So glad to come across your channel! I’ve been looking for gardening content for the zone 9 area. Looking forward to seeing more. Greetings from Pleasanton 👋
Yay!! Hi!!!🙌🏼
I love making rose tea. I have a Don Juan climbing rose I just cut back it was hard to do
I can't wait to see what they look like this year! I'm a beginner (also in zone 9) and I've been afraid of pruning my DA roses as they're already growing so slowly.
oh that makes sense! I just posted two follow up videos from this prune job. Check out my roses playlist if you’d like to see how the roses are doing. One called morning look at my DA roses and the most recent video I have posted on the rose patio. 🌸
So happy to find your channel! I’m in zone 9b and just ordered David Austin roses including Roald Dahl. Need all the help I can get! Ha!
I hope you love them as much as I have!!!
Hi from Wisconsin 👋🏽 I’m jealous you can garden in January! We can’t here until end of April/May. I’m going to order some David Austin’s soon and I can’t wait!
Hi From the Garden from Wisconsin!! Nice to see you here! I know how crazy it is cuz I used to live in the UK! That’s why I started this channel. Zone 9 is so awesome, and different! 🤣
I just planted one of these. I’m in 9B and always do my first feed the first week in March. Your garden is very pretty.
Oh yes! David Austin says first feeding “Feb/March”!! I’m just so impatient I want to get on with it as soon as possible! 😍😁🤩
If you plant your roses in organic soil in pots you will be amazed on how they grow also try a table spoon ful of Epsom salt rake in then water in the early spring
Great video. This is exactly how it should be done. I can’t wait for my DA roses to arrive in early Feb (as estimated in the website). Cheers from TX. 👍
I ordered four more…can’t stop myself!! Let’s see who’s comes first…although I think the DA headquarters in the USA might be in Texas so you might have an advantage ! 😏🙌🏼🌹
Hi I just found your vid/ channel! I like your tone of voice and energy! I just liked and subscribed to you! I have 2 David Austen roses since last year! Excited to watch your videos! Introvert mom for 4 sons (2 autistic) .
Hello hello! So glad to be co- DA rose garden and mom friends! 💯🙌🏼
Thanks, I like the use of the stick to guide the length of pruning. How did the front yard roses turn out???
Great! Check out my last video on Pruning and Training climbing roses!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
What its mean zone 9? Can lady of shalot produce flower in hot tropical temperatur with 31°C in day... pls answer me
How do you save first year david austine from spider mites
Hi!! Just planted this same rose! Did you pinch it before it when the first buds showed up?
I don’t do that because I’m too impatient but I know that is a recommendation by rose growers for the first year! No blooms, just let the roots get established.
Thanks for this video. Do you leave your container roses outside during the winter? Do you wrap them?
I do leave them out unwrapped in my containers! So far so good! One thing I was thinking about doing in future when I have permanent locations for my rose containers is taking container bottoms off and allowing the roots to go down into the soil (because that’s possible with the majority of my roses)….which would make them happier I think! But as of today they are container roses that endure the winter in their pots with no extra love. 🙂
@@PowertotheFlower Thank you so much!
Hi. I have a roald dahl for two years. The spring blossom is amazing. But it never bloomed in the fall. My area is zone 9B. Do you know why?😢
Hi! My thoughts are: fertiliser! Deadhead old blooms! Watering regularly and full-sun position all season. Plants on drip flower better then hand watered pots. The consistency helps them. Roses need tons of sun..although on those 100’ days they want afternoon protection! I hope something resonates! Good luck!
Which David Austin roses do you recommend for the containers and what size of the container? I am in bay area as well...
I am working on a follow up on my roses so look for that coming out soon! But to answer your question, the Roald Dahl is a perfect shape for a container as it drips over the edge. Unless you want a more erect look, then the Alnwick is perfect. It has a V shape! I think the Gabriel Oak will also be a “dripper” like the RD! As for life in the container…they all seem to be doing equally fine!
@@PowertotheFlower thanks...waiting for more of your videos :)
How much growth did you get first year
Tons! like tripled in size!
