audience, without difficulty, well that's what he was. He was a born savant.

It doesn't really matter that much if they're wrong, Tatum and Bud Powell are my favorite pianists and I'd be inclined to disagree that Oscar Peterson swung harder or that Tatum's playing is machinic but it really doesn't matter if someone sees the matter that way because I can see why they would. It's a very subjective matter of perception and perspective. Sometimes people get excited about something and develop their own ideas about it and want to share them, and people like you who try to shut down this form of expression while adding nothing is to devalue one perspective for the sake of bolstering oneself, you have really done nothing but tried to validate your own insecurities by pushing them onto a UA-cam comment about Art Tatum. Art really doesn't need you to defend him, you're not the arbiter of his music. You have said absolutely nothing of value and have only given me something to contemplate regarding the function of elitism in music. I do hope the person you replied to will see this and feel affirmed that they do not need to always have the "right opinion". Stop wasting your energy shaming people for things that don't matter, for your own sake.

Wich version??there's one with big intro that is impossibile to play at the same speed. Huja Wang played live with mediocrity the easiest version.
