My favorite "Headcanon" on the Human factions in Stellaris, is that in the years before the attack on Europa-7, the UNE and CoM were in a sort of 'cold war', with border skirmishes or disputes over resources. But when the Gamma Aliens destroyed Europa-7, the CoM, seeing the assault on their fellow man, came to the aide of the UNE, setting aside their isolationist policies and distrust for foreign powers to stand side-by-side with UNE forces to defend Earth and her colonies, and, in the face of the Gamma threat, revealed a super weapon of their own. I like to imagine that the last voice in the Apocalypse trailer, is a CoM leader, making an address across all of human space, to justify the unleashing of a planet-killer against the Gamma Aliens' own worlds. The potential for future drama or conflict between the CoM and the UNE in the face of such brutal retribution would make an exciting story!
I have, in the past, as COM, launched counter attacks on empires that are openly hostile and try to bully / conquer the UNE. The way is see it: ain’t no one conquering the UNE; but the COM; and the UNE is too important to be conquered.

thats my head canon too, but with a fantasy of the UNE getting absolutely demolished in a space battle and the COM just dropping in as complete badasses with something along the lines of "we know that we are not on the best of terms, but not inviting us to the party is just bad manners, brace yourself brothers and sisters, we will be talking about this one for a long time" playing over all the frequencies before the COM fleet just dives into the thickest part of the battle... the aftermath in my head canon is that they have a celebration and it brings the two closer together, but while the admirals and officers are super cool with each other and becoming fast friends it is the governments at home that make friendship between the empires impossible due to both being stubborn turds, also using a planet killer made the UNE try to sanction the COM and faced huge backlash from their own people for it

The part I like a lot in Stellaris is the one when previous Custom Races you played spawn in the Galaxy. Its nice to see the "Avian Ascendancy" or the "Vulcan High Command" showing up
My first playthrough in Stellaris I created a mammalian Fox race that was a Trade League and rushed tech/trade, I also was able to secure the galactic trade market. Near my starting system there was a pre-FTL civilization in a system called Sol, I realized that it was humanity and decided to be very protective of them and planed to build them up as a buffer state. They were already in the modern era when I reviled my presence and then waited for the culture shock to go away. In the mean time I built up the surrounding solar systems around them and all the starports to the current max I had, when they were ready to become a FTL civ with a request for the starport to be given to them I accepted and then released all the systems I built from them so they had a decent Empire to start with. Went into a defensive pack while I worked on building a federation together for the crisis end war, I named it the Outer Rim Alliance because we were both located at the most northern west corner hugging the edge of the map. We built up a good fleet independently and the federation fleet was actually pretty solid, our allies were fairly smaller and weaker but we united against the big Empires for survival. We were able to push back the crisis but with many losses in ships, thank God my economy allowed me to spam federation ships. I got in 3rd place and the AI human Empire got like 10th or something like that but was still impressive for a Pre-FTL to reach that high.
I am hoping that if you play the UN in the new first contact background where you defend Earth, then you can spawn both the Broken Shackles *and* the Commonwealth. That would be a really interesting playthrough. Three human empires, all with differing ethics and views on the galaxy. Who takes the lead?
@The Red King you can pick your starting species in Broken Shackles, but if you choose either that or Payback(remembered the name), then it will spawn the one you didn't choose somewhere in the galaxy.
The new human portraits were kinda jarring at first, but I’ve grown to genuinely love them. I left the UNE as the updated models, and left the COM as the old models. The visual difference between the two is striking, and really hits home that the COM is different than the UNE.
Stellaris needs to add a campaign mode that just sets the game to the map they use in the trailers with all the empires in it. Could have three game modes where one is just the regular game state, the second is shortly before Europa goes boom, the third could be after it went boom but in the middle of the war.
hey red king, could you try making stories out of your stellaris gameplays? I'd love to see you making and sharing stories from your stellaris gameplays.
mmm maybe - let's plays are a very different style of content to deliver, remember these stories are entirely scripted it would be quite different to do it on the fly
UNE : Hello, we're human bringing peace ! Commonwealth : Hello, we're also human, but we're Xenophobic, would you like to be a Xenophobic too ? UNE : WTF ?!
They are like 250.000, which means the aliens only outnumber them 10 to 1, while they are 1000 years ahead of tech at the very least. Each colonist just need to go out, breathe some air, shoot 10 aliens and call it a day.
Due to the sheer number of colonists, a police force with weapons would obviously need to exist to prevent conflict between colonists. So obviously there would be weapons.
If there'd be a tier list of stellaris UA-camrs, i think you'd be in S tier along with Montu >.> Other than that, great video, it's cool listening to you packing up a certain, curious topic or event chain in a video :)
So I made a custom human empire and accidentally made a pre schism version of mankind who had to deal with earth's catastrophic destruction before splintering. They were doomsday eager explorers and technocrats. The way I saw it the xenophobe ethic was proto comonwealth that unified humanity to encourage population growth and expansion across the galaxy, proto une was the egalitarian democracy aspect that allowed humanity to unify and build the traditions nessecary to encourage curiosity (discovery) and adaptability (for reapropriation and free evac), and finally the proto custodianship was reflected in the materialism and civics reflecting the scientific rush to get off a dying world at whatever cost.
The horrifying thing was how well it worked as a dystopian nightmare state once it got established the xenophobes took over as the dominant political party and schismed into isolationist and supremesist this made them slavers to any pre ftls in thier borders and fiercely defensive of those borders to any gal civ beyond them but also very willing to share tech in order to advance thier own base and eventually surpass those nieghbors and sell them on vasalizations. Eventually you had a core of sythetic men ruling over the organic xenos masses kept in perpetual debt to the state by a combo of indentured servitude and social welfare and with acedemic privillage and a thin facade of egalitarianism the synth governers maintained stability among the xenos as they crafted the synthetic bodies of thier opressors. It was a very sick corruption of the custodianship.
Ahhhhh this new timeline! I remember one where the 6 colony ships were sent to the stars via a naturally occuring wormhole. And that one could use other types of FTL… :D
@@TheRedKing I'm pretty sure hyperlanes always exlisted. From what I remember at release you could choose between one of three FTL systwms and one of three weapon types. The weapon types were eventually all made starting tech while the wormhole generator and warp drive FTL was removed from the game. From what I remember wormhole FTL basically let you deploy anywhere you wanted to within a certain range of a wormhole generator station, and warp drive let you travel from any one point to any other at a relatively slow speed. Hyperdrive worked basically the same as it does now. There were no natural wormholes at the time. The Commonwealth started out with wormhole tech, which is why it shows their ships entering a wormhole that then vanishes in the Utopia trailer.
Appreciated content! I play as an edited version of the Commonwealth which has the same event templates despite changing the origin to Overtuned. It's based on the Star Trek story of the Augments and Khan.
I prefer the Commonwealth, but usually I create a post XCOM 2 Human civilization. I also try a level headed diplomacy, but always end cosplaying the Imperium of Man by purging all Xenos.
Whenever i play as the commonwealth of man, i always make a huge effort to befriend the united nations of earth, while aslo maintaining a militaristic government. This inevitably leads to them not liking me, but it just seems right for role plays sake

Ah, the battle of Europa-7. I feel that might have gone a bit better if the UNE had remembered to mount any guns on their battleships. (The original cinematic had the UNE ships with visibly empty dorsal hardpoints, it was silly.)
„As expected from our brothers and sister of the UNE. They are weak in mind and spirit, poisened by their egalitarian beliefs of universal rights, peace and shared destiny with the Alien. They didn‘t even bother to properly outfit their fighters with defense weapons! We know better! And we will teach them after we dealt with the Gamma Menace for them.“ - the COM, propably
If I were The Commonwealth of Man I would refrain from entering the war between the UNoM and The Gamma. It's best that the UNoM realize what the CoM learned long ago. Assume hostility. Strike first and effectively.
I'll admit that pledge was spine chilling. While I have little faith in the current UN, the idea that humanity could one day come together as a species and even extend that same unity toward alien life is a beautiful one and an ideal to strive for.
been binging these videos, they're absolutely great. Are you able to do more ground-combat based lore videos? The ones you did on the prethorians were pretty cool. Thanks for the great content!
Do a continuation of the UNE and COM. I don't mind guesswork since we don't get an actual storyline from the game itself and you know your stuff. You've already done all the lore videos, so make some lore: maybe the UNE find the Cybren and fight the Contingency while across the galaxy the COM is fighting the Scourge.
it would be nice if une and thc had more interactions between them depending on how each one is fairing. like u could have commonwelthian humans getting refuge on earth or terran citizens escaping a poluted earth to seek refuge on the relatively clean commonwelthian worlds. those two i think should have the sort of interactions those with afraid of the dark origin have but maybe a bit more fleshed out. You could have scientists spies and and factions having sympathies for the other nation and even working or giving them more influence or resources than they actually give you.
Does the Earth Custodianship has an official lore as well? I often think that when the parallel universe event shows up it should be either the Earth Custodianship or the UNE in the recieving end (when you play with one or the other). Just to give EC a more present place in the lore and such
@@TheRedKing Perhaps a generalized video covering the concept of alternate timelines? Earth Custonianship, Human Ancients, and that one event where a "Beta" version of your homeworld is created? The former could even just be footnote additions to a larger "Unity Beta" story.
My custom Earth Humans are called the United Terran Social Megatrust and it's like a middle ground between these two. More like a Star Trek style egalitarian federation focused on individual liberty and a state apparatus that provides for all basic needs. Heavy emphasis on science and exploration.
When I got this Game, I decided to create my own Human Factions, first was a Egalitarian, Materialist, Militarist Empire called the Brickcraft Citizens Alliance, the Brickcraft Confederacy another which was a Xenophile Empire, and the Brickcraft Corporation, (the Corporation was created before the Megacorp DLC was announced) This was back when Democratic Governments gave you influence if you do a Ruler Mandate, and Corprate Dominion was a civic you could pick if you have the Oligarchic Government type.
Back when the game first came out, my very first round of Stellaris was played out as the COM. I had just been getting into 40k and Planetside at the time lol. The UNE was halfway across the galaxy and definitely not friendly. The distance between us kept things cold but cordial. This all changed, however, when a rift to the Shroud opened up overtop of Earth. The Unbidden came spilling through and before anyone could figure out what was happening… the people of Earth were snuffed out. Genuinely felt like a turn of events that could’ve been written about in a book or movie. Soon that entire section of the galaxy was quiet. The fight quickly turned from a crusade for retribution against the alien threat to a desperate battle for survival. Nothing has really compared since to the thrill I felt seeing my fleets finally retake Sol after decades of warfare and one final gambit to close that damned portal. Well. There was that time the Prethoryns glitched out and stacked millions upon millions of fleet power to protect their queen’s corpse. That was moreso ridiculous than cinematic, though.
2:12 technically there are 196 nations recognised by the UN, but only 193 members. The 3 who are recognised but not members. Are The Vatican, Palestine, and Taiwan.
I’ve never played stellaris before(is it PC only? Or can I get it on Xbox?) but these lore videos are super relaxing to listen to. Some of the concepts I’ve seen remind me a lot of Warhammer 40k, but the psionic energy I’m hearing about is more grounded than the warp, and I don’t think there’s an equivalent to the chaos gods but if I’m wrong, either way this is super interesting. Keep up the good work
It's a really great game also available on console but cost a lot for all the DLC, better to try it vanilla first, he still have a lot of good stuff in and also to make a game going longer too because they tend to be too quick on you may not be ready at first
I cannot stand in sci-fi when we as humans get attacked first by aliens and we fight back every youtuber calls humanity xenophobic. That's not the right word.
Xenophobia is the right word honestly. If you get bitten by a spider as a young child you will likely develop a fear of spiders, i.e. arachnophobia. It may be irrational at some situations, but its not unjustified. Also, purge the xeno.
"We should assist the Earthlings, we can't be having with Aliens blowing up Human worlds. In fact we should initiate a war of conquest regardless of what Earth does. With luck, we should get a few systems out of the deal if nothing else."

don't know if you've considered it, but I find it interesting that the official advertising for the MegaCorp in the MegaCorp DLC trailer features humans as the face. we see aliens being the "lows" of society in the trailer too. so if the MegaCorp was trying to advertise to them, then they probably would have chosen some species more resembling to show on the ads. and the corporate enforcers are rather human-looking. all that makes me think that MegaCorp is also derived from humanity, probably UNE. or at least has humans as significant share of higher-ups and shareholders. and the fallen colony is mentioned in the trailer too!
2:50 so… one Stellaris pop is 250.000 species? That makes the *Prosperous Unification* origin planet population 7.500.000 species, less than nowadays Earth… I will still tend to think that this is at lest 500.000 specis
It would be so cool if there's an empire of Neanderthals, a spiritual militarist whos back then brought from Earth by some ancient alien and nurtured to become sapient and independent to rule their empire themselves.
A katzen story would be wild with all of the factions they have internally and their parallels to ww2 events. Too bad on my latest games they spawn on my territory and I rather blow up their attack moon before they reach ftl 😅
I have to admit that I much prefer playing as Humans and tell a story of a possible or alternate future than choosing a random alien race.

I agree a campaign mode would be an incredible edition to the game
There needs to be a follow up video it would be soon cool to see the Xenophlics get saved by the Xenophodes

UNE : Hello, we're human bringing peace !
Commonwealth : Hello, we're also human, but we're Xenophobic, would you like to be a Xenophobic too ?
UNE : WTF ?!
They say 'suffer not the xeno to live,' i say 'TOLERATE NOT THE BREATH OF THE TYRANT!'
This gamma aliens do be strong, anyways how's that "kidnap kids to become supersoldiers" doing?
Halo? 👀
5:53 I’m surprised they had any weapons whatsoever, let alone enough ammo to sustain a war against millions
They are like 250.000, which means the aliens only outnumber them 10 to 1, while they are 1000 years ahead of tech at the very least. Each colonist just need to go out, breathe some air, shoot 10 aliens and call it a day.
they likely had some form of ammo production facilities on board, and having weapons would probably be considered a necessity considering the mission
Due to the sheer number of colonists, a police force with weapons would obviously need to exist to prevent conflict between colonists. So obviously there would be weapons.
If there'd be a tier list of stellaris UA-camrs, i think you'd be in S tier along with Montu >.>

I don't really know why but this trailer always touches me emotionally like the ending of Valient Hearts: The Great War.
It's a fantastic trailer, with great voice actor work
Yes, we send assistance and win this war. Humans unite and stick together.
To WAR!
I like to watch your videos on a second screen whilst playing. Feels like I'm being briefed.
Best of luck in the galaxy!!
Can this be a series’s? The whole story telling is just beautiful and amazingly done
Thanks Rex! Glad you enjoyed it; not sure if I could turn it into a series I'm afraid - have to see what I can come up with
So I made a custom human empire and accidentally made a pre schism version of mankind who had to deal with earth's catastrophic destruction before splintering.
Loving the style of these in-universe lore videos. Keep on keepin' on my dude.
Thanks Preston, glad you like them
Ahhhhh this new timeline! I remember one where the 6 colony ships were sent to the stars via a naturally occuring wormhole. And that one could use other types of FTL… :D
I think the story was originally written that way beause hyperlanes didn't exist in Stellaris at that point! :)
I love the fact that you credited the Soviets on their achievements rather than skipping to the moon landings and claiming a US victory.
Of course! The soviets getting to space first doesn't devalue the moon landing
This guy is the biggest bird

These videos made me try stellaris, and now it's one of my favorite games. You are awsome :)
Happy to hear that Florian :)
Amazing as always, keep up the great work!

Ah the humans so many stories to tell about them from nuclear war to a lost past long forgotten I love role playing as the humans
That recording got me feeling goosebumps and tears rip to those billions
This is still the saddest and most epic trailer of Stellaris for me. Like dam, imagine watching the battle only to be erased
Whenever i play as the commonwealth of man, i always make a huge effort to befriend the united nations of earth, while aslo maintaining a militaristic government.
This inevitably leads to them not liking me, but it just seems right for role plays sake
Humanity first is very fitting for the CoM, even if the UNE dislikes them for it, agreed.

Ah, the battle of Europa-7. I feel that might have gone a bit better if the UNE had remembered to mount any guns on their battleships. (The original cinematic had the UNE ships with visibly empty dorsal hardpoints, it was silly.)
Ooof! Cool bit of trivia though, thanks Daniel
„As expected from our brothers and sister of the UNE. They are weak in mind and spirit, poisened by their egalitarian beliefs of universal rights, peace and shared destiny with the Alien. They didn‘t even bother to properly outfit their fighters with defense weapons! We know better! And we will teach them after we dealt with the Gamma Menace for them.“
- the COM, propably
You are one of the best Stellaris lore UA-camrs ther is thanks for making this videos
Thanks Zoren!! :) glad you like them
If I were The Commonwealth of Man I would refrain from entering the war between the UNoM and The Gamma.
Just found your channel. I watched the precursor video and was greatly impressed.
Awesome, thank you - glad you enjoyed it, hope you like this one as well :)
been binging these videos, they're absolutely great. Are you able to do more ground-combat based lore videos? The ones you did on the prethorians were pretty cool. Thanks for the great content!
Thanks Kura! Perhaps in the future!!
You could make a video about the Aeterum and reports about the various events you find while exploring their Birch World

the galaxy is humanities birth-rite
NO REMORSE NO RESPITE

FOR THE EMPEROR!!!
it would be nice if une and thc had more interactions between them depending on how each one is fairing. like u could have commonwelthian humans getting refuge on earth or terran citizens escaping a poluted earth to seek refuge on the relatively clean commonwelthian worlds. those two i think should have the sort of interactions those with afraid of the dark origin have but maybe a bit more fleshed out.
You could have scientists spies and and factions having sympathies for the other nation and even working or giving them more influence or resources than they actually give you.
I have a custom human empire called "The Singularity" because it takes control of anything it comes across.
The UNE pledge of allegiance always brings a tear to my eye.
Honestly we’re probably headed for a Commonwealth esque future.
If I am not playing a machine empire, I am playing humans because humanity fuck yeah.
Does the Earth Custodianship has an official lore as well?
I often think that when the parallel universe event shows up it should be either the Earth Custodianship or the UNE in the recieving end (when you play with one or the other). Just to give EC a more present place in the lore and such
Nothing I found, I did consider including them - and the Human Remnant, but other than pointing out they existed I wouldn't have had much to say
@@TheRedKing Perhaps a generalized video covering the concept of alternate timelines? Earth Custonianship, Human Ancients, and that one event where a "Beta" version of your homeworld is created? The former could even just be footnote additions to a larger "Unity Beta" story.
The Human Future is too be ruled over by the great Emperor of Man
My custom Earth Humans are called the United Terran Social Megatrust and it's like a middle ground between these two. More like a Star Trek style egalitarian federation focused on individual liberty and a state apparatus that provides for all basic needs. Heavy emphasis on science and exploration.
Still my favourite scenario after all this time
When I got this Game, I decided to create my own Human Factions, first was a Egalitarian, Materialist, Militarist Empire called the Brickcraft Citizens Alliance, the Brickcraft Confederacy another which was a Xenophile Empire, and the Brickcraft Corporation, (the Corporation was created before the Megacorp DLC was announced)
This was back when Democratic Governments gave you influence if you do a Ruler Mandate, and Corprate Dominion was a civic you could pick if you have the Oligarchic Government type.
Love the names :)
10:45 - must admit, that speech causes a strange form of inspiration...
To war!!
Say it with me now lads... LETS BE XENOPHOBIC, IT'S REALLY IN THIS YEAR!
The hive should have cracked their planet when it had the chance
Great stuff!
Human Superiority! ✊️ Down with the XENO!! 💀
Europa 7 reminds me of my own first-contact war with Fear of the Dark origin, poor Hive Mind died within only 4 years
I didn't sign up to defend any damn aliens. Hand me my promethium flamer, brothers
Thats not how Humanity goes in my playthrough. Its always 40K for me.

Keep up the good work
It's available on Console as well :) Great game!!
It's a really great game also available on console but cost a lot for all the DLC, better to try it vanilla first, he still have a lot of good stuff in and also to make a game going longer too because they tend to be too quick on you may not be ready at first

Only one.
Conquest of stars and void for our own.
@@Svevsky to be fair if the xeno are a race either hellbent on expansion or harm, I think it’s pretty justified

don't know if you've considered it, but I find it interesting that the official advertising for the MegaCorp in the MegaCorp DLC trailer features humans as the face. we see aliens being the "lows" of society in the trailer too. so if the MegaCorp was trying to advertise to them, then they probably would have chosen some species more resembling to show on the ads. and the corporate enforcers are rather human-looking. all that makes me think that MegaCorp is also derived from humanity, probably UNE. or at least has humans as significant share of higher-ups and shareholders. and the fallen colony is mentioned in the trailer too!
The UN leading mankind, a true dystopia.
2:50 so… one Stellaris pop is 250.000 species? That makes the *Prosperous Unification* origin planet population 7.500.000 species, less than nowadays Earth… I will still tend to think that this is at lest 500.000 specis
odd factory making 250k people disappear overnight
It would be so cool if there's an empire of Neanderthals, a spiritual militarist whos back then brought from Earth by some ancient alien and nurtured to become sapient and independent to rule their empire themselves.
Narrow passages can help to negate superior numbers.
Do you have plans to cover modded empires like Aternum and Katzen Imperium or modded crisis like the Blokkats?
Maybe! I've only ever played vanilla so zero experience with the modded stuff
@@TheRedKing That's fine. Just something to think about in case you run out of ideas.
