  • Slow motion attack of a triton trumpet shell eating a cushion star! I shot this super rare footage on an outer reef off Oahu North Shore in a cave at 60 feet deep. The trumpet shell lives in the cave and often eats starfish. The cushion star ventured to close to the cave and got attacked by the shell in super slow motion. It took me 40 minutes to video the attack and then it took 48 hours for the trumpet to eat the entire cushion star. The cushion stars eat live coral so the triton trumpet shells keep the star population down and help save the coral reef. This shot clip is out of my new movie soon to be released called Live Hawaiian Seashells On The Reef. Marine Biologist Terry Lilley
